Clara: “were you there last night when I was in the woods?”

  Ezequiel: “yes”.

Clara: “was the masked figure someone I know?”

  Ezequiel: “no”.

Clara: “were the group at the bench there for a good cause?”

  Ezequiel: “no”.

Clara: “Does the message on my website connect with last night?”

  Ezequiel: “yes”.

Clara got chills up and down her spine but she knew this was the answer anyhow. She continued her questioning.

Clara: “am I being targeted in some way?”

  Ezequiel: “yes”.

  Clara: “Am I in danger?”

Clara felt the weight of the pendulum change and almost a magnetic spark up her arm as it shook side to side with more speed and force for a resounding, “yes”.

Clara: “would you please come into my dreams soon and let me know what steps I can take to overcome this?”

Ezequiel: “I don’t want to answer”.

Clara suddenly felt a zap in her head and a ringing in her ears. She felt like she was now abusing her privileges. She thanked the spirit for his time and his guidance. Clara didn’t open up her shop for the rest of the day for fear of what may happen to her. For the second time in her life, she didn’t feel safe. She did feel she was being watched.

  Chapter 8: Time Taken Away

Clara Rodrigues knew she had to be careful. Clara’s psychic ability never failed her. However living in a small town all her life did not prepare her for what was going to happen to her next. Up until now she was pretty oblivious to the town around her. She lived her life peacefully, other than the death of her mother a few years back. Clara loved her mother very much. They were very close, and lived together into mother’s dying days. When her mother passed, Clara was devastated. However, Ezequiel helped Clara along the way to heal and to become whole again.

Clara was oblivious therefore was not on guard. Certainly, there were characters in her town that were a bit ‘off’. However, this was her town and her familiarity which was common to her. She accepted reality as it was. Her coffee shop was her rock and she ran it well. She enjoyed it. Did she want more in her life? Yes, she wished to build a family someday but not now. Clara felt quite complete with her ability. She felt quite aware and at peace with the universe. That is until her observations of the group and the masked man. Those images kept flashing in her head as she went through her day.

Questions probed her mind. Where did the group go to? How long was this going on for? What was going on, really? And now this message which she learned was connected to her experience in the woods. Everything resounded with a thump in her stomach. It didn’t feel good at all. However she couldn’t read why the bad feelings were compounding. Also, Ezequiel didn’t come into her dreams last night. That was unlike him. It was almost like some signal was interrupting her connection to the spirit world.

Clara fumbled through the day and then locked up her shop. It was dark now and very still in the town. Usually at this time of night there is some activity on the streets at night. Clara walked to the doors off to the left to get to her apartment above the shop. As she found the key to that door, she lost her consciousness.

  Chapter 9: The Notorious Cave

Clara was coming to and her mind was panicky however she could not move her body. It was paralyzed. She realized she was in and out of consciousness as she tried to make sense of her surroundings. The walls were rocky and she saw hints of scarlet red painted about. She heard murmurs but couldn’t make out any words.

As Clara opened her eyes again, she saw a pulpit made of dark wood. She moved her eyes and saw a group gathered off in the distance of about 6 people. They were cloaked and stood in a circle. They all wore dark red cloaks and those same black masks she saw on the figure two nights before. She did hear chanting now in what seemed like an hour after her first observation. Time was moving slow for her.

She opened her eyes again as she heard moaning coming from a closer distance. She could move her head a little more now and looked the other way opposite from the cloaked group. Was she dreaming? She saw a lady, completely naked save for the black mask. Her long blond hair cascaded over her shoulders and her arched back. Some hair now flung forward, touching her perky breasts softly. It seemed like she was riding a goat. What? The lady was riding a man with a goat head and moaning in ecstasy. The man with the goat head held the lady’s hips and grabbed her ass as she rode him. It seemed as if the chanting was getting faster and the man and woman who were in coitus were moving in the rhythm of the chanting.

The cave was dark with the exception of many candles being lit around the pillars, pulpit, man and woman and the group. Another woman approached the couple who were having sex. This woman removed her cloak, naked underneath and started painting the blond lady on the back with a pentagram symbol. It seemed liked she was painting with blood. The painter then did the same to the man’s chest and then pulled the blond lady’s hair back, removed her own mask just a little, so her mouth was exposed. She then started sucking on the blond lady’s breasts. The blond lady writhed her body back and forth in pleasure. The painter started touching herself and then mounted the man with the goat head, behind the blond lady. Their bodies touched and it was apparent that the painter was rubbing herself onto the blond lady.

Clara was so confused. She was moving her hands now and realized she shouldn’t have as another woman approached Clara in a panic. This lady did not have a mask on. It seems as if she was getting ready to partake in the orgy when she realized Clara was moving. The lady approaching had a needle in her hand and cocked it towards Clara’s neck. Clara moved around trying to get a glimpse of the lady. She saw black hair and a brown skin tone. As soon as the lady’s facial features came into focus they soon went out of focus as the needle’s potency invaded her body. She froze for that second before she lost consciousness again and her third eye spoke for her. Clara heard Ezequiel’s voice confirm what she saw.

It was Reema Shankar, the librarian.
