“What are we doing, Andrew? You’re my boss.”
“I don’t know what this is, Tanya. I just know I’m feeling something I’ve never felt before, and it’s driving me so damned crazy. When we’re working together, I want to hold you and make love to you. When you’re not around, I’m frustrated as hell because I want to be with you.”
“You have so many women chasing after you, Andrew. I’m not going to be another one of your one-night stands. What is it that you want from me?”
“Hell if I know. All I know is I want it. You’re like a breath of fresh air after being deprived of oxygen. You’re not like those other women. You don’t want anything from me, but you make me want everything from you.”
He claimed her mouth once more just to show her how true his last statement was.
Tanya didn’t know she could ever feel the way he made her feel. It was as if someone had heard her most intimate thoughts and brought them to life.
“When I saw you dancing all night long, I wanted to snatch you from every one of those men. They had no right to wrap you in their arms. You belong to me.”
“I don’t belong to you, Andrew!” she reprimanded.
“You will.”
“Where were you all night long?”
“Watching you.”
She was confused. Not once had she seen him.
“I didn’t want you to see me. There was no way I could hide my feelings from you or anybody else. And the way you look in that dress makes me want to create a thousand new ways to sin.”
Her sharp intake of breath sounded so sensual in the night air, even to her own ears.
He pressed his lips against hers once more. Something dangerous heated her within. Everything Andrew was making her feel in that moment was exquisite. Yet, it was so forbidden. How could she begin a relationship that would have nothing to offer?
It was impossible for him to give her the love she wanted. Trying to pursue anything would be unfair to the both of them, but she wanted him so badly and denying herself just this little taste was punishment enough.
She thought about the fairytale of Cinderella. If there could only be this one night, she would allow herself to have it and nurse her regrets in the morning. She was sure there were bound to be plenty of regrets. But that would be fine if she could only stay close to him a little while longer. Besides, she planned to retreat to her parents’ home and heal her heart.
Tanya knew she was fooling herself. Yet, she did not care. She lost herself in the moment and the kiss.
Andrew pulled back, “We’ve got to get out of here before people see us.” He grabbed her hand and began guiding her back inside.
Tanya paused. If she went with him, there was no turning back. She would have to live with the decision forever. Letting go of all her reservations, Tanya followed his lead as he led her to the penthouse suite.
As the door to the suite unlocked, Tanya reminded herself that she had one more chance to do the sensible thing and leave, but she didn’t. She needed to know what it felt like to be near him, to be wanted by him and to be possessed by his passion.
Tanya followed him through the living room, past the bar and into the bedroom as he held her hand tightly. The luxurious surroundings were nothing more than a blur as they moved quickly through the expansive space, but she didn’t really care. They couldn’t get to the bedroom fast enough.
Andrew turned Tanya around so her back was up against his body. He gently kissed the exposed skin on her neck as he slid down the spaghetti straps of her gown. He ran his finger across the top of her back until his hand reached the zipper. Slowly, he slid the zipper down until her dress dropped to the floor. Andrew turned Tanya back around so he could take in the sight of her matching red, lace lingerie and high heels.
Instead of feeling self-conscious, Tanya felt confident, knowing that he wanted her. Andrew pulled her in and effortlessly removed her strapless bra as Tanya stepped out of her shoes. She pushed him onto the bed and straddled him. Slowly, she unbuttoned his shirt while she kissed his smooth, hard chest and her hands caressed each chiseled muscle on his stomach.
When her hands reached the button of his pants, he grabbed her wrists to stop her. Andrew flipped Tanya onto her back and took the handkerchief out of his jacket pocket. He slid off his jacket and unbuttoned shirt as he sat upright in the bed, now straddling Tanya.
He grabbed Tanya’s wrists and secured them firmly by tying them to the slatted headboard with the handkerchief. Eagerly, Tanya anticipated what would happen next as she looked up into Andrew’s eyes. A devilish grin foretold that she wouldn’t regret her decision to be with him that night.
His mouth moved expertly across her breasts, arousing deep sensations that coursed through every nerve of her body. Taking his time, Andrew kissed her chest, stomach, around her naval and down to the hem of her red thong. Using his hand, he slid her panties down and off her legs. Applying light pressure to her clit with his tongue, Tanya exhaled to release all her inhibitions. She felt the pressure building up between her legs and cried out as the intense pleasure took hold of her body.
Andrew untied her wrists, slid off his remaining clothes and pushed his manhood into her core. Tanya wrapped her legs around him, encouraging him to go deeper. They moved as if dancing to a song that was playing just for them. His movements complemented hers as she welcomed his sensual thrusts with raised hips. Andrew moved quicker as he climaxed, and Tanya felt her second orgasm explode from within.
After a few minutes of silence, Andrew finally said, “I’m really glad you’re here.”
“So am I,” answered Tanya, as they both drifted off to sleep.
The sun trickled in through the curtains, signifying that morning had arrived with a new set of challenges. Andrew was spooning Tanya from behind, and even though she hated to admit it, she loved the way it felt to wake up next to him.
What did I do? What does this mean? How is he going to treat me now that we’ve slept together?
“Good morning,” whispered Andrew, as he kissed Tanya on the cheek.
“Good morning.”
“Should we order breakfast?”
Tanya looked at the clock and immediately sat up. “I have to go.”
“Where are you going?” Andrew sounded disappointed.
“Sarah and I are going to Florida to visit my parents,” said Tanya, as she rushed out of bed to pull on her dress.
“Okay. Calm down. I’ll have my driver meet us downstairs.”
“No! You can’t walk me downstairs. What if people see us? I am still trying to fix your reputation from the Isabelle scandal. And, I certainly don’t want to be on the cover of Top Gossip again.”
“Good point. Just wait until my driver tells me he’s in the lobby so we can minimize the chances of you being recognized.”
“Okay,” said Tanya.
Andrew made the call and Tanya waited, unsure of what to say to Andrew.
“He said he’ll be out front in a couple minutes. That gives us a minute to talk.”
Talk? He’s already going to tell me this isn’t going to work out? Shit! What a huge mistake!
Tanya rushed through the suite to the front door.
“Tanya, wait!” said Andrew abruptly as Tanya made her way out the door. “I need to let you know something before you go.”
“I’m sorry,” said Tanya. “I..It’s just…I have to go.”
“Tanya,” he reached out to her.
She escaped his touch, and quickly closed the door behind her.
She rushed downstairs and kept her head down as she walked through the lobby. The familiar black Range Rover was parked in front of the hotel. The driver quickly ushered her in and drove her to her sister’s building.
Tanya was uncertain what Andrew thought about her, but she knew she could never be an Isabelle, Tiffany, or Lexie. She wanted to believe she meant more to him than those other women, but with his track record, she really doubted a true relationship would develop.

Who had she been kidding? They had nothing in common. The small-town girl from Indiana was no match for a man like Andrew Greene, the young, successful billionaire, who owned a large communications agency that could have any woman he wanted. Surely, she’d just be another notch on his belt, a joke in the breakroom, and at worst just a bad memory.
New York was making her behave in ways contrary to her character. For the first time, she was really grateful for the few days she planned to take off. Time in Florida with her parents would bring her back to her roots. She wanted to feel grounded once again.
Yes, that’s exactly what she would do. Leave the company phone and laptop behind and escape for some much-needed fun in the sun.

Sitting beside her mother on the balcony of her parents’ retirement home in Boca Raton, Florida sipping mimosas, Tanya felt more relaxed than she had in a while. Yet, she knew the feeling was fleeting. She and Sarah had been there for the past three days, and they were leaving for the airport in a matter of hours to return to New York.
“Has he called since you left?” asked Tanya’s mother, Judith.
“Who?” Tanya asked, looking up from the hash browns she stirred around on her plate. Tanya had filled in Sarah on all of the details, but Tanya knew Sarah wouldn’t share that information with their mother.
“Brian. Who else? Has he called to apologize and ask forgiveness?”
Tanya shook her head and focused once more on eating.
“Nope, and I’m not expecting him to. It’s been nine months, and I want nothing to do with him.”
“Then why are you so down?” Judith pried, picking up a piece of avocado toast and setting it on Tanya’s plate.
“I’m not. I’ve just got a lot on my mind regarding work.”
“I’ve known you all of your life, and there’s something else bothering you. It isn’t work. Is it Sarah? Is she behaving up there?” her mother worried.
Tanya looked up at her mother and smiled a reassuring smile. “No, Mom, Sarah’s doing very well, just like she told you when we got in the other night. I’m proud of her.”
“So, are you saying your big sister has finally settled down from her wild, partying ways?” Judith teased, with a smile of her own.
“Not at all. But she’s grown up a lot since college.”
“Then honey, what is it?”
“There’s this guy. Everyone’s warning me to stay away from him, including him. But my heart won’t let me.”
“Why is everyone warning you away from him?”
“Because he has a bad reputation. He always has a new, beautiful woman on his arm.”
“And he’s warning you, too?”
Tanya shook her head somberly, spreading the avocado on her toast with a knife.
“It’s been my experience when a man warns you away from him, he’s usually trying to protect you. That alone means he cares for you. But perhaps he isn’t ready to settle down. If that’s the case, you cannot force him. Never try to change a man, darling. Accept him for who he is, or move on.”
Tanya knew her mother’s words were true, but they weren’t easy to accept.
Tanya’s father pulled up a chair next to his daughter. “Your grandma once told your mother to stay away from me, but look how that turned out.”
Tanya’s mother smiled. “Yes, Greg, she did. I didn’t listen either, just like Tanya won’t. But that caused me a lot of heartache in the beginning.” She sent a cautionary glance her daughter’s way.
“You don’t regret it. You’re glad you followed your heart, aren’t you?” Greg asked, leaning in to kiss his wife affectionately on the lips.
“Yes, I am,” she replied.
“What heartache?” Sarah asked, plopping down onto the last empty chair.
“Sarah, get inside and cover up, before old Mr. Winters has a heart attack,” said Judith.
The Brazilian bikini Sarah wore was a small patch of triangle in the front, minimal coverage in the rear, and barely covered her breasts.
“Oh, he’s already seen me. That’s why I came inside. He was watering one particular tree a little too long. His stare was creeping me out,” Sarah replied.
“Your daughter’s going to get us kicked out of here before we’re settled in, Greg,” Judith joked.
The three ladies laughed, before Sarah left to get dressed.
“I’d better go get packed since we’re leaving soon. Thanks for the talk, Mom and Dad,” Tanya said, kissing her parents on the cheek.
“We’ve got another problem,” Andrew said, tossing a newspaper on Tanya’s desk the next morning. His sleeves were rolled up to his elbow and he appeared tired, as if he had lost much sleep. A five-o-clock shadow covered his jaw structure, giving him a harried appearance.
Tanya had been looking forward to seeing Andrew again ever since she left his hotel room, but his demanding tone and cold attitude took her by surprise. She had been thinking back on her mother’s advice all yesterday on the way back to town, and throughout the night as she tossed and turned.
Why is Andrew so afraid of getting close to people? Tanya began searching for Andrew online to find out all that she could about his past, but she didn’t find much. Besides information on Greener Communications and articles about his connections to many women, she couldn’t find any information about him.
Rather than continue to make assumptions about what he wanted or didn’t want, she made up her mind that she needed to have a conversation with Andrew. No decisions could be made until she cleared the air between them. She was not looking for a marriage proposal, but she didn’t want to be a booty call. She wanted so much more, and she knew he didn’t.
Andrew was still standing over her, bristling with anger; she realized their reunion would was not the magical moment she secretly hoped for and wanted. Turning her gaze to the tabloid, Top Gossip, she was shocked to see a picture of him and her on the cover kissing.
The picture was taken of the two of them outside on the balcony. A second photo showed Tanya leaving the hotel the morning after in her red dress, which she had been wearing the night before.
The title was Billionaire CEO, Andrew Greene, and His New Employee’s Walk of Shame.
Flipping to the inside story, Tanya quickly scanned the report. The story rehashed his recent scandal with Isabelle Manning and told how he was once again making a move on a novice. She had no idea how the news magazine had learned she was fresh out of college and new to the company. It discussed how like so many others, he was pursuing the company’s “fresh meat,” and she too would be soon discarded.
“Is this what you’re doing? Gathering tidbits of gossip and feeding them to these garbage tabloids?” he shouted.
“Andrew, what do you mean? I would never—”
“It just seems a bit strange that we have been caught two times. How does that happen? Then, you escape for a few days and this pops up? Is this how you want to make a name for yourself? By using me? I know how these people work. They’re usually on it right away if they have a lead. I’ve been calling you and you’ve not returned any of my calls!”
She was glad it was extremely early in the morning. No one else had arrived at the office and Tanya was certain his thunderous voice boomed throughout the entire floor.
“I didn’t know you were calling me! I needed a break and time to get away. I left my cell phone and laptop at home. I just now plugged in my computer and charged my phone.”
He shook his head in disgust, tossing a look of disbelief her way.
“You expect me to believe that?”
“I don’t care what you believe, Andrew. I have no reason to ruin your reputation! I just started this job, and I can’t afford to be here without one. I’m very interested in turning the company’s reputation around and making it even more profitable than it is. Besides, don’t get mad at me! You’re the one who’s going around doing things in public that attracts this kind of attention! What did you expect to happen? I didn’t ask you
to kiss me. And don’t you think I’m mortified that I’m being portrayed as your newest plaything? I don’t want to be known as the girl who sleeps her way to the top. This is going to haunt me throughout my career. So, maybe, I should be the one yelling at you! Veronica’s right you know—you are on the arm of another woman each week. And for some reason, I actually believed you cared about me. I’m sure that’s how you make all of the women feel.”
“Unbelievable!” he thundered, leaving Tanya’s office, slamming the door open so hard it shook the hinges.
Tanya hardly had a moment to catch her breath when Veronica stormed into her office. Great, now I have to deal with her.
“So, are you sticking to your story that nothing is going on between you and Andrew?”
Tanya didn’t feel the need to explain her actions, but she couldn’t control her frustration. “Veronica, Andrew is not your boyfriend. I am sorry it didn’t work out between you two, but instead of bothering me, do your job. You’re in charge of damage control, right? So fix it!”
Before Veronica could answer, Rebecca stormed into the office.
“This is a huge embarrassment for the company and for yourself. When I hired you, I expected more. How dare you act in such a manner? And, I heard the way you spoke to Veronica. You do realize you’re not her boss, right? I am. I tell her when to fix things. You have no right to talk to her that way when you’re the one who screwed up.”
Veronica raised her eyebrows and flashed Tanya an “I told you so” look.
Tanya couldn’t take the berating any longer. Andrew had been the one to pursue her, yet she was the one being blamed.
“Don’t ever speak to me like that. Either of you. He pursued me.” Tanya paused, knowing that she should end the conversation, but she couldn’t help herself. “Tell me Veronica, are you really upset that I slept with him, or are you more upset that he chose me over you?”
Veronica was silent.
