More Than A Friend Request Page 9

He squeezed her tight. “And thanks for your help.” She grinned thinking about a girl named Mandy who caught the boy’s eye. She was another lucky girl and she didn’t even know it yet.

  Chapter 10

Adam let out a loud groan when he finally shut the door. “I thought they’d never leave,” he said, pressing his body against Hannah’s and backing her against a wall.

“Did you ask Angie to take Danny?” she whimpered as he sprinkled kisses on her throat and collarbone. He’d been eying her exposed chest all day and felt like a vampire who wanted to tear into her skin. All this talk of love, forever, and lost time made him want to take advantage of every moment they had together until Danny came home in the morning. There would be little talking and a lot of what he was doing right now, and then some.

“No, I’d never do that,” he said against her soft skin. “But I love her for it. I love my son too, but I’ve been dying to do this all day.” He tore his lips away from her neck and backed away. He checked that he’d locked the front door and then grabbed her hand and tugged her down the hall. “I smell like charcoal. Wanna shower?”

Hannah was sexy as hell when she raised her brow to him. She always tried to play innocent with him but they both knew better. Either way, act or not, his pants were getting tighter by the second. “Well, if we have to,” she teased him.

He opened the shower door and turned on the water. Then, he undressed her, pulling her little floral print dress over her head. She wore lavender laced panties and a matching bra. She was beautiful. She worked at the buttons of his shirt as he studied her silky skin from head to toe. Then, she placed her hands on his bare shoulders before sliding it off. The touch of her hands on him made his dick throb even more. Hannah’s fingertips grazed his waist when she reached for his fly. The pressure of her hands so close made him moan in anticipation. She pushed his cargo shorts and boxer briefs down at once until they fell to his feet. He stood there with it all hanging out and she reached for him.

“Not yet,” he said, trying to hold on for as long as possible. He turned her around, brushed her hair aside and let his fingers drag down her skin to the clasp of her bra. He unhooked it with one hand, the straps loosened and he slid them down, peppering her shoulders with kisses along the way. Finally, he reached his hands down the front of her panties and uncovered the rest of her sexy body. He tapped on her bottom and she tiptoed into the shower as he followed her.

As much as he wanted to make up for lost time, he also wanted to take his time. He had always loved devouring every part of Hannah’s body. It was one of the things he missed most about not being with her. He enjoyed watching the pleasure pour over her face as she let him touch her, kiss her, love her. And he was going to do that, right now.

Adam started with a soft kiss on her mouth, as the warm water showered down on them. He teased her mouth open with the tip of his tongue. She nibbled on his bottom lip and the ache in his gut got tighter. He moved from her mouth, dragging his tongue down the length of her neck, shoulders and along her arm. He raised her hand and sucked on the inside of her wrist. The whimper in her throat let him know she was enjoying this just as much as she had in the past. He kissed, sucked, and licked each of her arms from her wrists to her elbows. He pushed against her, backing her into the marble stone of the shower to keep her from falling. Her legs were wobbly and he wasn’t anywhere near done with his feast.

Holy, Jesus. He was going to make her faint. Thank god, he pinned her against the wall or else she would have slid to the tile floor like dripping paint. Did this man suck on Tootsie Pops all day for practice? He was an expert with his mouth, and she was enjoying every wet second of it.

Her breasts were his next area of focus. He rolled one nipple between his thumb and index finger while his mouth worked miracles on the other. He gave the same attention to both the girls. The touch of his hands caressing her breasts softly in one moment, and rough in the next made her cry out in ecstasy. Hannah was fairly certain she wasn’t going to make it through the rest of his seduction. She knew his routine and he was only half way through.

She combed her fingers through his hair as her breathing became more rapid and his head slid down the front of her body, lapping up her skin from her breasts down to her core. He nipped at her hips, dragging his teeth from one to the other.

“Adam,” she cried out, when he reached behind her knee and placed it on one of his shoulders. He held it there, kissing her inner thigh from her knee to her hip. “You gotta stop. I’m gonna go and you haven’t even touched me yet.”

“Oh, baby.” His words were warm on her skin. “I’ve been touching you, everywhere. I just haven’t gotten to the best part.” She could feel his breath on her sex just before Adam slid his tongue inside her.

Her breath caught, and she whimpered, moaned, cursed, and cried out again as he worked his magic.

When Adam finished his sultry seduction, and she could barely stand, they quickly washed and conditioned their hair and took turns soaping each other up. Hannah washed the front of him, and when he was clear of suds, Hannah ran her hands from his chest to his abs and around his waist to his back before getting a firm grip on his tight ass. Then, she slowly dropped to her knees and began her own seduction.

Hannah woke up the next morning tangled in sheets and sandwiched between Adam’s arms and legs. She glanced over at the clock. It was almost ten. She hadn’t slept in like this in years. She smiled thinking of the man who cuddled her. In his arms, she could sleep forever. She tried to squeeze out from under his leg and arm without waking him, but her body stopped her. She ached all over. Their long hard night flashed before her and she knew exactly why she was sore. She hadn’t had a workout like that in … fifteen years. But she would sure have fun getting back into shape.

She noticed a smile spread across Adam’s lips. “Good morning,” she said.

“Best ever.” He pulled her closer.

“It’s already late. We should get up and get ready so we can pick up Danny.” She closed her eyes, enjoying the back rub Adam had started giving her.

“He’s gonna stay another night with Angie. We’re all on vacation, remember?”

“What should we do then?” she asked, studying the angles of his sexy face. She loved it when he hadn’t shaved for a few days. The scruff on his face was sexy as all hell, and she could still feel it all over her body.

He finally opened his eyes. “Let’s take advantage of the weather some more and go to the beach.”

“Sounds like a great idea. Who would’ve thought it would be in the nineties in November? Although, it’ll be a lot cooler at the beach.”

He kissed her forehead. “That’s okay. We can just take some blankets, or chairs, and kick back with a book. Maybe pack a picnic.”

“That sounds perfect,” she told him. She thought about all the times she had woken up at the crack of dawn to go surfing with him. She wouldn’t surf, of course. But she’d bring a bag of books and when she wasn’t watching him, she’d enjoy a good romance. When he was finished, he’d change his clothes and park himself right next to her with a novel of his own. They could spend all day like that. Reading, holding hands—and stolen kisses between chapters. Sometimes she’d jump on his board and pretend like she was surfing. He’d stand behind her and they’d ride the fake waves together. She had loved their long walks in the sand as the sun came down and the times he’d carry her on his back as the wind whipped her hair around. Just the idea that they could experience that again excited her to no end.

Hours later, they sat on the beach, side by side, soaking in the sun. The weather was perfect. It wasn’t warm enough to get into the water, but it was just right to lounge around and enjoy the relaxing sound of the ocean.

“I missed this,” Adam said, turning his head to look at the stunning woman next to him. He stole glances at her turquoise bikini that peeked out of her light cardigan, wishing the sun would blast down some intense heat so she’d have to take her cl
othes off.

She smiled up at him with her big brown eyes. “So did I. I’m so happy we’re finally here, together. I’ve waited so long for us. For this. For a lot of things.” She looked out at the waves but he could see a blush come over her.

He leaned a shoulder into hers. “What’s that all about?”

“What?” Her cheeks got even brighter.

“You said you waited for a lot of things. And you’re face lit up like a Christmas tree. Tell me why.” She glanced up at him, and he could tell she was hiding something. “I love this shy blushing thing, but you know how impatient I am. So tell me or I’m dumping you in the water.”

She took in a long breath and let out an immense sigh. “When I said I’ve waited for this,” she flipped her finger back and forth between the two of them, “I meant I had waited for it too. Like, I mean I really waited.”

He stared at her for a few seconds before a smile curved his lips. “You mean, you waited for me? To make love again? You haven’t been with anyone else in fifteen years?”

She shook her head, and leaned into him, tipping her chin to invite his lips to hers. He met her halfway and softly kissed her. A breeze kicked in as he peeled his lips away. He studied her with a smile. Her sun-kissed skin took his breath away as her hair whirled in the wind. He couldn’t believe it. His Hannah had waited for him. He’d been the only man to make love to her, ever. And if he had his way, he’d be the only one to, ever again.

  Chapter 11

Hannah spilled the beans at Thanksgiving dinner when everyone took turns talking about what they were grateful for. Adam’s parents were grateful for the recent happiness of their sons. Leila and Aaron were grateful to Adam for requesting Hannah’s friendship on FaceSpace and to Hannah for accepting it. Angie was grateful to have her two big sisters back. Adam and Danny both said they were grateful for having her in their lives. It was really sweet.

But when it was Hannah’s turn to say her piece, she had knocked their socks off. “I’m grateful to the eBay gods for allowing me to win a bid on three tickets to see the Texas versus Arizona game a week from Sunday.”

Everyone had looked at her strangely until her words sank in. “Are you serious?” Adam had asked. She just smiled wildly. Her hair had felt like it was standing on end, she was so excited.

The next question came from Danny. “Who are you taking?”

“You, silly,” she had told him. Adam cleared his throat. “And you too.”

That is how they ended up flying from LAX to Phoenix, and renting a car to the stadium. With such little time to plan, they were pushing it. They only allowed themselves two hours to get to the game after they arrived. Thankfully, they didn’t have any luggage, so they didn’t have to deal with baggage claim. This was a quick trip. Fly there and back in the same day.

They were hoping to get there early enough to see some pregame drills and snap a few pictures before the chaos of the game struck. The look on Danny’s face was that of complete awe as they entered the stadium. Hannah remembered feeling the same way when Adam took her to her first game. A giant-sized screen hung in each of the end zones, the roof was open, and the turf was greener than any grass she had seen in her lifetime.

She noticed that Danny walked slowly, his head turning in from side to side, up and down, taking in the massive stadium from every direction.

“This is so cool,” he said on his way down to their seats.

They watched both teams warm up. When she bought the tickets she thought they’d be close enough to take good pictures. While the seats were awesome, on the bottom level even, the players were still quite a distance away. As the seats filled, Hannah was surprised by the number of stars she saw. She wasn’t the only one who’d be cheering on her favorite team. The Lonestars drew fans in every city.

It was chilly out and by the end of the game, Hannah was frozen and she was pissed off. Her cherished team had given up their lead in the fourth quarter and lost. Her hands hurt from clapping during the good times, and her throat was sore from shouting during the bad. Sure, she got dirty looks from the Heat fans but she didn’t care. Now, they all had to do the walk of shame out of the Heat’s stadium with their Lonestar gear on.

Before they left, Hannah stopped them. “Excuse me,” she said, tapping the woman, who sat behind them, on the leg. “Can you please take a picture of us?”

The woman took Hannah’s cell phone and snapped the picture. Hannah stood between the two guys, her arms around each of their waists and their arms around her. So what if her team lost, this felt pretty damn good.

Adam adored Hannah for the surprise she’d given them that day. When she made the announcement at Thanksgiving dinner, he had thought she was joking but that bright smile of hers let him know she was totally serious. He’d only wished their trip could have been longer. Instead they were on their way back to the airport and flying home that night.

He didn’t know what his boy was more excited about—the game or the flight. He’d never been on a plane before and here he was about to board another one for the second time in less than twenty four hours.

“This must be how rich people live,” Danny said. “Renting town cars, flying back and forth from city to city to catch a game or a concert. Pretty cool.”

“Don’t get used to it. You’re gonna need to go to college and get a really good job to keep a lifestyle like this. For us, it’s a once every five years kinda thing.”

  “You’re a doctor, Dad. It’s not like we’re broke.”

He laughed at his son’s reasoning. “We would be if we did this all the time.”

“You’ve got a point.” He seemed to mull that over for a bit. “Thanks for everything, Hannah. I had a great time today.”

Hannah turned around to look at her boyfriend’s teenage son in the back seat. “You’re welcome. I thought it was pretty great too. Although, next time, we’re going big or we’re going home.”

“What does that mean?” Danny asked her. Adam knew exactly what she meant. She’d been dying to get to Texas for as long as he’d known her. He still couldn’t believe he’d found a woman who loved his dear team as much as he did. Or who loved football at all.

“It means, we’re going to Texas, kid, so you better git yer boots, spurs, and cowboy hat ready.” He loved how she slipped into a Texas drawl for that one. She was not only beautiful, she was cute as hell.

Hannah and Danny waited near the entrance to the airport while he turned in the keys to the rental car at a kiosk. He’d just finished signing off his credit card receipt and turned around to head back to them, when she came into view. She did a double take and smiled. His chest tightened and he thought he might be having a heart attack. The doctor in him took over and told him to breathe. It wasn’t his heart. Maybe a mild anxiety attack, but what should he expect? It was Amber. Danny’s mom. He thought about ignoring her, but she was already walking toward him and he didn’t think he could get away.

Amber was in his face before he could think of anything to do. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Hannah on full alert. Danny was looking his way, but he showed no signs of interest. “Hi, Adam, how are you?” she said, as if she hadn’t left him with an infant over thirteen years ago.

“I’m fine, but now’s not a good time. If you’d like to chat, call me. Or don’t. But you can easily find my number on the internet. I gotta go.” He tried to walk away, but she caught his arm.

“I haven’t seen you in years. Can you just take a few minutes to talk? Tell me about Daniel,” she pressed, looking up at him with creases between her brows.

“Daniel? I’ve never heard anyone call me that but my teachers on the first day of school.” Their son was standing right next to him, along with Hannah. Adam was about to pass out. “Hi, I’m Danny.” He stuck out a hand to greet her.

“Hi, Danny, I’m Amber. Your mom.”

Danny pulled his hand back as if he’d just touched something hot. “Oh,” was all his poor kid could say.
/>   “I’m sorry we’re meeting this way, but I’m going to call your dad. I’d like to get in touch with you and really talk. I’ll see you soon.” She patted his son on the arm and turned to him. “I mean it, Adam. I’ll be in touch.” And that was that. She left again, and left him stunned in the middle of the airport parking lot.

His world felt like it was falling apart. He wanted to take back those last few minutes and throw them away. Have a redo. Something. That did not just happen, he thought. But, it had. Amber was back, and she said she’d be in touch.

“Hey.” Hannah’s voice startled him. “Both of you breathe. Let’s get inside and find our gate.”

He put a hand on his son’s shoulder and the other on Hannah’s. By the time they got to the gate, boarding had already started. He sat between the two of them in stunned silence. Danny was pretty much the same. A blank stare shone on his face. His little boy, the one whose smile you could see from the sun just an hour ago, was deflated.

Hannah elbowed him in the side. “Snap out of it,” she whispered, “for Danny’s sake.”

He nodded. He understood exactly what she meant. He just didn’t know how to deal with it.

“Hey, bud. I know you’re probably a little confused right now. Maybe angry, or maybe even a little happy. I don’t know. But whatever you’re feeling or thinking, I’m here, kid. We can talk about it. Now. When we get home. Whenever you want.”

But his mini-me didn’t say a thing. He just nodded.

  Chapter 12

Hannah didn’t know why she went to work the morning after the game. After that hideous return flight home from Arizona. After that horrible meeting with Danny’s mom. It was pure torture to watch the lively, happy-go-lucky kid she knew transform into a sad little boy. She wanted to punch that women in the face for doing that to him. She could barely keep her thoughts straight long enough to get any work done, but she figured it would be better to go to work then stay at home all day thinking about what might happen next.
