“Do you want to guess?” she asked, playfulness in her voice.
“Hmmmm. You ordered my favorite dinner?”
“Not even close.”
A devilish smile came across his face. “You have something planned for later.”
Laughing, Ginny shook her head. “You, husband, are insatiable.”
Kissing the back of her hand, he asked, “Are you with child, Corliss?”
Shocked, she asked, “How did you know?”
“I am one of the finest physicians in St. Lucia. I saw the signs.”
“And are you happy?”
Pulling her into his lap and kissing her again, he pulled away and said, “Oh, yes. I doubt I could be happier.”
Tucking her head under his chin, enjoying his warmth, Ginny closed her eyes. She took in her surroundings one more time. She could smell the sweet flowers growing around their porch, and she could feel the gentle breeze coming off the ocean. And finally, she could sense how Corliss fit perfectly with Spencer. It took her a few tries this time around to find the right man, and she was glad she didn't settle, at least for Corliss's sake.
But, as usual, it was time to go. She didn't fight the dizziness or rail against it. It was her life now, for however long it was meant to be. Ginny was ready for her next adventure, though a part of her hoped that it would be her real life. Carpe Diem.
