Blue Moon Magic, Book 1: By the Blue Moon

  Debi Wilder

Chastity Langford is turning 34 and she couldn’t understand her sudden fascination with sex. She can’t get enough -- whether it is in her office or in an elevator, she wants to find out what it is like to have a man make love to her. But being the eldest of three sisters in the affluent Langford family means she has to be secretive and hide her hunger. What Chastity doesn't know is that the thirst for sex goes hand-in-hand with discovering exactly who, or what, she is…the prophecy of three Princesses born within three years, the red-haired being the eldest and most prized among them. Her perfect heart-shaped face and yellow-green eyes hold the promise of the lust level known only to those who possess the ancient she-wolf looks.

Justin Matthews has been promised the eldest daughter of the Elite clan…a clan of superior werewolves who are more human than werewolf. Highly intelligent and well adapted to the world, Justin and the clan have lived among humans for centuries. A world where a wolfen society survives among humans, living for the season of the Blue Moon. The rite of passage would soon take place where Justin would claim his lifemate or die trying to protect her. Justin came to the United States to claim his bride, but also to finish what had been left undone. Only Charles Langford knows that Justin is a direct descendant of Remington Sinclair, the first of the Elite clan. They must keep his identity secret until the night of the binding ceremony. It is then that he will redeem his life in another lifetime.

With the season of the Blue Moon comes the likelihood of danger and death. The Beta clan and lowest form of werewolves is commanded by Rowan, a tough, bitter werewolf who hates the Elites and their superiority. The Betas, more werewolf than human, believe only the foretold red- or blonde-haired girl babies born to the Elite clan in a span of three years bring them into a world they only look at from the depths of the Brey Forest. The night of the Blue Moon will afford them the perfect opportunity to take the eldest of the sisters…Chastity Langford.

Charity Langford has a secret passion. The middle daughter of Charles Langford, leader of the Elite clan, has no idea that she’s a werewolf. Coming into heat is causing a reckless need for sex that haunts her day and night. She figures her hormones are all screwed up being a thirty-two-year-old virgin. As IT director at Langford and Langford, she has an image to uphold, so she can’t give in to temptation. Things heat up when, after the company successfully fends off attacks by hackers and Charity is subsequently threatened, her father hires hunky PI Lucas Kendal to look after her. Kendal exudes a rugged kind of sexuality that makes her crazy. Luckily, she finds an online adult site to help her get her rocks off. Heated sessions with her cyber Laird are keeping her sane.

Lucas Kendal, an Alpha half-breed, is a wolf without a pack. After being rescued from Beta captivity by the Elite, he fulfils a promise to come back and be Charity’s mate. He knows that her father only allows this because she’s in danger from the Betas. Lucas knows full well that, having missed his chance to capture oldest daughter Chastity last year, Rowan Angus would do anything to get his hands on Charity and turn wolfen society upside down. The pheromones she gives off are a temptation for every rogue wolf in the area hoping to bed and wed a Princess. He’s a Lobo, a strong hand to protect her and teach her about sex and who she is. He knows he’s being used, but he doesn’t mind. She won’t bind with him when she finds out the truth, but teaching her all about passion will be sweet.

As the third of the Langford sisters, Clarity Langford thinks she is immune to the full moon and Blue Moon nonsense plaguing her older sisters. Being pure human, she knows what her sisters went through, even if they didn’t at the time. Her psychic powers seem to be the only redeeming quality making her one with the rest of her family. At least they won’t be trying to find her a mate. She likes having sex with multiple partners too much to ever be saddled with one man.

Tom Morrison has been selected to be Clarity’s mate. As the third son of another Elite clan, he knows exactly what Clarity’s life is like. He also has psychic powers and senses that Clarity is in trouble. When they mate, on the night of the full moon, he is pleased to see his mating mark on her. He knows this was predestined, but can he keep her safe until the Blue Moon and their own wedding ceremony?

Blue Moon Magic, Book 4: Night of the Blue Moon…

  Prologue

He had always been in this cage in one way or another. It was only recently they had decided to make it his permanent room. He could remember a time when the cage hadn’t been necessary, when he had been a younger man, but that had all changed with the appearance of the blonde bitch. Or had it?

Since Connor Logan Angus had grown to manhood, it was as if the whole clan was afraid of him, of what he could do. They were his family, weren’t they? He shook his head furiously. Of course they were. He had always been with them, had never known anything else. Then why did he feel like he didn’t belong? Why did it feel like he was an outsider? And it just wasn’t the fact of his ice-blue eyes or white-blond hair anymore; there was more to it and he knew it.

Again, he could trace it back to the time about five years ago when some of the Betas had brought back a prize, claiming it to be an Elite Princess. Being the good son, he stayed in the shadows like his father Rowan had wanted. His father always wanted him in the shadows. He never wanted him to be seen at all and Connor couldn’t understand why. He was one of the best fighters in the clan and it irked him to no end th
at he was never allowed to go and fight with his brothers. Nevertheless, Father always assured him he was being saved for something special.

And that night had been no different. Kill and Rufus had brought the woman in, dragging her while she fought the whole time. Connor had always done what he was told but this time it felt wrong. Really wrong. He warred with himself until he could stand it no more. He stepped out of the shadows only to be hit by a psychic wave of energy that nearly dumped him on his ass.

Don’t let them do this to me, she pleaded, the voice booming in his head.

It took everything in him to not react. Sure, he had been told that he had special powers, but no one had prepared him for what they might be. He knew he could change into a wolf but it had only happened once. Being able to hear another’s thoughts, now that was something totally new and unimaginable. Again, he willed himself not to react at all, pressing his new-found gift further within himself.

“Connor,” snarled Kill, “get back into the shadows. You don’t want Father to know you were out here.”

Confused, he turned to him. “I -- why are you doing this?” he questioned. This was the first time he had ever questioned his brother. Many who did so did not live to tell the tale.

“It’s none of your affair. Just do what you’re told.” Kill shoved him out of his way. “If you don’t watch it, you’ll be caged like the animal you are.”

Connor, more confused than ever, slunk back into the shadows and watched. This was not the time to try and best his brother. Not knowing if he would succeed, he tried to contact the woman. I’m sorry, I can’t help you. Although he was deep in the shadows, her head pivoted his way, and as if realizing her mistake, looked in another direction.

  Who are you?

The voice was loud and clear. There was no mistaking that he had a telepathic link to this woman. More confused than ever, he shook his head. My name is Connor Logan Angus.

But you can’t be one of them.

I am a member of the Beta clan. I am the third son.

  That can’t be.

  And why not?

Can you link with them like you are with me?

  I don’t know. I’ve never tried.

Whether you know it or not, I do.

  How?

Only those of the same clan or family members can link. I’m an Elite. So what does that make you?

Connor sank back into the shadows even more. That sick feeling he had been having recently floated to the top again. That’s impossible. There’s no way I can be part of your clan. I don’t understand any of this.

  That makes two of us.

The rescue had been a success. How they had survived a trip through time was beyond Clarity. Even more astounding was the fact that Lucas had altered time for them and moved their mating forward. Tom had taken her home right away to be healed. She was lucky to have remembered the capac root. Now she was mated and they were preparing to leave on their honeymoon. But there was something she needed to do first.

“Clarity, we really need to get ready to leave. We just had our mating ceremony last night, for heaven’s sake.” Tom tucked the blanket more tightly around her as he snuggled closer.

Smiling at the man she loved, she couldn’t help but remember a similar gesture when she had first arrived home. Clarity had been shivering intensely when she first got back and the chill in her bones seemed to take hours to go away. Even though she appeared unconscious, she had actually been in a state somewhere in-between. Thank God, Tom had been there. She knew now he was truly the only one who could warm her heart and soul.

“I’ve got to do this, Tom. I can’t explain it. I don’t have a choice. I have to see my father before we leave on our honeymoon. Please.” She hoped that she put on her most pleading look. She knew she would do it with or without his permission and she forced herself to grow stronger by the minute so he wouldn’t question her mental health. When she had returned from the future, she wouldn’t tell him initially what was on her mind. She knew he would fear she would have a mental breakdown because what she had learned had changed her whole world. Once he did find out, he had helped her work through the details. Still, it didn’t negate the fact she needed to talk to her father.

Tom sighed. “All right, but you have to promise to make it quick. I still don’t think you’re all that well yet…you seem different. Promise?” He looked down at her, love filling his eyes.

“I promise. Just be there with me. I’m not sure he’s going to like what I have to say.” She reached for his arm.

“I’ll never leave your side again. You get into too much trouble without me.” He smiled down at her and gently caressed the side of her face.

Satisfied, she snuggled up against him, determined to rest a moment before leaving to confront her father. Before she knew it, Tom shook her gently to rouse her. Sitting up, she realized she still had some aches that would take more than a good sleep to heal. Maybe Tom was right, maybe she wasn’t as strong as she thought.

“We can wait till we get back,” Tom stated quietly.

“This can’t wait. We need to go to Langford & Langford and talk to my father.”

  “I can’t stop you, can I?”

“No…this needs to be done now,” she said, frowning.

“All right, let’s get dressed and down there quickly. I was hoping for a shower together before we leave. You sure your father will be there? It’s awfully early.”

“Absolutely. He’s a workaholic. Especially with what has happened in the last few days.” Kissing him gently, she hovered over him for a moment before getting up. “I’m sure we’ll have time for that shower before we go.”

Once out of the somewhat leisurely shower, they dressed quickly and it was only a matter of minutes before Clarity climbed out of the limo and headed for the back door of Langford & Langford. Thank God for the hour; most of the employees would still be at home in bed.

Heading for the private elevator, she was again thankful Tom was by her side. Sighing, she wondered if he wasn’t right. Maybe she didn’t have the strength to do this now; maybe she did need to talk to him more, giving things time to settle, as he kept insisting she do. Right now, though, all she wanted was to get this over. The doors slid open and her chance to back out had passed. Mustering all her strength, she stood straight and walked out of the elevator, Tom kept pace.

Looking to her right, she saw her father’s ever-faithful secretary, Cordelia, at her desk. The woman had been with her father what had seemed like a lifetime, though Clari knew it couldn’t be as the woman was barely over forty. “Little early isn’t it, Cordy?”

Surprise was evident on her face. That one look spoke volumes. Just how much did she know about her father?

“Clarity. We didn’t expect you here this morning. Aren’t you supposed to leave on your honeymoon today?”

“Yes, I’m supposed to be leaving. I’m sorry if I’ve put a kink in your timetable, Cordy. Why? Is it going to be a problem?”

“He’s having a meeting with the council.”

“Good, they need to hear this too.” She walked to the door and was about to open it.

“Clarity, I can’t let you go in there. It’s supposed to be a private meeting.” Cordy had stepped up behind her.

“Too bad. Tom, restrain her if you have to, please.” Receiving a slight nod from her mate as he grabbed the woman’s arms, she pushed open the doors and turned right into the conference room.

All eyes turned her way. “Hello, Father.”

“Clarity, you should be getting ready for your honeymoon. This isn’t the place for you right now,” her father stated flatly from his chair across the conference table. .

  “I beg to differ.”

Charles Langford tugged on his beard, a sign that Clarity knew meant he was agitated. “What is so damn important that you had to come here instead of getting on that plane to leave? We are trying to figure out what our next move should be. We cannot let this ki
dnapping go unnoticed even though they took a beating in a fair fight. They’ll be back.”

Clarity took a deep breath. “Why the hell didn’t you tell us we had a brother?”

  Chapter One

Charles Langford looked out the window of his penthouse office. After Clarity’s startling revelation she had collapsed in a heap at his feet. Tom had rushed in and immediately scooped her into his arms, vowing to him that he would make her take it easy on their honeymoon. That had been fourteen days ago. Fourteen very long days. He was glad she had been gone because he had wanted her to heal first before this family meeting. He needed each of them to be in the best frame of mind possible. There were things that needed to be discussed and figured out. Things that he didn’t want to even think about at the moment.

Still, he found himself reflecting on a different time, on a different woman. Sighing, he couldn’t help but remember her white-blonde hair, her quick temper, and their almost violent lovemaking. Determinedly, he put her out of his mind. He couldn’t change the past but he was damn sure he would change the future. How had they never known? How had they all missed something as important as his son?

So deep in thought, he didn’t hear the door open.

  “Mr. Langford, they’re all here.”

He looked up to see his secretary, Cordelia, waiting for instructions. He knew she would stand there patiently for as long as it took.

  “Let them in.”

He stood up, dreading what lay ahead. Seeing his wife, Joanna, he held out his hand to her. This woman was so very different than the one in his memory. “Let’s make this less formal and sit in the lounge, please.”

The lounge was an area of his office with comfortable chairs and couches. It was meant for those long council meetings, which sometimes needed a more intimate touch. And this was certainly something that needed a more intimate touch. Charles went to his favorite chair, leading his wife. Sitting down heavily, he was glad for her healing presence. It had been that presence that had led him out of the darkest period of his life. Smiling up at her, he was glad she had taken her favorite place upon the leather chair’s wide arm within his reach.
