  “Ouch, Prada.” Nik rubbed his shoulder. “I wasn’t going to get a dog, I was just joking.” He hurriedly looked at me. “Don’t say it.”

  I grinned at him.

  “We’re not jinxed, we’re special,” he said.

  “Special?”

  “Yes, special,” he said, and with that he pulled me onto his lap and began to kiss me just to prove it.
