Two Serve And Protect_A Reverse Harem Romance Page 12

by Valerie O'Day

The two women grabbed them, with Leonardo and Harlow coming behind them to get what was left. It was nice having two strong men around to help with such things. Lisa was spoiled, and she knew it. Part of her dreaded the day that she had to let one of them go, though her heart jumped with excitement at the idea of being in a true relationship again. She had been dating them together and apart now since the day she told them, and she was enjoying that one-on-one treatment and the romance. She realized now more than ever that she hadn’t hated being married, but she had hated being forced into it because of circumstances. This time, she was doing it right, and hopefully, it would be with the right man at the right time, and not just for a baby.

“Oh, how can I thank you guys enough for this!” she squealed, looking over the finished product. Leonardo had opened his mouth to answer when Lisa suddenly doubled over, a moan of pain coming from her.

“Braxton Hicks again?” Marsha asked, looking at her daughter with a worried expression. Lia put her finger up, so they would give her a moment to decide, but then, something happened that made her keenly aware that this was it — the real deal.

Lisa felt a wetness spreading over her leggings and then it creeped out onto the floor. Her water had broken. “Okay, boys, I think it’s time!” Marsha called out, going straight to where the bag had been packed for the hospital only two nights earlier. It was a good thing, too.

“Already? She wasn't due for another week, though?” Harlow asked, looking nervous.

Marsha scoffed. “Babies have their own timeline. I am sure both of you men will learn that one day,” Marsha teased while helping Lisa towards the car.

“We’ll follow behind you and meet you at the hospital. Don’t forget to breathe!” Leonardo called after her as they all went outside and locked up, getting into their respective vehicles. Lisa couldn't believe this was happening already. The time had just flown by.

As another contraction came, Lisa began her Lamaze breathing as the car took off, a montage of the last couple of months in her head, how everything had been changing. It had all gone so well, though. She had been able to get into selling makeup and insurance at home, so she didn’t have to leave her boys too often. They were living with her full-time and had taken to helping around the house.

Thomas had worked things out, so she was still getting a small amount of child support for them as well, and that had helped a lot. The two men chipped in where they felt it was appropriate to. She didn't want too much of that, because it was a little weird, seeing as only one of them was the father and nothing had been set in stone yet.

Lisa began to scream in pain, the contractions getting stronger just as they pulled up to the hospital. Marsha walked her inside and got her a wheelchair while she was getting checked in, and the two men came in, looking around for what they could do.

They were immediately pointed to the waiting room, Lisa unsure that they should both be in the room. Her mother would suffice for that, and she was wheeled back to delivery, leaving them behind.

Lisa could not hold back the tears of happiness as she held the now-blanketed Violet in her arms. She seemed so small and delicate, though they said she was over eight pounds. She had a little tuft of brown hair on the top of her head and a very strong cry. Her skin was pink and perfect and soft. It was so amazing to be holding a baby again.

“Hey, Mom, is there any way you can go get the boys, so they can come meet their sister?” Lisa asked through the happy tears.

Marsha nodded. “Absolutely, and I will be sure to send the men in here, so they can see as well. I know this is a little soon, but do you know which one you want yet?” As soon as her mother asked the question, Lisa was certain, more certain than she had wanted to admit the past few weeks. The two relationships had developed so differently, even if she hadn’t defined them out loud. One of the men was turning out to be more of just a friend and confidant to her, while the other she had been falling for more and more unexpectedly. The whole thing was really sweeping her off her feet. She was glad she had allowed herself the time to choose.

Lisa smiled and nodded, and Marsha winked back before leaving the room. Lisa waited for the two men to show up. She hated to have to end it with one of them right then and there, especially if there was a chance it was his child and not the other’s. Wouldn’t that be mean and weird? But no, maybe not. A father was someone who raised you, and with the way they both had been, who was to say the other could not be the godfather? It was a great idea, even if it made her heart hurt a little.

The two men came into the room, and she looked them over, meeting the eyes of the one she wanted as he did a little strut over to her, leaning over to look down at the angel in her arms.

“How are you feeling?” Leonardo asked her, coming around her side to reach his finger down to touch the little girl’s hand.

“Exhausted but happy, and also very sure about something,” she told them.

Lisa was about to let them know what was on her mind when the nurse came into the room. She took Violet in her arms and was going to whisk her away so that Lisa could rest for a couple of hours. Lisa watched as the nurse’s eyes lingered on Leonardo, and he smiled back at the nurse. Lisa nudged him, happy things were looking the way they should.

“You should ask for her number,” Lisa whispered at him, making both men’s eyes go wide.

Leonardo started shaking his head to protest, but she wasn’t having it. “It’s okay; go get her. I realize that somehow we have become friends in all of this. You are always welcome in my life and around Violet. And if the two of you want a paternity test still, that is fine. I just feel that it’s time, you know?” she clarified. She thought she caught a small tear escaping from Leonardo’s eye before he left the room, leaving her alone with Harlow.

She looked up at him, seeing a look on his face — was it disappointment? “I guess that means I am going to get the boot, too?” Harlow asked a little bitterly.

Lisa blinked in shock and shook her head. “Not unless you want to leave. I want to tell you something, and I never thought I would be this vulnerable again, especially with you. To tell you the truth, I was so sure if I ended up with one of you, it would be Leonardo…” Lisa trailed off as Harlow interrupted.

  “Me too.”

“But it turns out, Harlow, that I am in love with you. I am in love with your jokes, your sexiness, and the way you make me feel like I am young, even with three children. I like how everything is always new with you and how you have this secret soft side that it feels like you reserve just for me,” she admitted to him, tears threatening to come again. Man, this pregnancy was a roller coaster of emotions.

Harlow gasped, actually full-on gasped at what she had said. “I do reserve it just for you,” he said quietly and thoughtfully before continuing. “Honestly, I have never been that guy, the one who wants to see a woman all the time and thinks about her when she isn’t around, or who wants to do nice things for her. At least not in a long time. I was just so afraid you would choose him, and I would be left out in the cold with a broken heart. But I love you too. I have for a while now. Just didn't know when was the right time to say it.”

He bent over to Lisa and placed his lips on hers. Lisa’s body and heart both instantly responded, making her feel even more loopy than the epidural, which was still wearing off. She was so happy and couldn’t believe she was finally in love again.

“Did you want to maybe move in?” Lisa asked him, taking advantage of the moment. “I mean, we would have to sit down with the boys first and make sure of how they feel about it, but I would really love if we could take that next step.” Lisa smiled up at Harlow, his eyes glowing with a newfound happiness.

“I would love that.” Harlow kissed her again. “I would love all of you as my own.”
