She reached out and he took her hand.
“Last night, I laid in bed staring at the ceiling, knowing that today I would have to tell you how much you mean to me. I’m clumsy at words.”
“You’re doing fine, cowboy.” She smiled.
“I want to spend the rest of my life making up for today’s blunder. I have fallen madly in love with you. Please, Jenna will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”
Jenna listened to the words. She waited for her heart to tell her to run. Instead, it only told her to accept and this love she’d never planned for. She would just go with the flow this time, and maybe they could elope. “I love you, Carson Teague Murphy. You’ve made me realize that love happens in the spur of the moment, when you least expect it. It can’t be planned. Yes, I will marry you.”
Carson pulled the earphones from his head and then reached over and pulled hers away before taking the woman of his dreams into his arms and sealing their proposal with a kiss.
Out in the hallway, a wave of applause filled the air.
“Just think…” Anne sighed as she stood with everyone at the glass booth. “We’ve gone from the perfect mess to the perfect ending.”
“You can say that again,” Jonah remarked as he handed Frankie a pink sheet of paper. “You can see the clerk at the courthouse to pay your ticket.”
Frankie’s jaw grew slack as Jonah sauntered out of the station.
