I stepped back, feeling a bit numb. “I… You… That’s great,” I mumbled, feeling anything but.
“We agreed under one condition,” Tor agreed, stepping into me. “That the woman we’re paired with is you.”
“What? But I’m not an Enforcer. I’m not cut out to be one,” I assured them, in case there was any doubt.
“You don’t need to be,” Webb said. “This place needs new leadership, and that leadership believes there’s a definite need for an intelligence office here.”
It clicked then. They hadn’t found me by sheer luck. “You’re the new commanders.”
Tor nodded. “We agreed as long as you agreed to stay.”
“With you?” I asked. “There’s nothing I want more.”
“I told Webb you’d say that,” Tor informed me with a cocky grin.
“I told him it didn’t matter,” Web said with a grunt. “If you didn’t make the right choice, we’d just take you again.”
I laughed. I didn’t doubt that had been Webb’s intention or that Tor would have agreed. All I knew was they were mine, and I didn’t plan to let them go again.
“So you’re going to show me where I’m staying?” I said.
“With us, baby,” Webb stated. “You’ll be sleeping in our bed every night from now on.”
I liked the sound of that.
“I hear we have dinner first,” Tor said, and Webb growled.
“I can’t wait to introduce you to Emma and Soph,” I said. “They’re going to love you as much as I do.”
I paused, realizing what I’d admitted aloud.
“No taking that back,” Tor said, reaching out to cup my face and tilt it up to him. “We’ve fallen pretty hard for you, too.”
“What he means is: we love you, too,” Webb said, surprising me. Somehow, I’d imagined the words would be easier for Tor to say than Webb.
Tor turned to me with a wink, using a finger to push my chin up. “You needed to hear him say it first,” he whispered, dropping a kiss on my newly closed lips.
Webb stepped into Tor and me, kissing first me then Tor. “Are you sure we have to go to this dinner?”
I nodded. “I really want my friends to meet you guys and for you to meet them. Emma and her men are docked at the space station above us, and Soph and her guys move between there and here. It means I’ll get to see them often. I want everyone to be comfortable with each other. “
“Great,” Webb said. “That means we can get together with them another night and spend the rest of this one getting reacquainted with each other.” He cupped my ass and pulled me into him so I felt the hard ridge of his erection.
“We were just together earlier today,” I reminded him.
“Seems like weeks ago,” Tor replied with a groan.
I’d thought I was crazy to be falling so hard so fast. It was comforting to know they were right there with me, tumbling at my side. Really, it was no different than the others who’d been grouped in the Alpha Squad Enforcer program.
“Wait,” I said, trying unsuccessfully to step back. “You’re going to be part of the program?”
Tor and Webb both nodded.
“But how will that work with me? The entire concept is to put you with a female Enforcer.”
“First off, it was you or no one,” Webb said.
“Those were actually Webb’s exact words to the Commander. You or no one,” Tor told me. “We agreed to stay here and oversee all the changes. Command wants to triple our presence here. They’re putting a training center in for Enforcers. A medical unit, intelligence working in real time on the ground.”
“We’ll expect your input on the rest of your team,” Webb said.
“I’ll have a team here?”
“You’ll have everything you want here,” Tor vowed.
“With us,” Webb agreed. “So about this dinner…”
I laughed. “We’re going.”
Webb glanced at Tor and nodded. I found myself scooped up and draped over his shoulder, one arm wrapped behind my knees, the other palm planted firmly on my ass.
“What are you doing?” I exclaimed.
“It worked in our favor the first time we took you,” Webb stated.
I couldn’t really argue with that. It had worked in my favor, as well.
“You’re not planning to make a habit of this, are you?” I asked.
“Only if you make us,” Tor answered, while Webb nodded.
They were going to turn my life inside out and upside down, literally, and I was looking forward to every moment of it.
