Abandoned Darkness Page 31

by Kate Wendley

He was tired of living like this… always waiting. Waiting to kill Isaiah… but mostly waiting to lay Sonya’s memory to rest. He wasn’t sure he could do that, though. Even though Sonya was gone, she’d forever be a part of him, even after he killed her murderer.

Cory reached for a blanket while he lie on the sofa watching a movie. Ethan immediately popped up. “Are you too cold? I’ll turn the heat up.”

Cory tried to hide his irritation. “I’m fine, really. It’s ok. I’m feeling a lot better.”

Ethan knew he was being a mother hen, and it didn’t surprise anyone more than himself that he was being this way. He never coddled people, but Cory was his friend and he almost died. He’d lost enough friends over the years, and he never liked to see them go. Especially not at such a young age and in such a violent way. Yes, they led an inherently violent life, but in reality, supernaturals in Atlanta had things much easier than in other places he’d been. This was an oasis compared to the rest of the country.

He sat back down and tried to leave Cory be. He knew he still wasn’t feeling entirely better, but a few more nights rest and he’d hopefully be fine. Then again, maybe Ethan’s blood would heal him right up… and make him a lot stronger than he currently was. He’d have to think on that.

He stilled when he felt something strange. Was there a new vampire in the building? Who? He reached out with his senses but didn’t feel anyone close by besides the usual shifters in his home and the vampires in the two buildings next door. What was he feeling then?

A tiny, nagging feeling caressed his soul. It was comforting and confusing at the same time. A barely there tug for no apparent reason, but it felt like home…

Ethan’s eyes went wide as he stared in disbelief at Sonya’s memorial painting hanging above the TV, then at Cory. These weren’t his feelings, these were Isaiah’s feelings, the only vampire Ethan had ever made.

He’d finally succeeded in his attempt to reach out to him. The beckoning was working.

  “What is it, Ethan?”

He shook his head in shock, then quickly knelt beside the couch where Cory rested. He was done being squeamish about letting someone else drink from him, someone who wasn’t his lover.

He bit his wrist. “Drink. Now. You need to be stronger. Just in case. …Just in case.”

Forever searching for the elusive something or someone that could satisfy her restless vampire soul, she was ready for anything that came her way… or so she thought.   Vince grew up believing he was only part werejaguar… a hybrid. He had supernatural abilities but no cat inside him. His existence now uncovered by the community he’d been trying to hide from, his eyes are suddenly opened to everything he’d ever believed about himself, all of it a lie.

As Vince learns the truth about where he came from, he also gets blindsided with the fact that there’s no such thing as a hybrid. Something was seriously wrong with him…

Werecoyote Penny was good with computers, not men. But when hot as the sun Vince came along trying to charm his way into her heart, she wanted to believe he was different, so she did something she’d never done before… she tried her hardest to be nice. What a disaster.

  Mastering Darkness

A Forest of Darkness Novel #1

Anthony is hanging on to his humanity by his fingertips. A slip in his usual control during a gruesome task uncomfortably reminds him that the feel of his unbridled Master Vampire power is exhilarating… and freeing. But letting the cool creep of that wild, powerful energy overtake everything human about him would destroy any semblance of the life he’d built for himself, not to mention the lives of all those he protects.

A flirtatious chance meeting with a beautiful human shocks his heart into remembering sensations he thought he’d long lost the ability to experience. Oblivious to the supernatural world existing in the shadows all around her, Kaia has secrets of her own, though, like why she’s the only human living at Wild Woods, home to Anthony’s bitter foe.

As responsibilities keep Anthony tied to a life of duty and violence, time spent with Kaia gives him hope that he hasn’t yet become the monster he sees in the mirror. But is her love for real, or just a ploy to push him all the way into darkness?

  Untamed Darkness

A Forest of Darkness Novella #0.5

Helena was responsible, independent, and career minded. So she felt deep shame for her lapse in judgement her senior year in college.   Marc knew he needed to change some things in his life, but he had no idea how. He had no goals and hung out with all the wrong kinds of people. So when serious, put together Helena appeared out of nowhere, and obviously needed help containing her werewolf even though she insisted she didn’t, he found every excuse in the book to be around for her. Now if only he could find a real reason for her to need him in her life.
