“That is great, but what are we going to do, blow the place up? Getting out of there is going to be hard. When I went in, there were four checkpoints with guards. Each of them asked different questions and wanted different paperwork,” Wrecker said, and Loki leaned back.
“Well, maybe blowing it up is a better plan. Getting her out of there will be too difficult. That would mean we would need to lift four different keys, get them into her.”
Wrecker nodded. “Which I was searched each checkpoint as well.”
“Just ‘cause we know where she is, though, it would be impossible to get inside the walls to break into her cell and get her out,” Jaci said slowly.
“We could always call the government,” Shadow said with a shrug. Everyone looked at him like he was nuts.
“Seriously?” Loki said and made a noise of disgust. “You do realize we are in the country undocumented; they will arrest us if we are caught. Why the hell would the American government acknowledge our presence?”
Shadow looked at him and shook his head. “Not our government, theirs.”
Tony looked at Loki. “How much has he been smoking?”
Loki held up his hands. “He rented a car,” he said, like that explained everything.
“You rented a car?” Wrecker whispered and then looked back toward the door as if he was expecting the police to burst in at any moment. “Are you fucking crazy?”
Shadow shook his head. “I don’t get what the big deal is.”
“He doesn't get what the big deal is?” Tony snapped and then looked at Loki. “We should just tape a sign to our asses saying ‘arrest me, arrest me,' that may make this less painless. ‘Cause you know, when they track us down, I am pretty sure that they will not be nice.”
Loki sighed. “Yeah, I know.”
“Oh ye of little faith,” Shadow said and grinned. “I didn’t use my real name.”
“You didn’t use your real name, really? ‘Cause that makes everything all better. You do realize that they take pictures everywhere here. All they need to do is find out your ID was fake and they will have you on every fucking poster there is around the city.”
Shadow frowned and then he thought for a second. “My ID is solid; she would never have made a mistake like that.”
“She?” Loki asked.
Shadow nodded. “Yeah, one of my old military buddies actually set up the ID.”
“Why not Boony?” Loki asked, almost afraid of the answer.
Shadow smiled. “Oh he would have, but even he knows that Jacks is the master of IDs. Heck, he called her a few times to get some help with the background set up. No worries, Jacks is a professional.”
“Jacks?” Wrecker asked. “Female?”
Shadow nodded. “Yep, Marbles is her twin; they are awesome. Oh, and Doc, can't forget her, she was a squad leader, rescued me more than once.”
Loki shook his head. “No comment.” He had no clue what the man was talking about, but he was so not going there.
They finished dinner, discussing every way they could think of to get Carole out in two days time. Sadly enough, it was Buddy who laughed at them while they were talking.
“No, no, no,” the little boy said, holding up his hand. He looked at Loki and said, “Your, uh, mom?” he asked, and Loki nodded. He smiled and said, “I make her safe.”
Jaci smiled at the little boy and patted him on the head. “That is so sweet. How about we get you a shower and to bed?” She looked up at the men and said, “We will discuss this later.”
They all nodded and watched as the little boy took Jaci’s hand and let her lead him down the hallway toward the bedrooms. Wrecker leaned forward to make sure she was gone, and then he glared at Shadow.
“You fucker, I swear to God if you get us killed, I will totally haunt your ass.”
Jaci settled Buddy into bed and then wandered back out to the main area of the safehouse. She found Kaden alone; he was sitting on the couch with his computer in front of him. She only briefly wondered where her brother and Wesson were at, but those thoughts flew out of her head when Kaden stretched, raising his thick muscular arms over his head. Shit, she licked her lips wondering what it would feel like to be under this amazing man.
She was getting ready to open her mouth to tell him she was standing there when she heard a beep on the computer. He quickly dropped his arms and settled back in front of the computer and began to use only two fingers to peck at the keys. Jaci smiled, at least he didn’t do everything well.
Leaning against the corner of the wall that was at the entrance of the living area, Jaci was mesmerized by him. He was everything and more than she had ever dreamed. And oh how she had dreamed. Looking back, she should be slightly embarrassed about staring at the phone before she went to bed in order to make sure he was the last thing she thought of. She did this because she wanted him in her dreams. Sure, she had dated other men, but none of them had been like Kaden.
His forceful presence, as well as his amazing good looks, were the things every woman's dream man was made of, and Kaden had it. When she first met him in person, she hadn’t believed what her eyes were telling her, which was he was truly the whole package. It had taken several hours for her to realize it. Jaci had also been shocked when Wesson had called her out on her staring at Kaden.
Of course, she tried to hide it, but the charming man who she felt a kinship to almost immediately after meeting him, called her bluff. They had been alone thankfully when he did it, which she truly appreciated because she would have been mortified if Kaden would have heard their conversation.
Wesson felt like her brother, well, not Tony, because he was way more serious. No, he felt like a brother in the sense she had absolutely no sexual attraction to him, but she felt as if she could talk to him about anything. When he teased her about staring at Kaden, she had grinned and rolled her eyes. Then he said he would help her.
Jaci looked back down the hallway and wondered if this was his way of helping her. Making sure she and Kaden had a little alone time. She really just wanted to see if the chemistry was really there. It couldn’t be, Jaci had built him up in her head, and while right this second she felt that he was awesome, he could be an asshole for all she really knew about him. She had met plenty of them, men who were sweet and kind on the surface until you got to know them, and then suddenly they felt since they bought you dinner that you owed them something. She really hoped Kaden wasn’t like that.
She must have made a noise because Kaden said, “Are you going to stand there all night and stare, or are you going to come over and help me out?”
Jaci gasped a little, then said, “Well yeah, I mean, I was just…”
Kaden looked at her and smiled, dammit, she felt her panties get a little wet as he looked at her from the top of her head to the tips of her toes. It felt like he was undressing her with his eyes, and it felt amazing, especially seeing the heat in his gaze as if he wondered what was under the jeans and tank top she was wearing.
Kaden looked back to her eyes and smiled at her, damn, she was a CIA Operative, nothing shook her, nothing at all. Pulling her shoulders back she stepped into the room and changed her tone of voice to all business and asked briskly, “What have you found out?”
That was her business voice, that was the one she knew most men hated and were threatened by. Kaden smiled bigger and shook his head as if he wasn’t going to play her game, whatever, she thought and walked to the chair opposite of him and sat down.
“Buddy go down okay?” he asked Jaci, and she felt her cheeks getting hot, what a normal question in an abnormal setting.
“Uh yeah,” she said stupidly and then grimaced to herself.
Yeah good going, now he thinks you are a CIA Super Dork.
Kaden smiled and then shook his head, he couldn't believe how incredibly cute she was. Her presence portrayed a confident operative; it had been impressive when they first met, including her ability to move from rooftop to rooftop without being seen. Then when they
arrived at the safehouse, she had confidently taken the boy in hand and got him clothed and cleaned up again. Then asking Shadow to explain everything he knew. Loki had listened to them as they spoke in hushed tones. Yeah, he knew she was a good operative, but he wanted the sexy unsure female who had no clue she was gorgeous and tempting to him.
“There is information coming in about the prison. My president and club have been gathering everything they can find and sending it,” Loki said, and Jaci nodded.
President and club, the biking club she knew he belonged to, it still shocked her it was a front for mercs, hell, she had heard whispers about a group of mercenaries doing missions no one else would take on. But knowing that he was a part of it, made Jaci curious about the men.
“Your club, they’re bikers?” she asked, and Loki grinned and nodded.
“Yep, at first after we got out, all of us just needed some time, you know, to decompress. When we were in the military, the missions were long and hard, after that anyone would need a little bit of time to adjust to the outside. We just did it on our bikes,” Loki said, and she stared as his eyes became unfocused, like he was riding his Harley in his mind. “I gotta tell you, my bike, and my brothers. I would have been a fucking mess without them. My head wasn’t in a good space, but when I got on my bike, I forgot everything but the ride, the wind, and fuck it worked. It made me forget; it saved my ass. Fling and the others, they knew exactly what I was feeling without talking about it. We all just clicked.” His eyes came back into focus, and he looked at her. “They are my family, as much as my mother is, I would die for any of them without question. They saved my ass, a debt I can never repay.”
Jaci stared at him, wow, that was quite a statement, it reminded her so much of Carole. She had said similar things to her many times, although it was only about the two of them. She knew Carole felt like she was the daughter she never had, she also respected Jaci for what she did, which was an awesome feeling. Being partners, they shared everything because they were alone together so much. Even on their time off they would spend hours together, shopping and watch movies. It was one of the best relationships she had, except for her brother of course.
“I get that,” she said quietly.
“Anyway,” Loki said clearing his throat and then he turned the computer so she could see it. Back to business.
“Loki?” she asked slowly.
“My mom never told you my road name?” he asked.
“Road name, what’s a road name?” she said.
“Well, for a biker, a road name is what identifies us. In our world it will define you, your name is your reputation,” Loki said with a shit eating grin.
“And your reputation?” Jaci asked.
“Well, in some circles, I would be called sexy as fuck. In others, I would be considered a killer,” Loki said.
Jaci rolled her eyes. “No ego there.”
Loki grinned. “Nope, my mama taught me right.”
Jaci burst out laughing, although she was sure Carole was a good mother, she was also sure that she hadn’t taught him that. Carole was too grounded. “Come on, get back to work,” she said and then looked at the computer screen.
It took her about ten minutes to announce. “Impossible.”
Loki shrugged and said, “It may look like it, but nothing is infallible. You and I both know that.”
Jaci nodded and then looked back at the design. “The corners of the property are usually the weakest in any security system, especially when the property is this large. The guard towers are too far apart to do any good once someone gets in, there is about a ten-foot gap between that would be uncovered with weapons. Not that they couldn't get people in there quick, but if you look at the back where they accept deliveries. Well, it looks like the guard towers have a much bigger gap.”
Loki nodded. “That is what I was looking at.”
“The problem is though, once we get in, Carole's cell is on the other side of the prison. So we would need to move all the way over here,” Jaci said pointing, and Loki nodded.
“Yeah, but what if she was moved?” Loki said.
“Moved?” Jaci asked and looked at the cells closest to the back of the prison. “That would mean she would need to be in solitary. They won’t put her there unless she does something very wrong. They want her in the population right now, any one of the prisoners could kill her, and it would solve their problem. I would in fact wonder, since the prisons are corrupt, why she hasn’t been taken out already.”
Loki smiled and shook his head. “Honey, I know you were my mom’s partner, but you truly have no idea what she is capable of.”
Jaci opened her mouth to deny it; she had seen Carole in action plenty of times, but never in this kind of situation. She hoped Loki really knew because it would help them a lot. She closed her mouth and then nodded. “I hope so.”
Loki looked at her closely, and he lifted a hand, almost as if he was unable to stop himself. He trailed a finger down her cheek, Jaci sucked in a breath as she savored the brief touch. His finger traced her chin, and moved to her lips, all the while he was staring into her eyes. His gentle touch against her lips made her push her tongue out between her lips briefly getting a taste of him. Loki groaned and she wanted to smile but she couldn't. Dammit, poor fucking timing, he thought. Her brother was somewhere in the house, and Wesson was probably getting high, which meant he would get the munchies.
They stared into each other's eyes so intently. The attraction in the air was palpable, it pulled her toward him, pulled her closer and closer. Loki just stared as she leaned in, he wanted this, he wanted her.
He leaned forward as well, and Jaci closed her eyes when she felt the lightest of touches against her lips. Leaning forward she pressed her lips firmer to his, and she moved them, trying to deepen the kiss. That was all it took; she made a noise of surprise as he wrapped his arms around her, pulled her out of the chair, and onto his lap so fast she didn’t have time to push back. Not that she would have.
Jaci opened her mouth, and Loki took advantage of it. He swept his tongue through her mouth and then explored it slower after the first pass. He was consuming her, she could feel it, hell, she welcomed it. Her impatience began to rise; she wanted more. She wanted so much more than this. Her hands wrapped in his curly, shoulder-length hair.
Loki moved his hands to explore her shoulder, down her arms, and then she felt him brush his hand against the side of her breast. Jaci opened herself a little to give him access, and through her shirt, he touched her. She moaned in his mouth which only seemed to encourage him.
“What the fuck is going on?” Laci heard her brother yell. Loki was so startled he stood up, accidentally not hanging onto Jaci who landed on the floor with a grunt on her ass.
“Seriously?” Loki snapped and then bent over to help her up. “Jeez, for a second there I felt like a kid in high school getting caught whacking off to a centerfold.”
“What the fuck were you doing with my sister?” Tony bellowed.
Jaci stood up and whispered, “Will you shut up, Buddy is sleeping, and I don’t want you to wake him up with your screaming, he has been through enough. And what I was doing is none of your business.”
Tony snarled, “You are my sister. He is not good enough for you!”
Jaci reared back. “Oh please, according to you I am a virgin too, but that’s because you’re blocking out Tommy Simons, your friend from high school.”
Tony glared at her. “That is so not cool.”
Chapter Eight
Jaci was in her bedroom, and she was planning on a way to kill her brother without getting caught. She could do it too; he deserved it, how embarrassing. She was a grown woman; she was a CIA Operative for fuck’s sake, there was no way in hell she should have been embarrassed like that. It was completely unacceptable.
She paced back and forth across the room. She was so pissed at her brother, and she was also pissed at Loki who had suddenly apparently realized they were on a mission, one
that his mother's life was at stake. He needed to focus. Damn both of them, her brother and Loki.
Wesson had come in from the outside and tried to help her, but it only made her brother more pissed, so she had given up and announced she was going to bed. So fuck them, she thought and fell back on her bed.
They had clouded her mind, took her off her mission. Made her rely on someone other than herself, which was so totally not her. She was an independent woman; she was in control. This was her mission, sure Carole was arrested, but if she hadn't had someone to call, Jaci thought about how she would have gone about getting out of this mess.
She sat up, feeling determined, and then walked to the little desk in her room and sat down in the chair and reached for the small tablet she had. It was charging since it had been dead because the other place had only one plugin. Shit, she was so stupid, why hadn't she thought of this.
Starting up the small device, she waited impatiently for it to go through the whole start up cycle. She listened to the little beeps as her mind swirled around. When her device was up, she punched in her code and then saw all the messages she had failed to get. She frowned when she saw the last one, they cut her loose, but still left help if she needed it.
Jaci looked at the link, it was not familiar. Moving her stylus, she clicked on the link and waited. Her screen flashed off and then on more times than she could count. Well, this was weird as shit. A small icon popped up in the center of her phone with only a black background. Under it read: allow this app to change your system. Jaci bit her lip, well, she was fucked either way if she did nothing. She could be caught if she pushed the button, falling right into a trap. Shit, did she really have a choice?
Sucking in a breath, she pushed the button and waited. A small pink skull and cross-bone appeared and then it began to play a song. What the hell? She hated when people had playlists built into their shit. Because you know, she kinda felt like her songs she liked were just that, her songs. She listened anyway, and when she recognized the song, she rolled her eyes. Really, ‘Bat Out of Hell,’ a little cliché much.
