She set into cleaning, attending to Noah when necessary, and after an hour or so, the kitchen was spotless; it was now a kitchen that any woman would be proud to call her own. Just as she allowed herself a moment of rest to lean back against the kitchen counter and take in her work, the sliding door opened with a woosh, and Ian stepped into the house. He stepped towards the kitchen, his heavy boots thudding on the wood floor, and when he arrived, Olivia let out a gasp.

Ian stood before her, his shirt long-removed and his perfect, sculpted physique on display. His body shimmered with sweat, his perspiration setting his pecs to glisten, a bead of liquid darting down his skin every now and then, down along the immaculate angles of his abs. His chest rose and fell, his broad shoulders widening with each breath. Without saying a word, he marched to the sink, filled a glass with water, and drank it in three long gulps. Olivia watched his Adam’s apple as it bobbed up and down with each draw.

“Looks great,” he said, noticing that the kitchen was spotless.

“Thanks, you too,” said Olivia, the words slipping out of her mouth, her face going red as soon as she realized what she’d said.

But Ian was content to flash her another grin before pouring himself another glass of water and downing it just as quickly as he’d drank the first. Then, he was back outside.

The morning sailed by as they both worked on the home. Ian finished chopping wood around noon, just in time for him to come back inside to a lunch of a club sandwich and chips that Olivia had prepared. They sat down at the now-clean breakfast nook and ate their meals in silence. It was hard for Olivia to accept, but she was beginning to enjoy Ian’s company.

Soon, their meal was finished, and Ian was back at it, now clearing the rest of the junk from the remainder of the first floor. Olivia followed behind him, cleaning the rooms once they were emptied out. By the time evening settled, they had finished the first floor.

“We make a good team,” said Ian, looking over their work, the rooms of the first floor spotless and lit with soft orange light.

“I think you’re right about that.”

Olivia set to work on dinner as Ian relaxed in the living room with a glass of wine and a book, a Brahms piece playing softly from the living room speakers. Soon, their meal of steak and potatoes was prepared, and they set into their food just as they’d done with the previous meals of the day. Once finished, Olivia checked on Noah before pouring herself a glass of wine and settling into the living room with Ian.

He placed his book face down as she entered, but this time he didn’t seem irritated to have to talk to her. This time, he seemed to genuinely enjoy her company. They chatted for hours, talking about their lives before they met, slowly working their way through the bottle of wine. Olivia noticed that though Ian seemed to be more forthcoming with information about himself than he had been, he still avoided the topic of his wife, and why he wasn’t married while the rest of his brothers were not only married, but starting families.

Eventually, the time came for bed. The upstairs bedrooms still not clean, Ian once again prepared to sleep on the couch.

But the wine had gone to Olivia’s head, and she wasn’t quite ready to say goodnight to Ian. Just as during the night before, during their conversation, Olivia found herself sitting on the couch next to Ian. And as they talked, Oliva found their legs moving closer and closer to one another.

“Probably time for bed,” said Ian, looking at his watch and seeing that it was almost midnight.

“Yeah, looks that way,” said Olivia.

She cast a glance at the wine bottle, which had made its way to the coffee table. She picked it up, the dying embers of the fire reflecting in the green-black glass, and poured the last little bit that remained in the bottle into both of their glasses. But after she set the bottle back down and leaned back, she felt the bare skin of her arm brush against Ian’s. This unignorable touch of flesh on flesh caused his head to turn, his gaze to fall onto Olivia’s. And at that moment, she became aware of how close their bodies had become, that the shrinking distance between them wasn’t a mere accident, but the drawing of their bodies together, bit by bit, by the desires that existed just below the surface of their conscious thoughts.

Olivia blushed at Ian noticing how close she was, feeling as though she’d been caught doing something she shouldn’t of, as though elbow-deep in the cookie jar. But her touch wasn’t met with distance, but with a narrow-eyed gaze from Ian that was both playful and sensual. Olivia allowed herself to enjoy the feeling of his solid, strong arm against her skin, wishing that she could feel more than these few square inches of flesh.

And as if sensing that need, Ian leaned in close to Olivia, placing his lips on hers. The tingling of gooseflesh spread across Olivia’s skin as soon as Ian’s lips touched hers. His kiss was firm, and she wanted nothing more than to allow herself to fall into it. But it was so sudden that her mind could hardly hold a thought. Her arms were stiff at her sides, and she didn’t know what to do with her body as his lips remained pressed against hers.

Luckily for Olivia, Ian was more than willing to take the lead.

He turned his body to face hers, his hands resting on her arms. Olivia savored both the feeling his lips on hers, and the sensation of his strong, firm hands on her soft skin. She allowed herself to succumb to him, letting her body loosen from its tight posture, letting herself fell into his arms. He continued to kiss her, his lips still closed, kissing her in a chaste manner for a just a few moments longer.

Then, he slid his hand down to her lower back, guiding her down onto the couch. Olivia let herself slide down until she was laying down, her legs hanging over the cushions. Ian positioned himself on top of her. He lowered himself, kissing her more deeply, his mouth opening, his tongue moving over her lips. Olivia opened her mouth eagerly to accept him, savoring the feeling of his tongue on hers, their kisses growing more passionate by the moment.

Ian’s hands slipped up into Olivia’s shirt, and the sensation of his fingers on her bare skin was so intense that Olivia felt she might be driven mad with desire. Her mind was a hectic swirl of thoughts; she was still unconvinced that this wasn’t another sweet dream.

But when Ian lifted himself up, and pulled his t-shirt off—the bare, immaculate torso exposed for her viewing pleasure—a smile crossed her lips as she realized that what was happening was as real as it gets. She let her eyes slide down his body, taking in every angle and line, every bit of definition of his perfect body, the outline of his torso illuminated by the fire behind them. Then, he set upon her again, his kisses deeper still, more passionate, a hunger now urging him. Olivia could sense his passion, his animal drive; it was as though his bear form was making itself keenly known.

As he kissed her, Olivia removed her own shirt, tossing the clothing across the room with a quick flick of her wrist, the heat from the fire and Ian’s body warming her bare skin. She took a quick glance down at her midsection as Ian moved his lips over the sensitive skin of her neck—she considered herself lucky that her body had quickly returned to its slim, toned shape in these few weeks since giving birth.

These thoughts quickly left her mind as the sensation of Ian’s kisses became almost too much to bare. A moan slipped past her lips as he kissed her, his hands caressing her body. His touch was firm and just rough enough, and she wanted more. Lifting her body, a bit, she undid the fasteners of her bra and tossed it aside, her breasts now bare and exposed. Ian looked over her curves with sensual delight—clearly, the feeling of wanting more was mutual.

His kisses moved down over her breasts, the feeling of his lips on her nipples sending waves of pleasure through her body as his hands continued to move along her curves, down to the waist of her jeans. Olivia took a moment to savor the feeling of his lips on hers, the only sound in the air the crackling of the fire and the gasps escaping from her lips. His hands moved towards the button of her jeans, undoing them deftly. With a pull, he removed her pants, leaving her in nothing but a pair of red
lacy boy-shorts. Olivia returned the favor, undoing the button of his dark jeans and helping him shimmy them down his legs. Her reward was the sight of Ian in nothing but a pair of skin-tight, black boxer-briefs, the bulge of his cock beneath them setting Olivia’s mouth to water. Even hidden beneath the fabric, she could tell that he was packing more than your average man. Much more.

They continued to kiss, and Ian hooked his thumbs behind the waistband of her panties, slipping them down Olivia’s legs. She realized that she should’ve put up at least a token protestation, but the passion she was feeling for Ian was so intense that all she could think about was the burning desire she felt for this man. Once her panties were at her ankles, she kicked them off. Now totally bare and exposed, she felt her body grow hot with the need for Ian to be close to her, to be inside of her. She wanted to lay eyes on the cock still hidden behind the fabric.

She soon got her wish. Ian pushed himself up, the muscles of his arms and shoulders tensing. With a swift motion, he pulled his underwear down and off, his heavy prick bounding free.

Olivia’s eyes widened as she looked upon Ian’s manhood—it was long, thick, and bigger than any man’s she’d ever seen in her life. It hung low, nearly touching her stomach, and she wondered just how she was going to fit it inside of her. Ian slid his hand along her inner thighs, gently opening Olivia’s legs. Seeing his cock, she could think of nothing else but how desperately she wanted to be filled by it.

Then, with a slow, deliberate motion, Ian slid into her.

Olivia winced as he entered her. Fears that she wouldn’t be able to accommodate his size were quickly allayed, her arousal gliding him into her with ease. She wondered just how far he would be able to fit, and was pleased to find that when she looked down, he was completely sheathed within her. The feeling of pleasure was almost too much; her toes curled and her hands clenched into fists, the feeling of Ian inside of her even more intense than her dream had led her to believe it might be. Ian held fast for a moment, letting his cock hold deep within her, his kisses unceasing as his lips moved up and down her neck, along her slim shoulders, over her bare breasts.

When Ian began to move in her, the pleasure was almost too much for Olivia to stand. He started slowly at first, giving her time to accommodate him. The feeling of being filled so completely by a man was an experience unlike anything else. She’d never been with someone of his size before, and all fears that he would be too much were put aside as the pleasure rippled throughout her body. Her lower half was almost numb with ecstasy as he slid in and out of her, her legs as soft and pliable as putty. Olivia’s eyes eagerly scanned Ian’s body, taking in every bit of his taut, toned physique. His hair draped down the sides of his face, his gaze firmly fixed on Olivia, and every now and then a grunt would escape his lips.

Olivia felt that it wasn’t going to take much for him to give her an orgasm, and this suspicion was confirmed when he began fucking her at a faster, steadier pace. Her eyes rolled into the back of her head as he pounded her, the sensation of his cock moving in and out of her at an ever-increasing pace obliterating her with pleasure. Nothing existed for Olivia at that moment other than the overwhelming feeling of Ian fucking her, his thick prick plunging into her repeatedly, his hard gaze on her, making her feel as though she might melt at any moment.

She moved closer and closer to orgasm, the feeling of his cock in her radiating white-hot pleasure through her body. She watched as sweat formed on Ian’s muscles, giving his perfect body a slick sheen. Olivia writhed and moaned beneath him, wrapping her legs around his waist, beckoning him to pound her harder. Soon, the sensation of being so close to orgasm overwhelmed her, and she was unable to hold on to a single thought. Ian’s pounding took on a feverish intensity, the sound of his hips slamming into hers filling the room. Olivia dug her nails into the thick skin of his back as he drove into her, holding herself in place beneath him.

Then, her orgasm broke loose, rampaging through her body, sending convulsions of sheer pleasure running through her. Her skin felt jolted by electricity, the feeling radiating out from where Ian’s cock was buried into her overwhelming her senses. She screamed and moaned as her orgasm did its work on her body, the sweet pleasure almost too much for her to handle.

Ian came soon after, unloading himself into her with a deep grunt, his face tightening into a rictus of pleasure as his orgasm arrived. He drove himself into her with a series of slow, deep thrusts until his orgasm ebbed. Olivia’s own slowed, and as it faded she was reduced to nothing more than a heap of jelly under him.

They caught their breath, their chests rising and falling before the fading light of the fire. Soon, Olivia’s fatigue caught up to her, and she drifted off into a deep sleep.

  CHAPTER 9

Olivia awoke to the sound of birdsong outside of her bedroom window. Having traveled up to her room during the night to check on Noah, she now found herself wrapped in the blankets of her bed, the chill of the fall morning snaking into the room. She wanted to stay wrapped in the warm, toasty sheets, forever shielded against the cool day, but knew that it was only a matter of time before Noah roused her, so she might as well get up now.

Looking over her baby boy, she saw that he was asleep once again. Aside from a crying fit in the middle of the night, he’d slept well, and Olivia counted her blessings once again that she had such a calm, easy-going child. But as she stepped away from the crib and towards the bedroom window, the view over the stretch of frost-touched grass and the cool blue of the lake beyond, the events of last night came flooding back into her mind.

At first, it felt like a dream, no different than the one she had before. But as the images became clearer, she realized that it wasn’t. But Ian wasn’t in bed with her. Indeed, she couldn’t hear him downstairs. However, as she listened through the lilt of birdsong, she could hear the soft thunk of axe through wood. Scooping Noah up and wrapping him in thick blankets to brace against the morning chill, Olivia walked downstairs.

The living room was spotless again, the evidence of their evening removed, aside from the heap of ashes in the fireplace. Looking out through the sliding glass door, Olivia could see that Ian was once again chopping wood, a pile of split logs accumulating next to him.

Olivia wasn’t sure how to act around Ian. Sure, they’d slept together last night, but she had no idea what it meant. Part of her hoped that it would lead to something more, as silly she knew that idea was. She wanted to talk with Ian about it, but she also sensed that he wasn’t the type to be especially loquacious with his feelings. Still, she knew she had to say something.

“Hey,” she said, stepping out onto the deck, Noah held close.

  Ian looked up.

“Hey,” he said, before turning his attention back to his axe.

“Chilly morning,” said Olivia, scolding herself as soon as the words left her mouth for bringing up a topic like the weather.

“Yeah,” he said, just before driving his axe into another log.

  “You…want some coffee?” she asked.

  “Already had some.”

  “Oh, okay.”

A moment passed, another log was split.

  “Breakfast, then?”

  “Nah, I’m good.”

Olivia realized she wasn’t going to get anything else out of him, and stepped back into the house. She felt silly for thinking so, but his lack of communication was exactly what she was afraid of. She went into the kitchen, made herself some coffee and breakfast, and fed Noah before setting into her own meal. Sipping the coffee, which she now preferred black since Noah’s birth for some unknown reason, she wondered just how she was going to handle this situation with Ian. Cleaning up, she realized there was nothing else to do but continue to get the house in order. Still, she felt small and ignored.

Getting Noah settled again, she started on the bedrooms upstairs, cleaning out what she could. Every now and then, she’d encounter a heavy box that she was unable to move, and she would find Ian in hopes of enlisting his as
sistance. With a grunt, he’d agree, moving the box without a word before going back to whatever he’d been busying himself with.

The day passed, both of them eating their meals alone. Olivia found herself missing the easy domesticity that had been developing over the last few days, and she knew she’d be lying if she said she wasn’t craving round two of the amazing sex. But Ian was cold and distant to her. She began to worry if she’d ruined everything by giving in to her desires.

The day finished, and now most of the house was clean. Olivia attempted to talk with Ian every now and then, but he only met her with the same icy indifference. Night descended once again, and Olivia soon found herself growing weary with sleep. She decided to turn in early, thoughts of Ian racing through her head.

Her dream that night was strange. She remembered running through a zoo from someone she couldn’t identify, the caged animals staring at her with blank expressions and glassy eyes as she ran. Noah’s cries sounded through the air, but the further she ran from her pursuers, the softer his cries grew. She finally arrived at a cage holding a massive black bear, the animal greeting her with a mighty roar. When she turned, she saw that the cage had somehow surrounded her, the cries of Noah fading by the moment.

She awoke early the next day in a cold sweat. She tended to Noah as before, and got in the shower, washing the sweat of the strange dream from her body. When she stepped out of the shower, she felt a sense of determination that was foreign to her. Olivia was determined to get an explanation from Ian as to why their encounter resulted in him avoiding her. Dressing herself, she went downstairs. Ian was sitting out on the deck, a steaming cup of coffee on the railing in front of him.
