Stud Finders Incorporated Page 18

by Alexis Fleming

Ooh, boy. It was Madison all right, but a Madison such as he’d never seen before. This was pure sex, all tied up in a tidy little package, as neat and tidy as the gift she held in her outstretched hand.

He moved a step closer and stared at the little black box tied with the red bow. A stud finder and, if he wasn’t mistaken, given the dent on the corner from when he’d dropped it, the same one he’d hidden in his bedroom. The very same one he’d handed back to his father earlier tonight when he’d fessed up.

“I hope you didn’t walk down the street like that.” He struggled to hide the grin that threatened to break through. “You’ll get yourself picked up and I’m not just talking about the police.”

Jake’s black mood disappeared as if it had never been. If Madison was prepared to go to this length to capture his attention, there was hope. Please God, let it be enough they could build on, overcome the events of the last few weeks and move on from there.

Madison pushed her shoulders back even further. Jake’s eyes bulged. If she did much more of that, her breasts would spill right out of that abbreviated excuse for a top.

She had on a bright red halter-neck top that dipped low between her breasts and ended just above the bottom of her ribcage, and definitely no bra. With every breath she took, her nipples pressed against the fabric and he itched to reach out and circle the pebbled crests.

He allowed his gaze to slide lower to the tight black skirt split up one side, high enough he could see the entire length of her thigh. Shit, if she moved too quickly, he’d get a flash of her panties.

Once again, he struggled to keep his mouth straight. He’d heard from his father about Rosa’s acting abilities. Oh, none of the details, but he’d seen his dear old dad go out dressed up as a john to pick up a hooker, namely Rosa playing a part. Said it kept the spice in their lives. He’d hazard a guess, given Rosa’s short stature, this was her skirt.

With it, Madison had donned sheer, black pantyhose that encased her legs and gave them definition, made them look a mile long. His inspection ended at the shiny black heels she wore, so high and spiky it was a wonder she could even walk in them.

“I’m not trawling, Mister,” she said. “I’m looking for that one special guy to be my stud. Interested?”

At the low, breathy quality of her voice, Jake’s libido went into overdrive. Testosterone-filled hormones started a rampage, each and every one of the little beggars driving south of his belt to swell and harden his cock. Tension tightened the muscles in his gut. The breath snagged in his throat, made him light-headed as a series of raunchy images filtered through his mind.

So she wanted to play, did she? Never let it be said he stood in the way of the Arts. “I could be,” he said as he moved close enough to be enveloped in a cloud of heavy, musky perfume. He struggled not to cough. Heck, she must have poured the whole bottle over herself. “Depends what the price is,” he rasped.

“Oh, I don’t come cheap. I was taught by an expert.”

Jake swallowed hard as she stepped up to him, her breasts against his chest. She ran a finger down the side of his face and circled his lips, leaving a searing trail of heat. His tongue snaked out and bathed the tip of her finger in dampness. Her startled gasp was instant gratification. His rock-hard cock throbbed as fever-pitch excitement streaked through his veins.

He allowed his hands to settle on her hips, pulled her closer and ground his rigid erection against her. “Oh, I’m interested, lady, but I need to know what this will cost me.”

“Surely any cost is worth it if it’s something you want? Would you turn this away?”

Before Jake could move—not that he had any intention of doing so—Madison lifted one long leg and draped it over his hip. The movement brought her pussy into intimate contact with his lower body. His hips bucked in reaction, the breath gusting from his lips.

Sweat broke out on his forehead as his temperature shot sky high. He wanted to pick her up and rush into the bushes with her. He wanted… Hell, he wanted it all. The good and the bad. The ‘til-death-do-us-part bit. He was lost without her.

“So what can you give me?” he managed to get out.

“I can give you the time of your life,” she whispered against his mouth. “And I do mean your life.”

Madison suddenly dropped the act. Her heart beat so hard it made breathing difficult. Or was that Jake’s presence? Who cared? It was a heady feeling. She ran the tip of her tongue around the outer edge of his mouth, dipping inside to taste the heat of him. Then she drew back and stared at him.

“I don’t just want tonight, a quick scrabble between the sheets. I want your life and I promise to share my life with you, for the rest of our days. If that’s what you want, too.” She paused to drag in a shaky breath. She was putting it all on the line here. “I love you, Jake Hunter.”

There was utter silence for a moment. She watched as Jake squeezed his eyes shut. His face took on a pained expression. Had she made a mistake? Read it all wrong? A sense of dread threatened to overwhelm her. Then he opened his eyes and looked at her, and it was all there for her to see.

“I love you, too, Madison Paxton, and I can’t think of anything I’d rather do than give you the rest of my life.”

He lowered his head and Madison knew he wanted to kiss her. But not yet. There were certain things she needed to clear up first.

She reached up and placed her palm against his cheek. “Jake, I’m sorry for what I put you through. You were right, I did set out to use you, but only to teach me all about having an orgasm. I would never have gotten pregnant deliberately.”

Jake rested his forehead on Madison’s blonde-streaked hair. “Theft of sperm.” He let out a burst of laughter. “If the other lawyers back in Sydney had heard me, they’d be rolling around killing themselves with mirth.”

“The makeover plan ceased to matter so much when I started to care about you. I tried to tell you, but you were too angry to listen.”

He tilted her face up to him. “I should never have spoken to you the way I did. I was so jealous of that guy I saw you with at the French restaurant. That was hard enough to deal with. When you turned up with that kindergarten kid, Greg, I lost it and turned into a moronic fool. I never gave you a chance to explain.”

“The guy at the restaurant. That was—”

“Yeah, I know,” he interrupted. “Clifton the Crud. Your mother told me about him. And why you’d come up with the makeover plan. I knew you were insecure when I first met you, but I hadn’t realized how deep it ran. If I’d got my hands on that low-life ex-husband, I’d—”

“Shut up, Jake, and kiss me. I can’t wait any longer.”

Madison pulled his head down and cut off any further speech with a deep, drugging kiss. Jake allowed her the initiative for a moment, then assumed control, tilting her head to gain greater access. Her insides felt as if they’d turned to Jell-O, all shaky and trembling. If Jake hadn’t been holding her so close, she would have crumpled into a melted heap on the pavement.

“Disgusting. Right out here in the street, too.”

The cracked voice of advanced age broke through the sensual haze that held Madison in thrall. She pulled back from the kiss and glanced over Jake’s shoulder to see an old couple standing on the footpath staring at them. With a disgusted grunt, they turned and walked away.

Jake grinned. “We’ve made a spectacle of ourselves, and me an upright, law-abiding citizen.”

She threw her arms around his neck and hugged him to her. “I don’t care. I want the whole world to know how happy I am.”

“You know they think you’re a hooker, don’t you? They probably think I’m nothing but a sleaze-bag.” He dropped a light kiss on her parted lips. “But who cares, right?”

As he dragged her close again, the sound of a car pulling into the curb beside them intruded. Madison turned her head to see a marked police vehicle with two officers inside. The one nearest to them stuck his head out the window.

  “Is this
woman annoying you, sir?” he called out.

Jake tucked Madison close to his side and chuckled. “This woman is my brand new fiancée, Officer.”

“Well, take it home, buddy,” the officer replied. “You’re old enough to know better.”

“Yes, sir.” Jake responded with a smart salute. He grabbed Madison by the hand and turned her away from the car. “You got anything to cover that get-up?” he whispered.

She pointed to the overcoat sagging on the nearby bush. Jake grabbed the coat and helped her slip her arms into it. Then, her hand in his, he took off across the adjacent park.

“Hey, Jake,” Madison said as she trotted to keep up with him. “You know I’m going to want lots of whoopty-do for the rest of my life, don’t you? After all, I was taught by a master.”

“I’ve created a monster,” Jake laughed. “Holy guacamole.”
