– Mrs. Ringer
Warner pulls up to an old-style diner that sits just inside the small town. It has pink and green lights around the lip of the roof, and a lit up shake sign in the window. It’s as if the 80s threw it up and nobody has updated it since.
Pop’s Dime-In reads on the sign on the front.
“What’s with the name?” I lift my chin at the diner.
Warner turns off the truck, and we both get out. The air is warm as a breeze whispers summer’s arrival around my ankles.
“The old man that owns this place had his foot blown off in the military, he came back here and started running this place because it reminded him of when he was a kid. He said when he was a child he could get a Coke for ten cents, so now he serves up Coke-floats for only ten cents.”
I smile, that’s the kind of story that is a tragedy but heartfelt. I like it.
“Ten cent floats, that’s awesome.” I silently laugh. They don’t have anything like this in New York, just people throwing stores together hoping to get lucky.
“Yeah, this is where everyone comes after games, school, parties,” Warner tells me. “They have awesome food, but everyone comes here for ten cent Coke-floats.”
I cross my arms and look at the small building again. You can’t beat floats and burgers, but I’m not hungry. Besides, dairy makes me gassy, the last thing I want is that to happen around Warner.
“Huh.” Is all I can muster in response to the story Warner tells me. Warner stops at the front of his truck, his blue eyes drawing to mine.
“Huh?” he implores. “Is this not what you had in mind?” He cocks his head to the side.
Looking down, I kick at some random rocks and laugh. “No, burgers and shakes sound great.”
Rounding the truck, he fists my hips and my head snaps up from the contact. Our eyes meet, and my body comes alive recognizing the familiar touch from Warner Nine. The only guy I’ve ever let touch me like this. Having him this close, I notice he’s at least a foot taller than me.
“You’re a fucking liar.” My mouth parts at his harsh tone. “Burgers too cheap for the spoiled rich hippie?” He tilts his head to the side and pushes me up against his truck leaning into me. The sexual aggression palpable at this point.
“I’m not spoiled, I’m just not one to follow the town’s golden boy to someplace he takes every girl to and smile like a lovestruck bimbo!” I cross my arms, suddenly feeling distant. When I was with Warner that night, he made me feel special, taking me to a place he takes all girls… I don’t feel anything but disappointment. I bet money he took Kellie here.
“Oh I see, this is a jealousy thing.” He chuckles and I suddenly see red.
“No!” I lie, and he presses his head against mine, staring at me as if he’s waiting for me to admit I’m a liar. I roll my eyes, and try and look elsewhere.
“I just, I want to do something different than go to a place you always go to. I want… different. I’m different.” I shrug, not really able to explain myself to him. It’s difficult. I’m just not the type to wine and dine, I want something more… adventurous.
He smirks. “And that’s why I like you.” The angry rush racing through me floods into something like a river of passion. The butterflies that make me feel fuzzy and like I wanna puke at the same time returning. It’s crazy how hot and cold I am with him. His hand grips my chin, his fingers caressing the skin.
“You’re dangerous,” he whispers. Glancing at baby blue eyes that dances with mine, teasing and flirting with my emotions.
“How’s that?” I challenge, buying into his flattery.
“Because you make me want to do very bad things.” His voice takes a dip, and I swear I lose my breath. The thought that I could make the town’s golden boy throw his morals to the side is exciting.
“Are they fun things?” I counter, my hand suddenly having a mind of its own and sliding down his hard torso. Fuck, I think his pecs have gotten harder since we’ve been apart. His shirt is damp from the Georgia sun causing sweat to build on his abs and soak his shirt. It’s unfair how good of shape he’s in. Worst part is he knows just how good looking he is. Makes me want to smack that sexy tilted grin right off his face.
“Fun?” he questions. Oh yeah, we were talking, weren’t we?
“Yeah, the dangerous things you want to do, are they fun?” I ask, looking up at him, our faces are suddenly so close our lips brush amongst one another. His hot breath breathing into my mouth and filling me with a minty taste. Kiss me.
“Oh, I’d say they’re very fun, promiscuous even.” His gravelly tone causes my knees to wobble with desire. His chest flush with mine, the smell of him and body heat causes my senses to dance in a lust filled daze. My body wants him in an animalistic way I cannot control. Kiss me!
“We should do it,” I tempt. “We should do all the bad things I make you want to do.”
“We?” He tilts his head to the side, our mouths lining up perfectly for a deep kiss.
“Well, you’ll need a tough girl by your side, won’t you?”
“Most definitely.” He breathes heavily, the slight hesitation at the implication of me being his disappears almost as fast as it appears. Then he’s smashing his lips to mine, my fingers dig into the muscles of his biceps, pulling him closer. I inhale a breath so deep it’s like I’ve been held underwater against my will for months without knowing it until now.
We are bad for one another. The whole town knows it. We know it. But that’s what pulls us closer together. That intense feeling of doing something bad feels so fucking good.
Closing my eyes, I breathe him in, his mouth pressing into mine, claiming my senses. Uncrossing my arms, I wrap an arm around his neck and open my mouth to taste him.
Someone fakes a cough, and I tense. Turning my head to see who it is, there’s a middle age couple walking up to the diner, staring at us like we disgust them.
“Good evening Mrs. Ringer,” Warner says in a friendly smile. The old lady pulls from her husband, and charges over to us. I stand up straight as her dull blue eyes pin me.
“Thought I would let you know Warner, your friend here… her father bought the clinic in town and raised our office visits. Charlie couldn’t get his foot looked at cause I couldn’t afford it!” She inhales, her head lifting as she awaits for our reply.
I open my mouth to defend myself, but I have nothing. I didn’t even know my parents had bought anything yet.
“I’m sure there’s an explanation,” Warner laughs it off.
“Yeah, hussy needs to go back where she came from before she plays you like a fool, just like her father is doing this town!” My mouth drops, and Warner’s face turns red.
“Hey!” He barks, standing in front of me.
“Dear, that will be enough.” Her husband tries to wrangle in his feisty wife, but I can’t for the life of me bring myself to understand why she associates me with my parents. I didn’t even know!
“Warner.” The man tilts his trucker hat, his eyes conveying he doesn’t approve. I try and pull away from Warner, but he resists, jerking me closer until my lips are on his again. I close my eyes, ignoring the glances we’re getting, saying ‘fuck you’ to the faces pressed to the glass ogling us with cold eyes.
The passenger door behind me clicks and I open my eyes.
“Get in,” he mumbles against my lips.
“Where are we going?”
“A place that will become ours.” He winks, and I’m a goner. It’s as if he knows exactly what to say to me, and how to say it. He’s good. So fucking good.
Getting in the truck, he grabs my hand and jerks me next to him.
“I had no ideas my parents bought—” the words get stuck in my throat and I choke. My parents are going to ruin this place, just like they ruin everything.
“No more sitting on the opposite side of the truck,” he rasps, ignoring my explanation. I bite my bottom lip, a wiggle closer to him. Our sweaty bodies this close feels right, like old-time frien
ds hanging out. No, it’s more than that.
He drives across the road to the gas station and squeezes my hand.
Pulling into the gas station, he throws the truck in park, his gaze popping to the store and then at me.
“Go inside and buy something, anything, just distract the attendant working,” he instructs. I smile like the Devil, my heart pounding with excitement.
“Okay.” I don’t even question his plan, this is epic.
Giving me a chaste kiss, we get out. The sky is pink as the sun sets, and the gravel crunches beneath my sandals as we head inside. The door dings as we enter and the young man behind the counter with a long blond ponytail gives us a quick glance before his eyes fall to the clipboard in his hands. He seems focused on checking things off and not on me and Warner.
Heading toward the candy aisle, I peek above the shelves to see Warner over near the whiskey. I bite my lip to keep from smiling, is he going to steal some? Looking at the various candy the smell of hot dogs and floor cleaner fill the air. The Slushee machine behind me humming, and the fluorescent light above me flickers. I fist a package of Twizzlers, the original kind, not the stupid peel kind and head to the register.
“Hi!” My cheeky tone grabs the cashier’s attention, and he smiles in my direction. Setting the clipboard down, he stares at me. His eyes falling to my chest making me uncomfortable.
“This all?” He rings up the candy, his eyes slowly dragging to mine.
“Yeah, it’s the best snack.” I shrug, hoping to stall him. I thought maybe I should pull my shirt down a little, but the way he keeps staring at my tits, I’m kind of glad I didn’t.
“Some would disagree, and say the pull and peel are the best.” He winks, trying to flirt, and a cold wash runs over my skin. I find it unattractive and don’t like it at all. He’s not as smooth as Warner, not even close.
“They’re dumb,” I inform boldly. I pull a five dollar bill from my shirt and hand it to him. I risk a glance where Warner last was only to find him gone. I look to the truck in the window behind the cashier and see him already in the driver seat.
“Keep the change, thanks!” I grab the Twizzlers and hurry outside to the truck. Climbing in, I toss the candy at him, and he wiggles a big bottle of Jack Daniels below the dashboard.
“You ready for a night out, River?”
“Oh my God!” I squeal impressed, my brows raised to my hairline and mouth gaped wide. I’ve never seen anyone steal before, that was… that was sexy! We could have been caught, got arrested and he did it so effortlessly. My heart pounds at the thought of him being bad, my palms sweat as he rips out of the parking lot and heads to the opposite side of town.
“Open it.” He juts his chin at me. Grabbing the heavy bottle, I twist the top off and the hard alcohol smell causes me to jerk my head away. I haven’t drunk this stuff since the night I met Warner.
But what is the worst that could happen? I sleep with Warner? I could use the stress relief with the move, new school. A little fun is just what I need.
Pressing my lips to the bottle, I take a large swig. “Ugh, it still tastes like shit,” I cough, forcing the fire all the way down. Jesus! Clenching my eyes shut I try to breathe through it, but it’s so bad there is no help for this whiskey. It burns all the way down.
Warner laughs and swipes the bottle from me, taking a large sip himself. He does it with ease as if the pungent smell or strong taste does nothing to him. He’s clearly partied more than I have. Living in New York with protective parents, how could I act out?
As we head away from town, the only thing except fields to be seen is a large white water tower. WildeField.
Warner drives toward it, the truck rocking back and forth before parking right next to the ladder to climb up it. Arching my neck, I look out the window to the top of the tower.
“Let’s climb it,” I whisper. My eyes widen, surprised I just said that out loud. I do that a lot around Warner, surprising myself with what I say and do.
Turning to see if Warner thinks I’m crazy he’s in my face and kissing me. His lips pressed against mine, his chest pushing into me. My body presses against the passenger door.
Kissing him back I slouch under him, his body on top of mine. The taste of whiskey on his lips fuels my bad behavior for more. He thrusts his hips and I can feel his hardness rub against me just right. A supple moan ripples through my body, God this is all I have thought about for months. I got a taste of temptation and my body has ached for it since.
Soft full lips move from mine to my neck, a hand slipping up my shirt and cupping my swollen tit. My nipple pebbles from his touch, and I want to moan into his mouth.
“You want me to touch you?” He breathes heavily against my neck, his fingers trailing down my pelvis and toward my wetness.
I nod, wanting him to touch me any way he’ll give me. Yes, please touch me!
Pushing my dress up, he dives two fingers into my pussy and my back arches into him. God yes!
“Fuck, River you’re something else,” he groans, his dexterous thumb swirling my clit. His face rests against mine, his breathing harsh and labored.
“Tell me nobody else has had this pussy,” he whispers.
“No one,” I moan, the feel of his thick fingers doing me in. His teeth nip at my collarbone, his fingers working my clit and wetness fast.
My mouth parts, my breathing fogging the windows.
Using his free hand, Warner takes another sip of the whiskey, and kisses me hard, his tongue slipping some into my mouth. Fire from his tongue dances around my mouth. I drink him in, feel him between my legs and in my soul before combusting onto his hand.
One hand slaps at the dashboard, the other wrapping around his neck as I kiss him harder riding out my orgasm. Jack spills onto the dash, and Warner’s eyes light up as he really pumps his fingers as I come on his fingers. It’s nothing like the night in the tent, but it’s nothing short of amazing either.
Our eyes lock on each other as we both breathe harshly.
Sitting up, he thrusts his sticky fingers inside his mouth, his eyes never leaving mine while he sucks them clean. Holy shit that is the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen. Winking with a wicked smile, he takes another gulp of the whiskey. Taking the bottle from him, I gulp a sip and straddle his lap. I kiss him, tasting the alcohol and myself on his lips.
Warner is a player who knows his way around a girl’s body very well. A guy who is all man and uses his charm on every female that walks in his path. One glance and you’re hooked, left on your knees with wet panties and tears from heartbreak. I just happen to be lucky because I’m not wearing any panties…
Wrapping his hands around my back, the bottle of Jack hitting the steering wheel while we make out. His cock presses into his jeans so hard I can see the outline perfectly. The smell of me, Jack, and Old Spice filling the truck.

River
“I saw two kids climbing the tower, but I didn’t pay them no mind. Kids are kids, right?”
- Blue Chevy passing by.
“You still wanna climb the tower?” He nips at my bottom lip.
My hands around his neck, I smile. “Unless you’re too chicken?” I taunt.
Reaching for my elbow, he pulls my arm free of his neck and presses it against his hard throbbing cock.
“There’s nothing chicken about me, River, wouldn’t you agree?”
Looking up through thick lashes I get lost in his blue eyes. He’s different when he’s with me. Gone the golden boy, hello Warner. He has so much potential, and I want to tear it from his chest so he can see it. To see what I see, what this town tries to bury.
Jerking the truck door open, he gets out, my legs still wrapped around him.
His sneakers stomp to the water tower, and he sets me down right in front of a ladder leading up.
“You go first.” He juts his chin upward.
Taking one more swig of the whiskey, I reach for the first step and he lifts my foot to excel myself up. I b
egin to climb, one bar at a time. The wind picks up, my dress pushing around my legs as I climb higher than I’m comfortable with. My hands begin to sweat, and my heart thumps against my chest as I go up and up. God I hope I don’t fall. Finally reaching the ledge at the top, I pull myself onto it and tangle my fingers into the metal lattice. I’m going to fall. I’m going to fall.
Warner right behind me with the bottle of Jack in his hand, climbs up on the ledge beside me.
“I’ve never done this before,” he admits, out of breath. He doesn’t seem bothered how high up we are though.
“It’s higher than it looks.” I nod, scared to move. Chuckling, he slides over to where I’m sitting, leaning back on the metal lattice.
“But we made it.” He looks behind him. “Wow, you can see the whole damn town.”
Risking a glance, I look over my shoulder and see the small town. Warner and I on top of the tower meaning something more than just a couple of kids looking for trouble.
We’re bigger than this town. This place will never understand us, because they won’t look past their old school ways. I wasn’t born here so I’m automatically considered an outsider.
Looking away, I grab the bottle and take a swig. My eyes looking over the water tower.
“I want to draw on it,” I whisper. The urge to tag it near unbearable. I’ve never done anything like that before, but then again, I’ve never stolen, or climbed a tower before either. Maybe it’s the whiskey talking.
“Sure, why not. Make it an outlawed date,” Warner teases, looking relaxed.
I look at him. “Is this a date?” I thought we were just hanging.
His face wrinkles, the word date almost cringe-worthy.
“Don’t answer that,” I add. If he says no, it will get weird. If he says yes… it will make us overthink everything tonight and I don’t want to do that. Everything is perfect.
“Why did you just leave me that night?” he asks in a soft voice. Licking my bottom lip, that night comes into play. God, I was a mess that night. I was so mad at my parents, pissed off at the world. When I saw Warner, he was my act of rebellion.
“Because, I was never supposed to see you again,” I tell the truth. “I was angry at the world and wanted to be the girl I’ve always wanted to be just for one night, with no judgment.”
