Sensual hunger and passion quickly took precedence over everything else. Her robe disappeared. His khakis landed on the carpeted floor of the sitting room. Ross covered her face, her neck, her breasts, with his kisses. He pressed his mouth into the smooth, satiny skin of her abdomen and ran his hands along the sleek, slender length of her legs. He raised her hips and gave her the most intimate of kisses, and she came apart in his arms, crying out his name, speaking of her love, before she slipped over the edge.
Once she had come back down to earth again, Diana’s hands went to his shoulders, her fingers grasping the muscular flesh as her nails scraped sensuously along its surface. She licked her lips and then ventured forth into new territory: she tasted him, the smooth skin, the soft crinkle of private hair, the thrill of his hard, flexed manhood.
When they next kissed they could taste themselves on each other’s mouths and lips and tongues. It was seductive. It was erotic. It was provocative. It was impassioned.
Then Ross was there, urging her legs apart, coaxing her to take him, willing her to give all that she had to him. He joined himself to her with a primitive need that Diana craved, welcomed, needed, loved.
He thrust deep into her, making love to her body, to her heart, to her very soul. There was no longer any way to tell where he ended and she began. Their flesh became one. They moved as one. They felt as one. They loved as one.
And when the final shuddering climax took them, Diana heard his name echoing inside her head: Ross. Ross. Ross.
And she heard her name on his lips. “Diana!”
Epilogue
Maybe weddings weren’t such a damn waste of time, after all, thought Ross St. Clair as he waited at the front of the church sanctuary.
Not if it was the right time and the right place and the right woman.
Any minute now the organist would play the opening chords of the traditional Lohengrin wedding march and the processional would begin.
He stood there, knowing that he would soon see Diana for the first time in her wedding gown. He caught a glimpse of her at the back of the church, and his heart began to pound.
The music started. The guests rose to their feet and turned to watch. The ushers came first, followed by the bridesmaids, including his own sister, Katherine. Then the flower girl and the ring bearer, and finally the bride on her father’s arm.
Tall, blond, coolly chic and utterly beautiful—that was his Diana. But underneath Ross knew there was a very warm and a very sensuous woman.
He never took his eyes from hers as Diana joined him before the minister. The ceremony commenced as the traditional words were recited: “Dearly beloved, we are assembled here in the presence of God, to join this man and this woman in holy marriage…”
And when the clergyman concluded by telling Ross that he could now kiss his bride, he brought his mouth down on Diana’s and whispered one word: “Heaven.”
