“Probably.” Zeke agreed.
“Don’t interrupt. You told me I was your only person in the world, but you have a whole family and you shared them with me. For the first time in my life, I’m not afraid of being left alone and that’s because of you. You told me that it was pointless to save people, but you’ve saved hundreds. Maybe more. Almost everyone in this town is here today because of you. You told me that being a shape shifter was basically the same as being a human, but it’s not. It’s so much better and you gave me that.”
Zeke cleared his throat. “You are an awesome shape shifter.” He got out huskily. “That’s all you, Trix.” The woman had an incredible talent for choosing just the right animal for any occasion. It was a gift.
“Don’t interrupt.” She said and kept going with her vows. “You told me you were nobody’s hero, but you have protected me and loved me and been beside me every step of the way. You’re the man I’ve been waiting my whole life to marry.” She reached up to touch the side of his face. “So, you are somebody’s hero, Zeke Macready. You’re mine.”
Zeke didn’t even wait for Patrick to finish the ceremony. He swept Scotlyn off her feet, while the leprechaun was still on the closing remarks. Zeke’s lips found hers, happier than he’d ever thought possible. Scotlyn’s arms wrapped around his neck, kissing him back while everyone cheered.
And Zeke knew it wasn’t the end of the world, after all.
It was just the beginning.
