Welcome to Lake Ventures (New Haven Book 2) Page 41

by Dawn Doyle

“So, Nick. Have you been to LA?” David asked suddenly. “The guys have made good progress.”

“Yeah, they’ve been keeping us updated. It’s looking good.”

“When are you going back?” He asked. Emily knew they would find out she was going too and she was dreading what was coming.

“Tomorrow. Emmy and I have a flight booked for the morning.”

All eyes turned to her and she wanted to crawl under the table away from them.

“You’re going together… Again?” Mia asked. She certainly seemed interested that they were.

“Yes.” Nick looked at his Mum like it was nothing that they were going together.

“That’s nice.” She smiled and Ryan just looked between them. Like he was trying to figure something out.

“How long are you going for?”

  “Just overnight.”

“Overnight? You sure you can cope with him for that long, Em?” Ryan asked with a smirk.

  “I can handle Nick, Ry.”

I want to handle him right now!

Emily could feel her pulse racing with anxiety. It felt just like all the times she’d hidden her feelings away.

“See? I told you he’s lost his powers.” He laughed.

The conversation was steered away from them and Emily was grateful that Kyle had mentioned Ryan and Riss’ wedding details.

Emily’s throat was dry and she picked up her glass of water. As she lifted, her hand was trembling. Taking a sip of water, she tried to replace the glass without spilling it everywhere.

“Em, are you ok?” Kim asked. “You’re shaking like a leaf.”

  “I’m ok, Mum.”

Emily felt Nick’s leg lift and lower as if to stroke hers. He hooked his right food around the front of her left and pulled her leg slightly towards him, locking them together.

  She felt instantly calmer.

  “Are you sure?” Oli asked.

  “Yes. I’m fine Dad.”

  I am now.

They managed to get through the rest of the meal when David suggested going out onto the garden deck for drinks.

“That was torture.” Nick whispered when they got outside.

The decking are was large and fenced with the same coloured wood as the floor. The spindles and tops plain, but modern.

“I know. I could barely pick up my glass.” She said. Crossing her arms so she wouldn’t touch him.

“Emmy, I don’t want to hide but I understand your reasons. I just wanted to touch you, hold your hand, kiss you… It was agony not being able to.”

Hearing the words coming out of Nick’s mouth, Emily’s breath caught. He’d always looked so calm, controlled and non-affected that she wondered how he was feeling that way about her.

“How can you look so calm?” She asked.

  “Practice, Emmy.”

She knew what that meant. After his attack, he’d put on an act so people would think he was ok.

  *****

“What are you two talking about?” Kyle asked as he walked over with Kayla.

  “Just business.” Nick replied, casually.

It wasn’t just business though. Nick was going to get away and have some time with his gorgeous girlfriend without hiding away from everyone. Also it was to see his therapist and to discuss something with Joel.

“Em, Are you looking forward to Holly and Alex coming back tomorrow?” Kayla asked.

  “I am. I’ve missed her.”

“Us too. I can’t wait to see the photos.”

Nick couldn’t wait any longer. He wanted to tell Kyle and Kayla to go away in the nicest way possible, of course.

“Emmy, I need to go over some business details with you.” He said, gesturing her away from the others.

“I want you so bad.” He whispered when they’d walked about ten feet away from the others.

“I want you too. My nerves are gone.”

“Your nerves were like that a lot. Was that because of this?”

Nick made the gesture, discreetly, between them.

  Emily nodded.

He was relieved. He thought it was to do with her wanting to kill him, not kiss him!

“Do you think they’ll notice if we disappear for a few minutes?” She asked, hopeful.

They were being watched with eyes like hawks so everybody would definitely notice them going off somewhere. It was like they were all keeping watch for when either of them would say or do something, to piss off the other.

“They’d definitely notice and then make a scene about it.” He assured her.

“Nick. Can I talk to you for a sec?” Ryan asked and Emily quickly walked to her parents and the others.

“What’s up?” He asked, irritated for his brother butting in… again.

“Why are you taking Emily with you?” He asked.

  “What?”

“Look, bro, I don’t mean anything by it but I was just asking why you’re taking Emily to LA when she’s with someone?”

“I have my reasons, Ry. One of them being that she’s my assistant and she has to if I need her to.”

  Go away!

“I think you’re setting yourself up for heartbreak, dude. She’s with someone and taking her with you isn’t going to change that.”

  I hope not!

“Stay out of it Ryan. I know what I’m doing.”

Nick turned away and began walking when he took his phone out of his pocket.

N: I can’t hold on much longer. We should go.

Nick watched as Emily excused herself in to the house and he received a reply instantly.

  E: I agree. Should I go first?

N: Yes. We’ll make the excuse about having to leave early. I’ll leave a few minutes after you.

Emily walked out and told her parents that she needed to leave because of the trip.

She said her goodbyes to everyone, giving Cora a huge hug for her sneakers, and then turned to him. He could see the look in her eyes and if the others were watching her, they would’ve noticed it too. She wasn’t looking at him like her boss, at all.

“See you soon, Emmy.” He said, walking her out to her car with her their Moms

“See you soon, Nick.” She replied.

He watched her drive away and then went to turn in the house, stopping when he noticed the two women staring at them.

  “What?”

“Nothing.” They said in unison before walking away whispering to each other.

“I gotta head out too. It’s gonna take me a while getting home and I still need to pack some stuff.” He said as nonchalantly as he could.

“Ok, son. It was lovely to see you. I hope you come over again when you get back.” Mia said, hugging him tight.

“I will if it’s early enough.”

“Nick!” Cora said, jumping up and wrapping her arms around him. He swung her around before putting her down. Cora held on and put her mouth next to his ear.

“I saw it Nick.” She pulled back and grinned, before skipping away.

Saying his final goodbye’s, he got into his car and made his way to the home of the love of his life.

Getting to her apartment, he parked his car out of sight from where Ryan would see it, grabbed his bag and took the lift to Emily’s floor. Excitement burning through his stomach at seeing her again and being able to hold her.

  *****

Emily paced in her living room. She’d left Nick’s parents house, and he texted her five minutes later saying that he’d left too.

He would be close, or even already downstairs.

The knock at the door brought her out of her thoughts and her heart pounded.

Rushing to the door, she opened it with a little too much force and before she could say anything, Nick was on her.

Pulling her to him, his lips crashed with hers, licking into her mouth with his tongue.

Emily moaned and gripped his hair with her fingers, holding him tight. She’d wanted to kiss him so much and now that they were back
, she didn’t want to let him go.

He kicked the door closed behind him, dropped his bag and walked Emily backwards into her dark bedroom.

His hand was running up and down her back, whilst the other found its way to the front, cupping her breast.

Wasting no time, Nick pulled up her top and threw it on the floor, before removing his. Opening her jeans, he slipped his hand inside her underwear and stroked over her damp centre.

“Ah!” She squeaked. Her hips bucking towards him. His fingers felt good on her and she wanted him inside her as soon as possible.

“You’re already wet for me.” He whispered into her ear.

“Since the day I stepped out of Riss’ house and met you.” She whispered back.

“Fuck!” He growled and yanked down her jeans, taking her underwear with them.

She stepped out and he turned her around, leaning her against the tall dresser, kicking her feet apart.

Opening his pants and dropping them down, he lined up to her, pushing in from behind.

“I’ve made love to you, Emmy. Now, I’m going to fuck you.”

“Yes!” She nodded frantically and felt Nick push into her tight entrance. “Nick, I want you so bad. You don’t have to be gentle.”

  “I won’t.” He growled.

He thrust up and almost took her feet off the floor. Emily screamed, but not from pain. He felt so good inside her she wanted to cry with joy.

“Baby, I’m going to make you cum like this and then again on the bed.”

Nick pulled back and rammed into her, over and over. His hard chest pressed into her back, the ripples of his abs massaging her skin.

Emily’s breath caught as he hit the end of her, inside, every time and the familiar buzz was felt deep down. Spreading through her veins and over every inch of her skin.

Nick swept his hand around and found her nub, stroking over it with two fingers. His lips found the curve where her neck met her shoulder and he sucked her skin, gently nipping with his teeth.

Emily almost collapsed with the delicious torture he was wreaking on her body and screamed out again when his other hand gripped her breast.

“Emmy. You feel so good.” He growled, pumping his hips into her.

“Oh, God, Nick!” She moaned and his dick swelled. His thrusts quickened, and his fingers were frantic.

“Oh fuck!” she cried as she came apart. Shuddering, her legs trembling, her core clamping around him. Her whole body tensed up as the orgasm rocked her; making her shiver all over and the tiny hairs stand on end.

  But… Nick wasn’t done.

He pulled out of her and turned her to the bed, onto her stomach. Pulling at her hips, he got her on all fours, pushing into her again. Removing her bra, her leant over her and cupped her mounds, caressing her nipples.

“Again, baby.” He said, as he shoved deep inside her and continued to rock. His hips hitting her behind every time. Picking up speed, she felt him expand, stretching her, and heard his breathing grow heavier.

“Emmy, you’re going to cum for me again.” He said. His voice demanding.

Just his tone had her on the edge.

Leaning over her, his hands gripping her hips like a vice, Nick took his mouth to her ear.

  “Emmy….”

Emily’s breath caught when her climax hit, Nick pounding into her and hitting the spot inside her that made her crazy, before crying out his name.

“Fuck baby!” Nick spat out and then she felt him cum, his hot liquid pumping into her.

Collapsing onto the bed, they both took a moment to catch their breaths.

“Wow.” Emily finally said. She couldn’t believe that being taken like that, and hard, could be so pleasurable.

“Double wow.” Nick replied. “I’m sorry. I couldn’t wait to get to you. I wanted to take my time, but feeling you so wet made that go right out the window.”

“I’m not complaining.” No way was she complaining for the two mind blowing orgasms he gave her. “I wanted you to and I loved it.”

  And I love you.

“That’s good then, so did I.” He chuckled.

After showering, Emily cuddled into Nick; face to face. If he said anything in his sleep, she wanted to see his mouth moving.

Watching his face, as his eyes were closed was bewitching. She could just stare at him for hours. Listening to his deep breaths even out, she knew he was asleep.

He didn’t show any signs of saying anything and Emily closed her eyes, breathing him in, and started to drift off.

  “Emmy.” He whispered.

  Her eyes flew open.

His lips were curved into a hint of a smile before relaxing again. He didn’t say anything else and Emily couldn’t hold her eyes open any longer.

Emily’s alarm woke her up and she couldn’t move. A heavy log was pressing across her.

  Nick’s arm.

She reached over to silence it, and Nick’s hand suddenly moved to her breast.

She turned to look and he was smiling with his eyes closed. His hair wild behind him.

“We have a plane to catch, Nick. If you start that, we won’t be going anywhere.”

“I’ve changed my mind. We can pretend we went and just stay here in your bed. Nobody would know.”

“As fantastic as that sounds, we need to get up.” She said, leaning over and smacking his perfectly naked butt.

“Hey! Keep your fetish to yourself.” He complained, grinning into the pillow.

“Don’t start that again!” Emily shook her head.

He’d be getting more than a smacked bum if he continued that. Even though she did see the funny side now.

“But Emmy… you’re supposed to convince me, remember? Maybe you should let me spank you and see how I like it?”

“You’re not spanking my arse, you dirty get!”

“I’m kidding, baby. God, I love it when your cheeks flush. It’s so cute.” He said, pulling her down to him.

  “Hmmm.” She grumbled.

Emily’s shower wasn’t big enough for them to share so when Nick was in there, she packed her overnight bag for the trip to LA and a case to take to his apartment.

Their relationship was progressing and she wasn’t even worried that it was happening quickly. After only a couple of weeks, she felt like she’d known Nick forever and to be taking some things to his place felt normal.

She completely understood what Holly had told her about knowing Alex. It made perfect sense.

“Ready babe?” He asked, snaking his arms around her waist from behind her and kissing the back of her neck.

“Yes. I am.” She replied, and she didn’t just mean the trip.

Leaving the apartment, Emily turned to lock the door and Nick picked up her case.

“Hey there.” Said Ryan as he peaked though the opening of his front door. “What are you doing here?” he asked Nick with a smirk.

Nick held up the case in his hand.

“Going to LA. I’m driving to the airport.” He replied, not giving anything away about him staying over at Emily’s.

“Ok, sure.” Ryan said, narrowing his eyes. “Well, remember what I said, dude, and have a safe trip. Bye Em.”

He closed the door and Nick released his breath.

“What did he say to you?” Emily asked. She’d seen the exchange between them, at their parents’ house, but hadn’t asked about it.

“I’ll tell you on the way down.” He whispered.

In the lift, Nick told her all about what Ryan had said to him in the garden. She knew Ryan was only looking out for his brother, but something wasn’t sitting right with her. The smirk on his face showed that he found something amusing. She had no idea what, because with Ryan it could have been anything.

  Chapter 20

Nick was happy. Since arriving at the airport, Emily had put her hand in his and hadn’t let go. It felt good not to be hiding their feelings and their relationship.

Making the most of it, he stood in the middle
of the VIP lounge, cupped her face and softly kissed her lips. He didn’t know how much longer he’d be able to do that for; whether she was going to hide from Edna and Joel too.

“What was that for?” She asked in a breath, her eyes dreamy.

“Because I want to and because I can.” He said, gazing at her.

Taking their seats, Emily leant in close to him and he put his arm around her, his hand on her waist.

  So happy.

The plane ride was even better. He’d held her right hand with his right as her left hand reached up, stroking and playing with the back of his hair. At one point, she’d grabbed a hand full, like she did when they were in bed, and he smiled, knowing what she wanted.

  Him.

  Naked.

He would have been more than happy to oblige, it was evident from the front of his pants, but the cabin crew might not have liked them getting it on in the bathroom.

The same stewardess was there, from their previous trip, and she smiled when she saw their fingers intertwined and softly kissing each other. The kissing had to stop because it just led to pains in areas that needed to be taken care of very soon.

  *****

“Wow, this room is nice!” Emily said, wide eyed as she took in the huge room he’d booked for them.

The massive king sized, white four poster bed was straight ahead, with a black chaise lounge at the end. A grey sofa and two chairs sat at the other end of the room, in front of a glass coffee table.

Even with the sleek, minimal tones, there was a huge fire in the centre back wall, giving a warmer feel to the otherwise cool look to the room.
