“Good. And how’s that helping your relationship with Jude?”
I glanced over my shoulder at the security guard following us. I didn’t want to answer her within earshot of him. I really felt uncomfortable with him following so closely anyway.
I held up a finger to let her know I’d answer in a moment, and I stopped walking to let him catch up with us.
“Is everything okay?” he asked.
“Yeah, could you not follow us so closely? I’d like to have a private conversation with my bestie here. It’s nothing bad or anything. It’s, you know, girl stuff, so I figured you probably didn’t want to hear it anyway.”
He cleared his throat. “No, ma’am. That’s fine. I’ll give you a little more space. Don’t get too far away though. I need to be able to keep a visual.”
“Got it. We won’t get too far away.”
He nodded to both of us and walked away as we started walking again. I pushed the stroller, and Violet walked next to me, frequently looking down at Kaylee, who was passed out still from the car ride.
“That was pretty cool,” she said in a whisper, glancing back behind us to check on the guard as he distanced himself.
“That was nothing. You should meet Jude’s cook. That guy is pretty cool.”
“So, what were you going to say about you and Jude?”
“Oh, man, things are wonderful. We had a little bit of trouble over the weekend. He had a barbecue for his friends and coworkers…” I started.
“And why wasn’t I invited?” Violet looked offended that I hadn’t invited her.
“You would have been, but I couldn’t get ahold of you because you were working too much. Besides, you wouldn’t have enjoyed it. His friends and coworkers are dicks. And, of course that led to us having a fight, but we patched things up. Also, he’s being a lot cooler about letting us out of the house and stuff lately. I’ve been taking her for walks a lot. We’ll stroll up and down the sidewalk in his neighborhood most days.”
“Does she enjoy it?”
“I don’t know. She always falls asleep when we walk.”
“The motion I bet.”
I looked back, realizing we were getting pretty far away from the security guard. I knew we probably should have stayed a little bit closer, but I wasn’t too upset that he wasn’t right on top of us anymore. It was nice to have some distance.
“I’m glad you suggested the park this morning. It’s a beautiful day for a walk.”
Violet looked around as we walked. She looked like she was getting lost in the scenery. She did that sometimes; she could really be a bit of a hippie when she wanted.
“It is. Even more beautiful when you don’t have protection shoved so far up your ass you can taste their Aviators.” I laughed, glancing back again. I waved and he nodded. We weren’t too far ahead, so he could still see us.
“It seems like a lot to me.”
“Well, you know, his ex could be out here, and we need someone to protect us if she tries anything,” I explained.
“Yeah, tell me about that. What happened? Is that, like, his ex-wife, or what?”
“It’s his ex-fiancé. They didn’t make it to the wedding before she split, leaving him with Kaylee. That’s why he needed me to come in and take care of her. But apparently she called him a couple of weeks ago or something and told him she was going to take Kaylee back with her or something. I don’t know, but he got really weird for a while after that. I think it messed with him a lot more than he wanted to admit.”
“Well, yeah, can you imagine? I mean, think about it this way. He tells us it’s okay for us to come out here today, and then, once we get so far away from his security guard, he calls the cops on us for kidnapping her.”
I glanced back at security again. The thought of someone trying to say I was kidnapping Kaylee made me really nervous for some reason.
No one had said anything to me about it yet, but I felt like I’d heard it before. I stopped walking and looked around the park.
“You okay?” Violet stared at me, looking at me like I’d lost my mind.
“I don’t know. Call it instinct, intuition, or whatever, but I feel like someone’s watching us. In fact, I’m starting to feel like we should get out of here because we might be about to get in trouble.”
She laughed. “You’re being paranoid. We’re fine. See, no one’s watching us. No one’s worried about what we’re doing here.” She turned around with her arms spread wide out, indicating everyone in the park.
“When you said something about kidnapping, it turned my stomach. It’s like that feeling you get when you just know something’s wrong and you can’t explain it. That’s what I feel right now.”
I started to turn the stroller around. We needed to leave.
“Okay, okay. I’ll trust you. Let’s get out of here, then.”
No sooner had we started walking back the other way, than four police cars pulled up.
Their sirens were blaring and the lights were flashing. I glanced at Vi, thinking that maybe it wasn’t the kidnapping thing that had me feeling nervous, but maybe it was something else, possibly even worse.
The sirens woke Kaylee up and she started crying. I stopped the stroller and reached down to pick her up. I held her to my shoulder, like I always did. Violet took the stroller and started pushing it.
“Shhh, it’s okay, baby,” I said to comfort Kaylee. “See the pretty blue lights? I know it’s loud, baby, but there’s nothing to worry about. They’re here to protect us from bad people.”
“Ma’am, hold it right there.” An officer was approaching me with a hand on her gun and her other hand out, as if she were holding me back.
“I’m sorry?”
Violet stopped and started to walk back over to where I was, when another officer turned on her.
“Ma’am, stop right there. Put your hands above your head.” She grabbed Violet’s wrists and started cuffing her.
What the actual fuck?
“I’m sorry, Officer, there must be some kind of misunderstanding,” I started, but I was interrupted by another woman walking up in a huff.
She wore a suit, with her golden brown hair perfectly in place, despite wearing a little too much makeup.
“I’ll say there’s a misunderstanding. You kidnapped my baby.”
The officer in front of me put out an arm to keep us separated as another woman approached. She wore a trench coat and looked like a detective.
She approached me, stepping around both the officer and the crazy lady staring at me with murder in her eyes.
“Ma’am, is this your child?”
“No, but I’m watching her for her father.”
“No, she’s not. She kidnapped my Kaylee.”
My eyes grew wide, realizing the crazy bitch was Marie, Kaylee’s mom. I gripped Kaylee tighter and kissed her cheek. The moment we had feared had arrived.
“Is this, in fact, her daughter ma’am?” the trench coat lady asked.
I closed my eyes and nodded. About that time I heard the security guard coming up. He was shouting advice to me.
“Don’t answer anything, Hollie. Don’t speak until we get an attorney.”
“Excuse me, sir. Back up.” The third cop’s voice was male.
“I’m sorry, but I’m security hired by that baby’s father. I have a right and responsibility to protect her, especially from that bitch right there.”
“Sir, we can do this the easy way, or…”
He put his hand in the officer’s face and shoved him aside. Another officer appeared behind him then. There was a struggle, and both officers ended up having to use their tasers on him, taking him down hard on the grass in front of all of the spectators who’d gathered around to see the commotion.
People were screaming. Some had their phones out, taking pictures or videos of what was happening.
“Ma’am, I’m going to need you to hand the baby over to its mother.”
“I really think we should wait until her father gets here,
I argued. “He can sort all of this out for you. She doesn’t need me to hand her over to that woman.”
“Listen to her. She’s trying to keep my baby. She kidnapped my baby. Please just give me my Kaylee back.” She was sobbing and screaming.
“Come on,” the trench coat lady said, reaching for Kaylee. “Come with me, baby. Let’s go to mommy.”
“Let go of the infant, ma’am,” another officer said next to me.
I felt helpless. Violet was being put into the back of a cop car and read her rights. The security guard was cuffed and held on the grass. The lady in front of me had her hands on Kaylee, and I knew if I fought, it would only hurt the baby.
Her mother stood in front of me, crying hysterically because I’d kidnapped her baby and smiling maniacally because she was about to win. There was another cop next to me, ready to arrest me as soon as I let go of Kaylee.
Then, there was Jude, who was nowhere to be found—the one person who could sort out the whole situation.
And poor Kaylee had no idea what was going on, only that she was being pulled away from the woman who had been taking care of her for the last month or more. She started to cry and scream as the lady pulled her away and handed her to Marie.
I closed my eyes and let the tears roll down my face.
“I’m sorry,” I whispered, apologizing to my Kaylee and to Jude for letting him down, letting the worst case scenario happen.
My hands were pulled behind my back, and I was cuffed. A calm hand rested on my shoulder. It was followed by the trench coat lady’s voice.
“We’re all going down to the station to sort this out, okay.”
I nodded, and her hand was replaced by one much harder and firmer. That hand was followed by a woman’s voice reading me my rights.
That same woman started pushing me towards one of the cop cars. I took a few deep breaths to try to calm my nerves, but it didn’t help. Every breath, every step made the situation more real. And more hopeless.
“I have my baby now,” I heard Marie say.
Meanwhile, Kaylee cried the way she had before Vi showed me how to hold her. She screamed at the top of her lungs, looking for her Hollie, or her Vi, but neither one of us could be there to comfort her.
It was the worst pain I’d ever felt in my life, being pulled apart from her and forced to listen to her cry because she’d been put in the hands of someone who didn’t even fucking want her.
Then, I realized that it wasn’t the worst pain I would ever feel. I soon realized there were worse things than what I was feeling.
“She’s running with the baby,” a bystander yelled, and I opened my eyes in time to see Marie darting off through the crowd with Kaylee on her shoulder.

She slips her fingers inside her panties and makes a few quick circles. My eyes drift closed. I can just imagine how wet it is in there.
My cock throbs between my legs, but I don’t dare reach down to tug my balls. Brynn doesn’t notice. He keeps his whole attention on her, but I can see his crotch bulging in his lap.
“That’s it, baby. That’s the way you make yourself feel good.”
She doesn’t respond. Her fingers circle faster over her pussy inside her panties.
“Do you want something inside you, baby? Do you want me cock, baby?”
Her lips form the words, Oh, yes, but no sound comes out of her mouth. She’s breathing too fast and short. In response to his suggestion, she moves her other hand closer. Her fingers dart inside, and she plunges two fingers into her steaming slit.
Faster than thought, she starts beating her fingers in and out of her box while her other hand circles her clit. Her cunt makes sucking noises around her fingers, and they squelch in her sweet juice when she bangs them against her tender flesh.
Faster and faster, she bangs herself. Faster she pants. Her wheezing breath rakes out in little squeaks, but she doesn’t slow down or stop. She works harder, both hands going at once, until her voice rises to short shrieks.
All of a sudden, she hurtles herself back on the couch. She tosses to and fro with every muscle strained to the limit. She screams out loud and falls into a panting sweaty heap.

The room wasn’t very full, so I led him up toward the middle, my favorite place to sit. It made the music better, and the screen seemed wide enough without being too big or too far away.
I walked about halfway down the row and sat, placing my popcorn in my lap and the water in the cup holder.
“I’ve read a lot of positive reviews about this one,” he said when he sat down next to me. “But, let me warn you, it’s supposed to be steamy.”
“I can do steamy.” Oh, God, I’m sitting in a theater with my teacher, about to watch a steamy love story. I couldn’t believe it was happening, especially after our last meeting in his room.
“Good, because I know a lot of people feel awkward with explicit sex in movies. You know, when it’s not incidental. This isn’t supposed to be the kind of sex used to push the plot along. It’s real. It comprises major points in the plot, where the characters connect.”
I took a piece of popcorn and placed it against his lips, forcing him to stop playing the part of film critic and eat it. I giggled as his lips opened to take the food in, sliding against my finger.
I grabbed another piece and did the same thing again. He held a piece in front of me, but as I reached for it, he pulled it away, popping into his own mouth. I giggled and bit my lip.
It had to be a dream, I told myself. There was no way this was really happening, but as the lights lowered, I didn’t wake up in my bed—or his, for that matter, considering the way things were going.
We sat with our popcor
n in our laps and our drinks in the cup holders on opposite sides. I reached over with my left hand and gently ran my fingers across his hand.
After being playful with each other, I figured it was worth a shot to see how far we could go, to see if he was ready for me to be more than his student at school. I wanted to know everything he had to teach me.
But he pulled his hand back and sighed. He wasn’t ready yet. I’d gone too far...

The night hadn’t gone anything like I’d hoped.
Mia, my blonde bombshell of a date, snuggled into the passenger seat of my Rolls Royce, and immediately began talking about herself. Apparently, she was her favorite subject.
I pulled into the drive and just sat there. Forced to wait for the valet to come retrieve the key to park my car. I owned the entire building, for fuck’s sake. I wasn’t in the mood to wait.
