  * Fashi was apprehended after documents, released by WikiLeaks, revealed his name in a cable from the U.S. embassy in Baku, Azerbaijan. Iranian investigators believed that Fashi, a twenty-four-year-old kickboxer, had been recruited in Baku, during a martial arts tournament and that he ultimately traveled to Israel. The State of Israel—and particularly the Mossad and the national defense industries—enjoyed close-knit relations with Azerbaijan.

  * The first Iranian nuclear scientist to be killed was Dr. Ardeshir Hassanpour. He was murdered on January 15, 2007, in an operation that the Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz claimed had been carried out by the Mossad.

  * Marwan Qawasmeh and Amer Abu Aisha were killed in a shootout with Israeli counterterrorist forces in September 2014. Hussam Qawasmeh was arrested by the Shin Bet and sentenced to three life sentences. He was also ordered to pay $63,000 to the families of the murdered teenagers pursuant to a new law that required the terrorists themselves to pay for the crimes they committed.

*On August 31, 2016, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit reversed the district court’s verdict in Sokolow v. Palestinian Authority on purely technical grounds. The court held that the plaintiffs did not have adequate jurisdiction over the defendants. The families have filed for review from the United States Supreme Court.
