“I’m afraid to ask. Between her and Julia, they know everything that goes on, everywhere.”
“Would you mind if I went with you to your dad’s? I’m not ready to be away from you yet.”
“I’d love it, and something tells me he will too.”
The next few days were a whirlwind of emotions as they consolidated their two homes into one and prepared for Arlene’s arrival. Bess had been right, the treatment had been easier and Arlene was already out of bed and overseeing the packing of her house. She’d put up a bit of a fight, but quickly gave in under the combined forces of Julia and Bess.
Ally rolled over in bed and grabbed her phone off the nightstand. “Hey, Mom, how are you?”
“Fantastic. Okay, that might be a stretch, but I’m feeling pretty good, all things considered. I wanted to ask you a favor.”
“Sure, anything, you know that.”
“When I was in the waiting room the other day, one of the other patients told me about a new drug trial. They’re having phenomenal results, or so this patient said. I was hoping you’d come with me to the informational meeting I set up.”
“Of course, when is it?”
“Friday night. I know you have the party at the bank, and I hate to ask…”
Ally glanced over her shoulder at Keir and raised a brow, knowing he’d have heard every word her mother had said.
“Sure, we can take her, no problem. My father will understand.”
“You bet, Mom, Keir and I will be there. Can you text me the details?”
“Sure thing, now I’ve got to run. We’re packing up the last of the house and I’ll be there bright and early tomorrow.”
“I hope you don’t mind a bit of a welcoming party. Last I heard everyone is so excited to see you that we might bombard you.”
“In that case, how about we let the movers do their thing and I have Julia bring me to your new home. I’d love to see it anyway.”
“That’s perfect. See you tomorrow.
Ally rolled over and laid her head on her mate’s chest. “You mind if we get bombarded?”
“No, they’re family, they can never be a bother. But right now I’ve got much more important things on my mind.”
She raised her brows, curious as to what was on his mind. “Oh, and what’s that?”
He licked her shoulder. “I want to make you mine.”
“When?” she gulped, loving the wild look in his eyes.
“Now.”
Ally went up on one elbow. “Now? But I thought—”
He shook his head. “Thought what? That living together would be it?” Keir chuckled, running a finger down her soft cheek. “When have I ever settled for just ‘it’?”
Warmth started in both her cheeks and her lower belly. Keir never settled. Not in life and certainly not in the bedroom, although why he wanted her still boggled her mind.
As if he could read the doubt in her eyes, he cupped her cheek. “It’s you, Ally. Only you, and if you don’t know that by now then I haven’t done my job.”
“Job?” She held her breath.
“Working your luscious body until it craves mine every second of every day, the way mine craves yours. You’re mine, Ally. My mate, and it’s about time I showed you just how much I want you.”
He kicked the covers from them both and then pulled her close, his lips taking her mouth. He ran a raspy tongue along the bottom seam and she opened for him. Hungry and determined, he kissed her deep, and she met the challenge.
As their breath mingled and tongues tangled, Ally dug her fingers into Keir’s hair as he rolled her beneath him. His mouth moved from her lips to her throat, trailing along the deep cleft between her full breasts. He took one nipple and flicked the hardening peak, grazing his teeth along the puckering bud.
Ally moaned and arched higher and he smiled against her soft flesh, reaching for her other breast. “Fuck, baby. Your skin is like silk.” He thumbed her nipple while his mouth sucked and teased the other.
Wetness pooled between her legs and he chuckled. “Mmmm. I love the scent of your wet sex.” He slid lower, pushing himself between her legs and knelt with his face inches from her slick pink folds. “But I love the taste of you more.”
With his thumb, he circled her clit before dipping his mouth to the hard nub. He slipped the sensitive bud between his lips and pulled, letting it pop from his mouth before spreading her wide to lick her wet entrance.
“Open for me, Ally. Take your hands and let me see you spread yourself.”
Ally let her knees drop wide and slid a hand down her belly until she slipped her fingers into her folds. One finger, then another dipped inside as he watched her work herself.
“That’s it, baby. Curl your fingers deep. Work those hips.”
She arched her back, her hand tense, and, as though he knew she was close, he pulled her fingers from her cleft, lifting the slick coated digits to his mouth.
“Good to the last drop.” He grinned, licking his fingers clean.
“Keir! Stop playing!” Ally’s eyes flashed, insistent and angry.
His eyes met hers and his fingers trailed the inside flesh of her thighs, just brushing her swollen pink sex. “What is it you want, then?”
“You! Your cock! Your … your…”
He flicked her clit with his thumb again and she cried out, near begging. “My?”
“Your mark! All right? I want it all! Everything. Your hardness. Deep. Coming inside me. I want your babies.”
He growled and his lion was there beneath the surface, ready to claim her, take her, own her, have her as his alone.
Slipping his hands under her ass, he flipped her onto all fours and without missing a beat, pulled her hips back, driving his cock into her waiting sex. He buried his cock shaft deep, holding her tight while his head swelled inside.
“You feel that, baby?” He lifted her against his chest, one arm tight around her waist while the other worked her clit. “That’s my head ready to blow. Not like before.” He kissed her throat, letting the hand on her waist slip over sweat-sheened skin to her breast, pinching her nipple.
“I’m so deep inside you, you’re going to feel me for days.”
She turned her head and he took her mouth, driving his cock up and in, lifting her with each thrust. “You’re mine, inside and out. Always.”
He let her climax build until tears pricked her eyes, her body ready to explode.
“Come for me, baby. Milk every drop from my cock.” He let go of her waist and Ally fell forward, arching her back so her ass rose high.
Keir grabbed her hips and pulled back, driving his member hard and Ally’s body shuddered as she came, her walls spasming against his thickness as he slammed into her over and over.
He held her hips tight, his head back as he roared, his shaft forcing his release deep inside. He held his lion back, allowing only his canines to descend, his fangs piercing her skin as she came again.
Ally cried out, her body trembling as he took her nape and her pussy, until his tongue swiped the tender spot at the base of her neck. She slumped forward, taking him with her, and the two collapsed on the bed, his arms around her tight.
“You are mine now, Ally. In all ways.”
She inhaled their salty, sex sweat scent, her body still trembling with aftershocks. “I always was, Keir.”
He growled against her hair. “That kind of talk might get a lady fucked again.”
Their bodies still entwined, she ground her ass back and his member thickened inside. “I’m yours for the taking.”
CHAPTER 18
She’d done it. Ally had lost her mind and gave into his insistence to go out to do something fun. What his idea of fun meant was a local carnival that had gone up not long ago at a high school near them.
After walking around all over the place, eating all kinds of delicious, fattening—but who cared about fat, right?—carnival food, she was now being coerced into going on a roller coaster. She didn’t do roller coa
sters. She was not the kind of person who found them to be much fun. If he got her to enjoy it, it would be a first.
“No.”
“What do you mean ‘no’? It’s fun, Ally. C’mon. You’ll love it.”
She gave him a short laugh. “Yeah, right, like I’d like having my head shoved in a lion’s mouth.”
Keir pulled her close and licked the leftover cotton candy sugar from the corner of her mouth. “No, but you love other parts of you shoved in a lion’s mouth.”
Heat flamed in Ally’s cheeks. “Say it a little louder, why don’tcha? I don’t think the people on Thunder Mountain heard you.” She pouted and he nibbled the side of her lips.
“It’s an amusement park, Ally. Fun, remember? Rides, carnival food?”
She gave him a playful shove and then swiped the bag of cotton candy from his hand, digging in for another handful. “Carnival food, yes.” She plopped a finger full of the spun sugar into her mouth, letting it crystalize. “Speeding down a ninety-degree angle at breakneck speed is not my idea of a fun time.”
Keir tugged her arm. “C’mon. You have to try it before you can say that. I’ll be there to keep you safe. You have nothing to worry about.”
She exhaled reluctantly. “More like you’ll be there for them to scrape from under my body when we crash to the ground.”
He laughed. “We haven’t tried that yet.”
“What? Dying?”
“No. You on top.”
She groaned. “Sex on the brain, Keir. Sex on the brain.”
He kissed the side of her hair and handed the ride engineer their tickets. “Only when I’m with you, baby.”
They walked through the turnstile and waited to climb into the next car as it pulled into the end track.
“The front? You’re seriously making me sit in the front car?”
“C’mon. It’s safe as kittens.”
She rolled her eyes, climbing in beside him. “Says the lion.”
He laughed as ride personnel checked their safety bars. “Hold on to my arm if you need.”
Ally’s fingers gripped the pull bar. “You are so going to owe me after this.”
The ride ticked to the top of the hill and then paused. She squeezed her eyes shut.
“Here we go!”
She screamed as the car plummeted down the track, her hair blowing back as inertia made her stomach fall. “I so hate you right now, you giant fur ball!”
“No you don’t. You love the rush same as me, I can smell it on you.”
Ally gritted her teeth. “What you smell is my urge to kill you!” She screamed again as the ride dipped and then stopped. “Oh my GOD! We’re stuck. I knew it! Arrgh! Keir!”
He slipped his arm around her shoulder and shook his head. “Trust me. We’re not stuck.”
“Then why did we stop?”
A slow grin spread across his lips as the car lurched back a foot.
“Oh no!” Her eyes flew to his. “It’s not…”
He nodded. “Oh, yes it is. Hold on, babe! We’re doing it all again. Backwards!”
Ally clutched the grab bar, squeezing her eyes shut. “I hate you so bad right now.”
He kissed her hair and then let go of her, his arms going up in the air. “No you don’t. You love me.”
Her eyes snapped open and she blinked before finding his laughing gaze. Did she? Was that in her scent too?
Keir winked and before she could think, the ride was over. The track click-clacked in slow motion as they pulled into the ride’s end, and she watched his face. Did he know when she wasn’t sure herself?
He climbed out of the ride and held out his hand for hers. “So, what do you think? Am I right?”
She licked her lips, not sure what question he meant her to answer. The ride or that she loved him. Sliding her eyes to his, she slipped her hand into his waiting palm and let him help her out of the car.
“Well?”
Shrugging, she tightened her hand in his, going up on tiptoe to peck his lips. “I’ll let you know.”
The rest of the day went by in a blur, but she couldn’t deny how much fun they’d had. Especially when they got home and he’d agreed to help get the carnival grime off her by going in the shower together. That had been a great ending to a surprisingly fun day.
* * *
Keir felt antsy as he walked beside Ally and Arlene. There was a weird smell in the air and he couldn’t place his finger on what it was. The building was nice enough for a medical facility, stark and white. Everyone seemed competent and pleasant, but there was just something off and it was driving his lion crazy.
“What’s wrong with you?” Ally hissed out of the side of her mouth. “You’re like a two-year-old who can’t sit still.”
“I don’t know, something’s off about this place. Are you sure it’s legitimate?”
“No, Mom didn’t tell me much about it. That’s why we’re here, to get information.”
“Mrs. Fosey?” a nasally voice called out before the woman stepped forward and caught their eye.
“Alison?” Keir said in astonishment.
“Keir. What are you doing here?”
Ally glared at the tall brunette that had accosted her in the bathroom, warning her away from Keir all those weeks ago.
“I told you I was a nurse, did you forget?”
“No, it was just a surprise is all.”
Alison’s smile faltered as she noticed him holding Ally’s hand for the first time. “Oh, you are with her still, I see.”
“Yes, she’s my mate. I’ll always be with her, Alison.”
“Excuse me, but you said Mrs. Fosey, right? That’s me.”
“Yes, right, I’m sorry. Follow me if you will,” Alison said with a tight-lipped smile.
“My daughter and son-in-law can join me, right?”
Alison gritted her teeth and nodded. “Of course they can.”
Ally bit her lip and squeezed Keir’s hand. “That’s the woman who accosted me in the bathroom,” she whispered quietly so only he’d hear her words.
“I should have known. I ended our date quickly. Something was never right about her. Figures she’d be here when I have the same feeling about this place.”
They followed behind Alison and listened as she praised the doctors and the miracle cures they were accomplishing. Ally frowned, that didn’t seem right to her either. She might not be a shifter, but even she knew logically that miracle cures didn’t happen very often.
“If you’ll all have a seat, the doctor will be in shortly. Keir, it was lovely to see you again, I hope we can meet up sometime.”
“Not likely. What part of ‘he’s mine’ do you not get?” Ally growled as she stepped forward before she could stop herself. “Go away and stay far away from us.”
Alison retreated with a squeak and slammed the door shut behind her.
“Damn, babe, that was sexy,” Keir said as he released his hold on Ally and moved to sit beside Arlene. “Did you ever think you’d see that?”
“Oh, yes. My girl has a temper, and she won’t allow anyone to mess with what belongs to her. We don’t share well, if you haven’t figured that out yet.”
“It’s okay, I think it’s hot,” Keir whispered.
“You think everything I do is hot,” Ally snapped back with a scowl.
“Are you mad at me?” Keir asked in shock. “What did I do?”
“Nothing, that’s the problem.”
Ally wasn’t sure why she was so upset, but she was. It had to be this place; she’d been on edge ever since she’d walked in the front door. Finding out that that tramp worked here was icing on the cake.
“Hello, everyone, my name’s Dr. Brunson. You must be Arlene Fosey, and who did you bring with you?”
“Hi, yes, it’s a pleasure to meet you. This is my daughter, Ally, and my son-in-law, Keir.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you all. Let’s get down to business. As you know, you have a very rare form of cancer. The good news is that
my treatment has a very high success rate; the bad news is that insurance doesn’t cover it and the cost can be quite prohibitive for some people.”
Ally started to reply but before she could, Keir was across the table and had the doctor by the throat.
“Keir, what are you doing?” Arlene cried in a panic.
“He’s lying, Arlene.”
“What? How?” She stumbled as she paled and looked to Ally for answers.
“He can smell lies, Mom. Remember, I told you about that ability. This piece of garbage is lying about the treatment success.”
“Let me go before I call the police,” the doctor demanded furiously.
“Ally, call Bess, have her get someone on this place now,” Keir growled as he stepped closer to the man. “You lying bastard, how many people have you swindled, taken their life savings and promised them a cure?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” The man gasped as his face reddened from lack of oxygen.
“That’s what I smell: lies, death, and despair.”
“Keir, let him breathe, please,” Ally called calmly from her seat by the door.
As soon as he loosened his hold, the doctor yelled for help. Moments later, the office door swung open and two well-muscled men walked in the room scowling.
“Throw these people out, this man accosted me!” the doctor yelled belligerently.
“Touch them and you will die,” Keir snarled. “Ally, get your mom out of here.”
“Be careful, baby,” Ally whispered as she pulled her mom to her feet and out the door.
“Is he going to fight them?” Arlene asked frantically.
“Not if he can help it, but I’m not sure he’s going to have much of a choice. He’s not letting that doctor get away with the things he’s done here. Bess already has someone on their way, she’d been researching the place after Keir gave her their information. She’d suspected something already. Now if Keir can hold the doctor and not allow him to escape, he’ll go to prison.”
Arlene gasped and glanced back to the closed office door. “That was a rather large thump, wasn’t it?”
Ally shrugged. “The bigger they are, the harder they fall.”
“Aren’t you worried?”
“No, Keir can handle them without a problem.”
