“Oh, a baby,” Tracy cooed cutting him off and rushing to hug Delphene, who laughed even harder at the panicked distress on Jarrett’s face.
“Hold on. Let me explain. It’s not what you think. We thought…well it…he needed a good home.”
“You’re adopting? It’s a boy?” Amanda said.
“Kinda, I mean he’s not even really mine.”
“His name is Chief,” little Collett pronounced proudly.
Knowing his daughter's talents, Jonah looked to his sister-in-law Ashley, and noting the gleam in her eyes he began to laugh as he figured out the puzzle. Leaning over he whispered in Tracy’s ear.
Jarrett crouched down to look at Collett with a grin. “How’d you know that?”
“He told me so,” she answered matter-of-factly.
Ashley grinned proudly. She knew the secret as well, and couldn’t believe the strength of her niece’s talent. “Well then, let’s see him.”
Jarrett unzipped the bag by his feet and a little German shepherd puppy peeked out. The little girls gathered around him with little ooo’s and awe’s.
“See Mom,” Collett said excited, “he’s a baby.”
“Yeah, I see.”
“Girls,” Jarrett pronounced. “Meet Chief. Chief, meet your new family.”
The little puppy licked Essie’s face and Cynda awkwardly helped him out of the bag with her little hands and he scrambled out of her toddler grip. Chief stood there for a minute looking around and then promptly peed on the rug.
“Uh oh,” Essie said as the puppy ran off toward the smell of food. Three little dark-haired girls chased after him with bell-like giggles.

I hope you all enjoyed this story. I want to express my deepest love for those who helped me complete this series. Writing a story like this one is not a single person project. While story is in my head, my friends make it an adventure.
Thanks to Rusty for late night calls, and a voice of conscience when I needed it. Thanks to my eldest daughter and my husband for all the help on fight scenes. Thanks to Stephanie and Derek for good laughs and watchful eyes. Thanks to Kim for helping me polish the diamond in the rough and thanks to my editor, Brian Tedesco at Pubsolvers. I am grateful to my second daughter for her cover idea and love the translation of that idea designed by Expertsubjects. Also I want to thank to my favorite bands, Imagine Dragons, and Skillet for helping me see the action in my head. Also, I give a big shout out to all my beta readers.
Most of all, thanks to my Father in Heaven for the talent to tell the story, the family that encouraged me, and the loving husband who supported my dream! Finally, thanks to all of you readers for taking a chance on me!
