“I’m just joking. It wouldn’t kill me anyway.”
Dominic rolled his eyes. “Give me your phone.”
Caleb glared at his outstretched hand. “Why?”
“Just do it.” He watched Caleb reach into his jean pocket then patted down his body. “I don’t have it.”
“For crying out loud.” Dominic cursed. He wasn’t used to being the designated driver. He took out his own cell. “Jade’s number. What is it?”
“You’re not calling her.” Caleb snapped.
“Trust me Caleb a little sexual healing is what you need right now.”
“Is that all you think about? She’s my charge!”
Dominic put away his phone a grin parted his ruby red lips. “She’s a lot more than that. Come on Caleb I’m not stupid. You’ve slept with her haven’t you? All that pent up frustration over Holly. Making her come knowing you can’t or you’ll lose your wings. A guy has to find a release Caleb, even you.”
Caleb’s legs buckled and he crumpled to the floor. “Fuck you!”
“Caleb I’m trying to help you.”
“I don’t need your help.”
Dominic sat next to him in the middle of the mountain road. “I never wanted to hurt you Caleb, but when it comes to Holly I can’t control myself.”
“So you’re beginning to believe then?” Caleb asked him softly before taking another slip of beer.
“What in fate?” Dominic let out a chuckle. “You know I don’t buy that crap unlike you. Fate is what you make it.”
“I had to do this Dom. She would never have a future if we stayed together. She’d be running from Lucifer for the rest of her life.”
“You telling me that Jade didn’t play a part in your decision.”
“Of course she did. I’m tied to her but I don’t love her.”
“I know Caleb. So are going to let me ring her now…?”
It was midnight by the time Dominic returned to the cottage. He bade Andrea goodnight then crept into Holly’s room. He watched the moonlight play on her serene face. Marvelling at her beauty as he undressed. Slipping underneath the sheets he wrapped his arms around her. She sighed and snuggled into him still fast asleep. He had been waiting a long time for this now that she was his he couldn’t contain himself any longer. He rubbed his throbbing budge against her panties, the friction rippled through him causing a shudder of anticipation to travel up his spine. She stirred then whipped her head round.
“Dom?”
He brought his hungry lips down on hers forcefully. He felt her tense then relax as he stroked the insides of her mouth with his tongue. “I want to be in you.” He whispered breathlessly. Her eyes widened but she nodded her head in consent. His fingers slid into her panties gently touching her sex, as she got more aroused he slipped a finger inside her. Holly’s back arched off the mattress as he explored her, feeling her get wetter he inserted another two and watched the euphoria on her face as he brought her to a climax.
He loved the helpless noises she made as she came for him. Her skin was hot and slick with sweat. “Put it in.” She pleaded.
“Not yet.” He whispered. “You’re not wet enough I don’t want to hurt you.”
He threw back the covers exposing her aroused body. He straddled her lifting her vest and sucked on her nipples while his fingers went back to her clit. The way she responded to his touch only made him harder; she fisted the sheets and buried her head in the pillow as she came again. While she rode out the high. Dominic retrieved a condom from his leather jacket pocket. Ripping it open he moved back to the bed and expertly rolled it along his erect penis. She watched him with ravenous eyes as he roughly tugged off her panties. He held himself over her and gently slid her legs open with his abdomen. He felt her muscles tense. “Relax Holly.” He whispered before kissing her, his lips distracting as he teased her slick opening with his crown. He let out a groan as he slid two thirds into her. She gasped. “Jesus you’re so tight.” He began pumping her slowly watching the pure bliss that radiated from her. “Lift your hips.” He ordered softly sliding into her more when she obeyed. Animal lust overcame him and he thrusted into her with a controlled frenzy. She gave a thready cry as she came a third time, her tone rising when he didn’t slow. All his length was inside her now and he felt the tension building as he went faster.
“Oh…god.” She panted, her perfectly rounded breasts bounced up and down underneath the cotton of her vest. “Fuck I’m going to come.” He told her. Staring into her bright blue eyes he shot his load. They lay there together in the dark, mouths pressed against skin fingers exploring every inch of each other.
“Damn that was good.” He told her assaulting her mouth with his. He was still semi-erect when he slipped out of her. He could never get enough of her, he could go all night but he clearly saw she was shattered. For her first time she had been amazing. He pulled off the full condom and tied it off tossing it into the waste bin beside the desk on the far side of the room.
“Don’t freak out if there’s a few spots of blood on the sheets, its normal your first time.” He told her getting back into bed.
“I’m not a total Idiot Dom; we did have sex education at school.” She mused.
“Clearly you were paying attention in class then because you were amazing.”
“Yeah right. You did all the work.”
He held her chin and forced her to look at him. “I’m being serious. Not many have made me come in under ten minutes Holly.” Her eyes peered into his and the words spilled out of his mouth automatically. “God I love you.”
A beam worthy of Heaven broke out on her lips. “Does this mean…?”
He smiled. “You belong to me now and me only. “There’s no way I’m letting another man steal you again.”
She shook her head slightly. “I can’t believe we’re actually together.”
“You need me to prove it again?” He teased.
“I need to walk in the morning Dom.”
“Amateur.” He kissed her again then sighed with content when she fell asleep wrapped around him. She had been worth the wait.
Chapter Four
∬
Nephilim Country
Holly woke to find a little wooden tray with legs set over her.
She turned her head half expecting to find the other side of the bed empty, expected Dominic to had bailed like Caleb always had, but to her sweet surprise he was propped on his side gazing at her like he hadn’t seen her in years.
Her heart raced and her checks flushed with colour as she remembered what he had felt like last night, his lips bruising hers as he hungrily devoured her, the mind numbing pleasure of his hard cock ploughing into her. Holly’s breath caught as she re-lived every last second of her first lay: Dominic had been everything she had hoped and more.
Holly’s joy was almost enough to quench the gaping void of hurt and confusion that Caleb had sliced open…almost.
She turned her attention to the irresistible mix of bacon, eggs, French toast and mushrooms in front of her. She cleaned the plate in seconds while he watched silently. “That was lovely, didn’t realize how hungry I was.” She said patting her stomach.
He pushed the tray to the floor ,making the china plate and the silver cutlery spill on to the dull wood floor with a clatter then pulled her on top of him.
“Dom?” The quickness of his hands threw her off balance and she spread her palms against his muscular chest to right herself. He stared into her with pure animal lust she felt him stiffen beneath her. She swallowed hard fighting the urge to feel him inside of her again. Wordlessly he rolled up her white vest and let it fall to the floor.
Dominic’s dark eyes drank her in piece by piece, she squirmed under his steel gaze and felt his hardness rub against her silt.
She exhaled deeply.
“You are beautiful.” He muttered to himself.
“You’re not too bad yourself.” She uttered back then gasped when she felt his fingers between her legs. Her th
ighs squeezed his hips and she grinded against his touch. “That feels so…good.” She moaned tossing her head back, letting the waves of delight break against her.
“Holly,” Dominic’s voice was tight. “Get on me.”
She stopped rocking and looked at him. “We need a…”
“We don’t need a condom.” He interrupted her.
“What?”
He sighed heavily then held her to him while he sat up. “I can’t have kids Holly.”
She sat back absorbing the fact that a family with Dominic was off the cards. Not that she had planned on having any; her future was pretty much summed up for her. But still it would have been nice to have the choice.
“Are you saying that the Prince of Hell fires blanks?” She asked trying to hold in her amusement. His lips twitched. “You’re going to get it now young lady.” He teased while lifting her hips and slowly eased her on to his solid member. She panted as her clit struggled to accommodate him. “Jesus.” She groaned as he pushed all the way in. “Take it Holly.” He told her while nuzzling her neck.
The pain was well worth the pleasure as she grinded. Her arousal peeking when he let out a throaty groan. “Faster.” He hissed between clenched teeth, his hazel eyes shone with desire as he watched her fuck him. Holly clamped her abdomen muscles and worked him fast and hard screaming like a banshee as her climax arrived. His groans and gasps made her wild with passion as she bounced up and down wanting to make him come. He took her mouth hard as she felt warmness shoot into her. His body shuddered underneath hers, tensed then relaxed. His head rested back against the pillow, his raven mane was wet with sweat as she ran her fingers through it, his face was tranquil and his eye-lids fluttered. She had never seen him like this; he was always so controlled and impeccably groomed. Their intimacy broke down the walls he had put up to protect himself, he had bared himself to her and she loved him more for it.
“Damn it Holly, you’re going to kill me.” He whispered breathlessly. She stared at him with a mixture of surprise and wonder. Dominic Prince had had many conquests over the millennia all with more experience than she had. Was he just trying to encourage her or was his gasps for air real?
He opened his eyes that were now almost golden and she had her answer: they held such vulnerability that she hadn’t imagined Dominic capable of. He caressed her cheek with his palm while a dangerous glint gleamed in his eyes.
“Now let’s see how you do in the shower.”
Holly sat on the steps of the porch looking out at the beauty on display; the sun was shining, birds were singing and the air was perfumed by the red rosebuds growing in with the hedges around the cottage. She sipped her tea and sighed with contentment. It was stolen moments like this that filled her with hope. Maybe she could outrun Michael, Heaven and Lucifer; maybe she would live to see her 19th birthday. Then Caleb came to the forefront and the hope died.
“He’s not coming back, is he?” She asked Dominic as he settled down next to her, his hair still wet from the shower. He pulled her to him and kissed her crown. “Of course he is his still your Guardian Angel remember. In fact you’ll see him tonight.”
Holly pulled back to look at him. “I will?”
Dominic looked away then shifted his position so that his back rested against the railings. “Do you know where we are?”
“Oregon. Caleb told me.”
He faced her. “We’re on the outskirts of St. Heralds, Oregon.”
Holly screwed up her face in confusion. “Never heard of it.”
He smiled thinly. “St. Heralds isn’t on any human map Holly. As far as your kind knows it doesn’t exist.”
“Dom what are talking about?”
He inched closer to her. “Has Caleb ever mentioned The Nephilim to you?”
She shook her head.
“Immortals have been bedding mortal women for centuries, occasionally it produces offspring.”
“But I thought you said you couldn’t have children.”
“We’re not talking about me. It’s complicated Holly but the gist is lower level Immortals whether they’re Angels or Demons can sometimes reproduce, it’s very rare but it does happen. These children are called Nephilim. They’re half human half Immortal.”
“Okay, what do they have to do with me?”
She saw him falter. “This town was built for them. Nephilim can be very powerful and are sought after for that very reason.”
“By who?”
“Heaven and Hell, a Nephilim could help tip the war. They are a valuable resource. St. Herald’s was built as a safe haven for them, somewhere they can learn who they are and how to control their gifts without being pressed ganged. The town is protected by ancient magic; an Immortal can’t cross the charms that surround St. Heralds.”
Holly was getting a headache. “Then what are you and Caleb doing here?”
“Okay I’ll rephrase that last bit. Only I and Caleb can cross.”
She got to her feet and faced him. “Dom what am I doing here? My parents were human. I’m not a Nephilim.”
He went to her and took her hand in his. “St. Heralds can hide you Holly. Not forever but at least until we find out who was behind the Demon attack in Venice.”
She stepped away from him panicking. “I didn’t even graduate High school I can’t go to college. I can’t be around…”
“It’s not a college in the normal sense of the word Holly. “It could help you with your powers; I’ve done all I can with them.”
Over the summer Dominic had been helping her to control the powers that she had inherited from her witch ancestor. It hadn’t gone great but it no longer hurt when her emotions caused them to manifest. They still felt foreign and evil to her though.
“Dom you’re asking me to be around…people again. Have you forgotten how that went last time? A whole town was massacred just to get to me; I can’t have more blood on my hands!”
Dominic grabbed her fiercely by the shoulders his eyes the colour of midnight. “Now you listen to me Holly Adams, Cherry Falls was not your fault. Put the blame where it’s due which is firmly at Michael’s feet. You have enough on your plate, don’t burden yourself with the dead too.”
Tears slid down her face and she slapped them away. “What if I can’t do this…?”
Sympathy softened his face and his hands slid down her bare arms until they folded over hers. “Holly you astound me with just how much you can do this. Princess most would have been carried off to the madhouse by now.
“You give me far too much credit, if it wasn’t for you and Caleb keeping me sane, I would have been.”
He clicked his tongue. “How about we strike a deal then? I’ll promise to always be there when you need me, if you promise to give St. Heralds a try in return.”
Holly studied his gorgeous face wondering what she had done to have him not only in her life but also in her bed. She shook her head laughing. “I hate it when you look at me like that.”
“Why?”
“It makes me feel like agreeing to anything.”
A sly grin spread out on his seductive lips and she knew what he was thinking but thankfully he kept it clean. “Does that mean we have a deal?”
Holly nodded her head grudgingly.
Dominic pulled her to him and wrapped her in his arms as the last rays of sun hit them. “Well then since this is your last night of freedom before college, why don’t we go out and do some celebrating? Call it our first date.”
“You date?”
“Not normally.” He said with a wink.
Sunnyside amusement park was packed with students, families and couples. As Holly walked past the flocks of people she came uncomfortable aware that all eyes were on her. She shrugged it off not letting them bring her down. She loved amusement parks and being here with Dominic made it even better.
She was a kid in a sweetie shop pulling Dominic back and forth between rides and stalls. Her enthusiasm must have been infectious because Dominic looked like he was havin
g the time of his life. She had never seen him so laid back and blissfully happy. He won everything he tried his hand to: ring toss, coconut throw, shoot five in a row. Each time he let Holly chose the prize. By eight o’clock she was hidden beneath a stack of teddy bears.
Dominic left her and her army of teddies on a bench beside the dodgems while he went to get cheeseburgers. She sat back and took in the atmosphere of the fairground. The last time she had been to one was when her parents took her, Jo and Ricky to nearby Greenfields, she had been ten and indulged her chocolate addiction way too much, she had spent the car ride home barfing into a plastic bag which Ricky had held open. The memory of Ricky still brought tears and she quickly pushed it a side. Holly desperately clung to the idea that he was still alive; they had never found his body. She glanced to her left to see a crowd of students; most of them looked her age, staring at her. She stared back but they didn’t avert their eyes.
“There you go,” Dominic said handing her food. “Cheeseburger with onions and a coke.” It wasn’t until he sat down next to her he realized that he didn’t have her attention.
“Just ignore them Holly.”
She whipped her head round to look at him. “Who are they? And why do they find me so interesting?”
“They’re Nephilim,” he said swallowing a mouthful of burger. “Almost everyone in this town is. And just maybe their staring at you because you are the most beautiful sight they have ever seen.”
She threw him a sour look.
“Come on, it’s about time we were getting back.”
Holly gathered up her bears and ate her burger while Dominic guided her in and out of the throngs of people to the exit.
“Did you have a good time?” Dominic asked her hanging a leather jacket clad arm around her shoulders when they entered the dark parking lot. “The best.” She said standing on tip toes to plant a peck on his rosy check. “Thank you.”
“It was my pleasure princess.” He hugged her to him as they walked back to his bike.
Holly was on cloud nine. Their first date had been the best she had ever had, not that she had been on many, her parents had been very strict on dating and quite frankly she had never liked first dates. She always felt awkward and self-consciousness. But tonight had been simply magical.
