Second Chance (A Secret Baby Romance Novel) Page 13

by Carter, Charity

The anticipation within me grew as he tossed his jeans and boxers on top of his t-shirt and stood in front of me in all of his naked glory.

I could smell the arousal in the air. I noticed he had a condom in his hand, which told me that this wasn’t a spur of the moment thing. This was something he was planning down to the last detail.

I licked my lips as he opened the wrapper and slid the lubricated disk of latex over his engorged dick. Somehow, it looked even bigger than I remembered it. Once he had it secured, he looked up at me.

“We don’t have to do this if you don’t want to,” he told me. “All you have to do is say the word, and I’ll put my clothes on and go back home.”

That was one thing I always loved about that man. I knew I could trust him. I knew that no matter how he was feeling or how badly he wanted to be with me, he would never go so far as to force himself on me or do something that he wasn’t absolutely sure I wanted as well.

He looked worried that I might take him up on that and turn down his advances, but he didn’t have a thing to worry about. My body felt like it was on fire and my entire lower region throbbed.

He had given me pleasure a few minutes earlier, but that wasn’t even close to being enough. I wanted him inside of me, and I know he wanted to be there as well.

Even though he had been the first and only person I’d ever been with, the two of us realized a long time ago that we were both very sexual.

Back in the day, he knew damn good and well that all he had to do was touch me, and I’d be putty in his hands. Apparently, not much had changed.

It had been only seconds since he broke off from our kiss, but it felt like it had been hours by the time he finally rejoined me on the blanket.

I wrapped my arms around his muscular back as he positioned himself between my legs while bending down to kiss me once again.

Before I knew it, I could feel his swollen head pushing against my entrance. It was swollen, pulsating, and giving off its own heat. I let out a groan as he used his knees to spread my legs apart.

Chance mumbled something about ten years being way too long as he pushed himself completely inside of me. He moved slowly, realizing that I wasn’t going to be able to take all of him. Inch by amazing inch, he entered me, making me feel full.

Once I was able to get used to him, I wanted more. I lifted my hips up off the ground and pulled him further into me, encouraging him to make love to me like he used to.

In barely any time at all, he managed to stuff himself completely into my tight hole. He moaned loudly as the walls of my vagina grabbed hold of him and wrapped around his cock like a glove. He felt amazing.

It felt as though he was reclaiming me as his.

Completely inside of me, he started pumping in and out of me. He moved slowly at first and gradually got faster. Each time he thrust himself into me, more and more memories flooded my head.

I remembered how things were between us and how much things hadn’t really changed. I was still hungry for the intensity that he had to offer.

Moving deeper within me, my body felt as though it could dissolve below his. With each movement of his hips, I could feel the muscles in his back contracting.

He was moaning louder and louder. I could tell he was trying to prevent the inevitable. I began to moan as well, knowing that it would take him past the point of no return.

Some things never change. He wanted to get off so badly, but he wouldn’t allow himself the satisfaction until I got mine first. He had always been like that, and it was always appreciated.

This time, I was determined to make him go first. I knew he wasn’t going to be able to hold back any longer. I wrapped my legs around his waist and pulled him into me as far as I could take him. His body began shaking as he began to cum.

Almost as if it were on demand, his orgasm was a trigger for my body to have one as well. Involuntarily, I started to scream. It was an orgasm unlike any I’d ever had before. As the sound began to leave my mouth, he pressed his lips against mine, preventing me from waking all of the neighbors.

Our orgasms seemed to continue on for ages, and when they finally subsided, Chance dropped down and placed his head on my chest. I wrapped my arms around him and closed my eyes, reflecting on the magic that had just taken place.

“Mom? Wake up. What’s with all this sleeping in stuff?”

I rubbed my eyes and looked at my watch, squinting as I tried to make out the numbers. It was 7:00 in the morning. Was this kid out of his mind?

“Boy, don’t you know it’s a Saturday. You can sleep in all you want. Why aren’t you doing that?”

“I already told you, mom,” CJ told me, sounding very annoyed. “I’m going to the station with the guys so Officer Sparks can teach us some of the martial arts moves he knows.”

I remembered him telling me about in great detail, but with everything that had happened the night before, it had completely slipped my mind.

I was still sore from our lovemaking session, and I wondered if Chance was going to be in any condition to give the boys the lesson they’d been looking forward to. Of course, I was positive that he hadn’t gone ten months, let alone ten years without intimacy.

He wasn’t nearly as out of practice as I had been. With that thought in my head, I felt a tinge of jealousy building within me. I didn’t even want to think about the possibility of Chance being with another woman since me.

“You’re really excited about today, huh?” I asked CJ, eager to get my mind on other things.

“Well yeah. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, but you would never sign me up for lessons. At least Officer Sparks will show me some stuff.”

I found it odd that CJ was still referring to his father as Officer Sparks, especially since he had called him his dad a few short days prior.

“Well, we can’t have you going to do all this training on an empty something. You want some breakfast?”

“Yes! Could you make some French toast?”

“Sure. You want it the usual way?”

  “Yes, powdered sugar on top.”

  “You got it.”

I winced as I got out of my bed. My body was sore, and my muscles felt like I’d been working out. It was a nice reminder of the fun I had the night before.

It came as no surprise that Chance was the first person we saw when I pulled the car into the juvenile station. He wasn’t even inside. He was waiting for us in the parking lot and smiled as he made his way over to meet us.

“I ate as fast as I could,” CJ announce. “I’m not late am I?”

“No, you’re fine,” Chance replied. “We’re still waiting on Dakota to get here. Spencer’s already inside if you want to go hang out with him while we wait.”

  “Okay. See you later mom.”

  “Be good,” I told him.

“And how are you this morning?” Chance asked, turning his attention to me, his smile bigger than before.

“I’m well. How are you?” I said, returning his smile while I thought about what we did behind the house.

“I’m amazing. I slept better than I’ve slept in ages. I probably feel better than I’ve felt in the last ten years or so.”

I looked down at my watch, unsure of where I was supposed to take the conversation. “How long do you think you’ll be with the boys today?”

“I’m not sure. I was going to kind of leave it up to them. It’ll be at least an hour, but it will probably be even longer. Is there a certain time you need CJ back?”

“Not really. I just had some errands to run and was wondering if I had enough time to do them.”

“You go ahead and do whatever it is you need to do. If we get done before you get here, I’ll just keep working with CJ and letting him practice what I teach him today.”

“Are you sure? It’s not any trouble is it?”

“No way. As a matter of fact, I’d like CJ’s company.”

  “
You would?” CJ asked as he’d overheard us talking before he walked into the building. His eyes were wide with surprise.

“I would like that very much,” Chance said, grinning at the sudden interest from CJ. “I know you weren’t here all week by choice, but you really did a great job with the tasks I assigned you. You’re not going to be skipping school or getting into trouble anytime soon, are you?”

  “No sir.”

“I’m proud of that. I’ve seen you come a long way in the past week. I’d hang out with you anytime.”

CJ smiled and walked into the station. “Well, I guess that’s my answer,” I told him, “I’ll go ahead and run my errands. I won’t even rush so you guys can spend some quality time together. I may even go get my nails done.”

Somehow, I completed my running around in record time, so I decided to go home and rest for a while. I grabbed my book and laid down on the couch to read it, but ended up falling asleep instead.

I hadn’t slept for very long the night before, and I was exhausted. A couple of hours later, I was startled away by the sound of knocking at my door. I jumped up and looked out the window and saw that it was Chance and CJ.

I need to get that boy a key to the door.

“Oh my gosh,” I said as I opened the door. “I’m so sorry, Chance. I must have fallen asleep. If you would have called me, I could have come and gotten him.”

“Don’t be ridiculous. We were having a good time. He’s a natural when it comes to martial arts. I’m gonna have to give him some more lessons, but I suggest letting him join an martial arts group so he can learn about all the different techniques.”

“I’ll look into that. Are you guys hungry?”

  “Starving,” CJ exclaimed.

“I’ll make something. Do you wanna stay for a bite, Chance, or do you have somewhere you have to be?”

“No, I can stay, but I think you should let me do the cooking. Remember how you used to love the burgers I would grill?”

“Yes! Those were the best burgers.”

“How about you let me grill the burgers, and you can get the sides or whatever ready in here.”

“Okay, I’ll make some fries and baked beans to go with it.”

“Do you think I could help cook the burgers?” CJ asked.

“I think you should definitely help me cook these burgers,” Chance replied. “One thing a man should know how to do is make a proper burger.”

CJ was excited, and he stayed right with Chance the entire time he was cooking.

Chance showed him how to start the grill with charcoal and lighter fluid, how to know when the grill was ready for the meat, how to know when to turn them, and how to know when they were done.

In the end, CJ was proud of himself and Chance was beaming over the fact that his son just helped him with a cookout.

Dinner was fun and light, with a lot of good conversation and laughs. When we were done, we sat around and talked for a while before CJ fell asleep on the couch.

He hadn’t wanted to go to bed in fear of missing something. I couldn’t blame him. It was a great time. Chance helped me carry CJ to bed before allowing me to walk him to the door.

“You know, if you keep coming around and leaving at all these late hours, the neighbors are going to catch on to the fact that something is going on.”

“I’m pretty sure they already think something is up. McKade reminds me daily that people around town think I’m the biggest idiot in Kansas City. As far as they’re concerned, they all know that CJ is my son, and I’m the only one without a clue.”

“I hear a lot of the same things. Hard to argue,” I laughed.

“Has anyone mentioned any of this to CJ?”

“Not directly. I’ve heard from a couple of people that some people up at the diner have asked him some questions without coming right out and saying anything.”

“Whatever happened to people minding their own business? When did this happen?”

“In the last couple of days. He meets those boys that he’s been hanging out with there every morning so they can ride their bikes to school together.”

“This is getting ridiculous,” Chance told me. “I’m sick of all this tiptoeing around the fact. Everyone else already knows. Why don’t we just cut to the chase? I’m ready for everyone to know for sure that CJ is my son.”

“I know how you feel. I’m ready to end the charade as well, but you need to remember what I told CJ. I told him that I’d let him make the decision on whether or not to tell you.”

“Yeah? I’m starting to think that it’s never going to happen.”

“And I think you’re going to be very surprised. He’s coming along a lot quicker than you realize.”

  “Really?”

“Yes, really. Can you not see it with your own eyes? Look at the way the two of you are interacting with each other. Look at the way he jumped at the chance to help you grill. I think it’s obvious.”

“I’ve noticed those things, but I still feel like he’s holding back like he’s scared of something bad happening. It’s frustrating. I don’t know why he’s doing it. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.”

“You’re not doing anything wrong. I just think CJ is questioning some things.”

  “Like what?”

“Well, he’s been able to see you in a different light recently. Now that he’s gotten to know you, he’s proud of who you are. To him, he’s not sure if he’s good enough to have a father like you.”

Chance looked at me with a saddened look in his eyes. “Why would he not be sure? He’s a great kid.”

“It’s because of how the two of you met. The first time you saw him was when he was in trouble. He thinks that, because of what you do for a living, you’ll always seem him that way.”

“I wish I could tell him that he’s wrong. There isn’t anything he could ever do to make me not want him.”

Hearing the words come out of his mouth made my heart skip a beat. I knew he felt that way, but there was something amazing about hearing him say it. I walked up to him and put my arms around his waist.

“I know that you don’t look at him in that way, but he has to see that for himself. I think you’ve done a great job breaking down some of those walls that he’s built up. He’s gotten to know you a lot faster than I thought he would. Just keep doing what you’re doing and he’ll come around before you know it.”

“Remember when I said I’d be able to win him over with no problem? I think I made a small lapse in judgment,” he laughed.

“I think you’ve done an amazing job,” I smiled. “I didn’t know if he was going to be open to this at all, let alone come so far in just a week. You have to remember, he’s a lot like you.”

“What is that supposed to mean?”

“I mean he’s stubborn, Chance. He’s stubborn just like you. He’s hard headed. You’ve gotten through to him. It’s a great start.”

He leaned down and gave me a soft kiss on my forehead. Even though it was against my plan, having Chance around was beginning to feel more and more right. I felt safe in his presence, just like I always had.

Things were progressing whether I wanted them to or not. The only difference was that I was starting to lean towards wanting it to happen.

  Chapter Eleven

  Latrice

It had been a couple of weeks since Chance showed up and reminded me what it felt like to be a woman. Since then, the two of us had spent nearly every evening together in the exact same spot.

He had also become a normal visitor to our house. He would stop in to have dinner with us pretty regularly, and he’d take CJ to play miniature golf or see a movie.

I was happy to see the way CJ was acting around Chance. He had definitely lowered his defenses and was allowing Chance to get close to him. Unfortunately, he still wasn’t at the point where he was ready to tell Chance and give him the opportunity to be a father to him.

I felt bad for Chance. I knew that all he wanted to do was be CJ
’s dad. I also knew that his patience had to be running out. I wanted the same things Chance wanted, but it was all up to our son. In my opinion, it wasn’t going to be long before CJ decided to take the next step.

It wasn’t long before my thought process shifted and I was thinking about the feelings that I had for Chance. I had an internal conflict with myself.

I knew I had to prevent myself from falling in love with that man all over again, but I was having trouble doing so. I kept telling myself that our little charade was only for the sake of our son. To any observer, it appeared that I was being courted. If nothing else, it gave everyone around town something to talk about. Some of those people were genuinely worried about me.

On more than one occasion, I had someone approach me and warn me that if I got involved with Chance, I’d only get my heart broken again. On the other hand, there were some supporters of our second shot at love.

What was I supposed to say to these people? I knew that Chance was a bachelor, and I didn’t have a real interest in changing that.

It was obvious that he was a different person than I left long ago, but it’s hard to get over the fact that he continuously picked his group of troublemakers over me. He didn’t want to include me in his life back then, and the last thing I needed was to set myself up to be hurt like that again.

Our meetings behind my house were not made out of the need for emotional contact. I had enough common sense in my brain to know that. Our meetings were purely for physical pleasure and nothing more.

That’s what I was trying to convince myself of, at least. I just needed to make sure my heart understood the difference between the two. As long as I could block out the love while experiencing the lust, I was going to be just fine.

I was surprised to hear a faint knock on my bedroom door. It was very early in the morning. The sun hadn’t even risen in the sky. I knew it was CJ. Chance was taking him to hang out with some of his family members.

  “Come on in.”

He opened the door slowly, almost as if he was frightened of something. I’ve seen that look many times before. It was usually plastered on his face any time he had a bad dream and was creeping into my room to get into bed with me.
