Phoenix smiled. He would be lost without Max. “Okay thank you for always having my back.”
Max laughed. “Dude, we incubi gotta stick together. Later.” With that he hung up and Phoenix laughed.
Chapter Eight
Jennifer looked at the time and realized she hadn’t seen or heard from Phoenix in three hours. She stood up and grabbed her purse; she was supposed to be off thirty minutes ago. She saw a redhead walking towards her, well most likely towards Phoenix's office.
“Jennifer, tell Phoenix I am here to see him.” Melissa didn’t even look at Jennifer; she kept her eyes on Phoenix's office door.
Jennifer picked up her phone and pressed the button that connected her phone to his. “Darling, I am just turning off my computer.”
“Mr. DuPont, Melissa wants to see you.” She looked back up at Melissa; she was tapping her toe and had her hands on her hips.
“Shit, I don't want to see her. I wanted to leave with you. Will you please wait for me?” His voice softened and she felt herself blushing.
“Of course I will.” She smiled.
“Good, now send her in.”
Jennifer hung up her phone and smiled at Melissa. “He said to go in.”
Melissa glared at Jennifer. “Of course he said that.” She looked back at the door and smiled. “I'm going to marry that man someday.” She flipped her bright red hair and pushed her chest out then opened the door.
Jennifer had never been a violent person, but she wanted to shove Melissa's head through a wall. She glanced at her phone; she would give Phoenix ten minutes. After that she was leaving. Jennifer threw herself back in her chair.

Phoenix smiled at Melissa as she walked in his office; he hoped this would be a fast meeting. “Hello Melissa, what is going on?” She shook her head, he saw she was upset.
“Oh Phoenix, our commercial is lost.” His eyes widened, he had paid too much money for this commercial, for his latest project. It was for a new touch screen tablet that you could project the screen on the wall.
“What do you mean lost?” He kept his voice calm, as he sat back behind his desk. Melissa sat in front of him.
“I don’t know I gave it to the IT guy, and he can't find it.” She said and furrowed her eyebrows. He made himself breathe, to keep himself calm. He wanted to rip people apart until he found this commercial.
“Which IT guy?”
Phoenix watched Melissa look up as if she was thinking. “I think Sam or Tim,” she said and looked back at him. Well he knew that there wasn't a Tim that worked in the IT department, but there was a Sam.
He picked up his phone and called, Sam in IT. “IT, this is Sam, what can I help you with?”
“Sam, where the hell is my commercial?” He heard Sam choking, and he shut his eyes.
Sam cleared his throat. “Mr. DuPont, I am looking for it. I’m thinking someone picked it up in here. But you will be the first person I call.”
Phoenix felt his rage building. “What do you mean someone picked it up in there? Aren’t you the manager?”
He heard paper being moved around. “Yes sir, I’m not really sure what happened. Maybe someone picked it up by accident.” Sam had terror in his voice.
He had security cameras that were all over the building. “Check with security and ask them to look back on the videos. Do you remember that last time you saw it?”
“Yes sir.”
“Good, now go and find my commercial. It needs to be turned in, in two days.”
“Yes Mr. DuPont, and I am so sorry.” Phoenix looked down at the clock on his desk and groaned. He had spent fifteen minutes dealing with this.
“Sam I want you to call Melissa as soon as you find it. I have plans tonight.” He stood up. Melissa was glaring at him.
“Of course, Mr. DuPont.” Phoenix hung up his phone and Melissa stood up; she walked to him and he turned in his chair to face her.
She put her hand on his shoulder. “Phoenix I will find it and get it in on time. I promise you.” She put her right hand above her heart.
He nodded. “I really have to go. Call me if you really need me, and leave me a message.” He looked down at her hand that was still on his shoulder. She moved it and smiled at him.
“Have a good night Phoenix.” She turned around to walk out of his office. He walked out of his office and glanced at her desk. She was gone, just like he thought she would be. He needed to get to Jennifer's place, and he didn't blame her being mad. He quickly rushed out of the office.

Fifteen minutes past, she walked out of the elevator to her car. She got into her car and saw Mark standing by Phoenix black BMW. He nodded at her and she smiled. Jennifer knew that he would be calling their boss as soon as she was driving away.
She stopped at her favorite fast food place on the way home, Taco Bell, and headed to her apartment. She wasn't surprised when she saw Phoenix standing against her door. “This is about Melissa?” She met his dark blue eyes and didn’t say anything. “Darling, the only women I want is you. She moved away from him and grabbed her food. “I figured you would be waiting for me, so I got you a few soft tacos.” He looked at the food and frowned. “Please tell me you have had Taco Bell.” He shook his head, and her mouth dropped open. She took out a soft taco for him, and handed it to him. “Here, try it.” He looked at it and shook his head. “Please.”
“You know this stuff is really bad for you.” He arched an eyebrow at her and held up the taco.
“Just eat it.” She took a bite of hers own. Phoenix unwrapped the taco slowly, and glared at it. Jennifer snorted trying to hold back her laughter. He sniffed it and took a bite.
He stopped and looked at her. “It's really good.” He took a larger bite this time, and she smiled.
After they were done eating, she walked out of the kitchen and took off her shirt. His eyes were glued to her and she smiled. “Meg, this is your home too.” Jennifer moved out of the way to allow Megan to pass.
She walked to the couch and sat down. Megan smiled at Jennifer. “Phoenix is here, isn’t he?”
Jennifer sighed and nodded. “Sorry we fell asleep, and woke up when you were knocking.”
Megan started laughing. “So, your hair is messed up from the sex or sleep.”
Jennifer smiled and shrugged. “Both.”
Megan looked at Jennifer and her smile fell. “I'm so sorry Jen. I am such an ass.” Tears started to fill her eyes.
“Oh Meg.” She sat on the couch and grabbed her best friend’s hand.
Megan shook her head. “No, I said some hurtful things and I hate myself for that. I’m just scared for you. You're pregnant with twins and to add to that Phoenix is an incubus.”
Now was the time to her Megan the truth. “And I’m a Nephilim.” She was so frightened that her best friend would take off again.
“What is that?” Megan asked.
Jennifer smiled, “I am an angel's child.” Megan took back her hand and covered her face.
She started to laugh. “Your babies are half angels, and half demons.” Jennifer smiled, she already thought of that. “Jen, can you get Phoenix for me? I want to tell him that I’m sorry for being an ass to him.” Jennifer stood up, and walked towards her bedroom.
She walked in and he was dressed and sitting on her bed. He had his phone in his hands. He looked up at her and didn’t offer her a smile. “Oh Phoenix, don’t look at me like that. I just didn’t want her to freak out.”
He stood up and walked over her window. “I know I’m not good enough for you, and Megan sees it.”
Jennifer's mouth drops open. “What! You’re everything to me, Phoenix look at me.” He slowly turned around. “Phoenix, I love you. I have never felt this way before, and I never want hear you say you're not good enough for me. I am the one that doesn't deserve to be with you. You are perfect in every way, and I don’t come close to perfection.” Jennifer felt her heart beating faster.
Phoenix closed his eyes. “You can't love me, you are too pure.”
Jennifer walked over to Phoenix, and touched his face. “I do Phoenix, I love you.” He opened his eyes and she smiled at him.
He put his hand on her face. “Darling, I don’t know if I can ever return your love. No one has ever given it to me before.”
She smiled at him. “I just want you.” He kissed her sweetly, and she pulled away before they both wanted something more. “Megan wants talk to you.” He made a face that made her giggle. “Hey now, she just wants to tell you that she is sorry.”
He sighed. “Fine. I'll do it for you.”
“See Phoenix, you care about me.” He took
her hand and lightly squeezed it.
“Darling, I care about you.” He opened the door and they walked out holding hands to see Megan.
Chapter Nine
Megan was where Jennifer left her, on the couch. “Megan?” Jennifer said and her best friend turns around. She smiled at them.
She stood up and met them before they could make it to the couch. “Phoenix, I wasn’t fair to you. I saw how Jen was after you left her, and I wanted to kill you. But, now I can see you aren't a slime ball. I’m sorry for acting like I did.” Phoenix tightened his hand on hers, and then let go.
“I wasn’t fair to you either, and I don’t blame you for protecting Jennifer. But I want you to know if I had to I would give up my life for her and our babies.” If Jennifer weren't in love with him she would have fallen, right then.
Megan smiled, and nodded. “Good, because she doesn't deserve to be a single mother of twins.”
“I will be there for her and our babies no matter what.” Jennifer’s heart swelled, and there was a strong movement in her abdomen. She gasped, and fell to her knees. “Jennifer!” Phoenix said, and she looked up. She put her hand on her abdomen, and she felt movement. Phoenix lifted her face, and she felt her tears streaming down her face. “Megan is calling Max.”
Jennifer shook her head. “Let me see your hand.” His eyebrows furrowed together, and she smiled. He gave her his hand and she placed it where the movement was. Within a few seconds she and Phoenix felt it, and his eyes widened. He looked down, and a slow smile formed on his face.
“Max was in the area, he'll be here soon. He said--” Megan stopped talking when she saw Phoenix and Jennifer.
“Megan, come here,” Jennifer said, and Megan did. She put her hand on Jennifer's abdomen.
Jennifer smiled at the two people she loved. The only one missing was her mom. Another strong movement made her gasp again. “Holy shit! That is so awesome!” Megan said and Jennifer burst out laughing. Jennifer glanced at Phoenix and he looked like he might pass out. She looked back at Megan, and she nodded. She knew Jennifer wanted to be alone with him. “I'm going to go wait for the good doctor outside. What does he look like?”
