  The Devil’s Three-Way

Rhiannon Carr and Donovan Mackenzie look forward to their special vacations on small ships that cruise the East Coast. On board, they study their invited choices, choosing one man to join their private world of sexual play. Their strict rules dictate that when the cruise ends, so does their threesome.

Donovan is the dominant male, the devilish side of his personality shining through. Rhiannon often lets her own devilish side filter through. Seen as angelic compared to Donovan, her kinky side for bondage needs to be satisfied occasionally. Jack Montgomery would be their perfect toy for the week.

Jack's acceptance of their attention brings out a side of his personality he's never acknowledged. After discussing the situation, they agree to offer Jack the opportunity to train with them as their submissive on a permanent basis.

Will Jack break free of his staid ways and join the couple on a journey of self-discovery?

  Chapter One

While excited about getting away, Rhiannon Carr began to have strange feelings as soon as she boarded the small yet elegant cruise ship. It wasn’t something tangible, but she felt the hairs on the back of her neck bristle. She didn’t feel fear, but, rather, excitement in some unknown adventurous way. Captain Nigel Talon was the first person she’d met. Instantly she’d known his secrets, her years of training as a profiler making him easy to read. He liked being in charge of his ship, crew, and passengers. But she also read a side of him that he kept private. While he was always available to a single woman, she’d come to learn he never made promises beyond that week’s cruise.

After being shown to her luxurious cabin, she’d unpacked, relaxed, and dressed for the cocktail party and evening meal. She hadn’t figured the vacation would have a sexual component until she met Donovan over cocktails. There was no hesitation on her part to continue their conversation over a glass of wine, even when she’d realized Donovan had arranged this vacation for her. As usual, while curious, she kept her talents and information to herself. She wanted to experience the situation unfolding before her. It would tell her a lot about his personality. She smiled, remembering the look on Donovan’s face when they danced later in the evening, Rhiannon letting him know she’d seen through his façade.

“You’re an interesting man, Mr. Mackenzie. Handsome and smart with secrets.”

“What kind of secrets do you think I have, Ms. Carr?”

“Ones you don’t let outsiders know about. How you can look at a person and understand their motives and needs. How you smile and manipulate situations to suit your needs.” He laughed but didn’t tell her she was wrong. His arm tightened around her waist, pulling her closer so she could feel his erection against her belly. He was a dangerous man in some ways, but that didn’t bother her. She was used to living life on the edge, always watching over her shoulder and ready to defend herself from harm. Until that one day when she hesitated. She shook off the memory and refused to let the past ruin her trip.

Donovan had apparently wanted her on this cruise, and here she was. She’d let his motives unfold in his time. After all, she had a week on board, and she intended to make the most of it. She relaxed her body against his, enjoying his warmth and his strong arms holding her. It had been a long time since she’d been with a man, a long time since she’d been interested. But this was her vacation. Maybe a shipboard romance was just what she needed to get herself straightened out. To figure out where her future lay, especially since she was not going back to the bureau.

Donovan was handsome beyond any man she’d ever met. He was tall, over six feet three inches, which complimented her five-foot-eight height. He was well toned and obviously worked out regularly to keep his body fit. That allowed him to eat and drink anything he wanted without thought. His hair was black with just a hint of gray around his temples. His eyes were dark, too. Not dark brown, but black. He reminded her of the actor Jon Hamm. Rhia knew he could make her heart swell when he looked at her with those black eyes, and she knew he could intimidate with them just as quickly. She figured he’d be nearing forty. She didn’t care. He was the most exciting and charismatic man she’d ever met in her life. She decided to enjoy him in all ways he was willing to please her. From his body language and conversation, he was all too willing to please her any way she asked. He made her mind spiral in directions it hadn
t before. Until now, she’d been so focused on her career. Men had been a side dish, one to be enjoyed occasionally, but never repeated. Then she met Donovan. As he eased her around the dance floor to the soft music, she began to forget the last three months and feel. Felt how her body responded to him, a total stranger. How her breasts longed for his touch. How her pussy was moist, wondering if he’d make love to her. Of course he would, if she asked. Would she ask? Could she ask for her deepest sexual needs to be met?

She was blessed with a metabolism that allowed her to indulge occasionally with only minimal exercise to keep her figure. At this time in her life, she was thin, way too thin for her height. She’d hoped to gain back a bit of the weight she’d lost during the injury and recuperation. She hadn’t considered meeting a man like Donovan. Now that she had, her anxiety about the past was filtering away, lessening with each moment he gave her his full attention.

Held close to his body as they danced, she stared at his black eyes and saw directly to his soul. At that second, she’d known he was the devil incarnate of sorts. Yet it didn’t seem to matter to her then. She’d had a close call with death and wanted to experience life. She’d known with Donovan she’d see a new side of herself she never knew could exist. His short hairstyle made her wonder what he’d look like if he let it grow longer.

When the second song began, he tightened his hold on her and continued to dance her around the small area. “Stay with me a bit longer, Rhia. I know it’s been a long time since you had a vacation.”

“I’ve been off work for almost three months,” she answered.

“Yes, I thought I recognized you when you came aboard. You were shot while arresting a murderer.” He was feeding her only bits of information. Now she’d have to dig deeper to find out just how much he knew about her and what his motives were. Maybe he was a reporter, trying to get her story for a big payday, but that didn’t feel right. Either way, he intrigued her. She felt no malice from him, only sexual tension long forgotten.

“Yes. I’m beginning to get the feeling you know a lot about me. Why?”

“You interested me. You’re a strong woman, intelligent with your special way of reading a situation and people. It’s a gift you used wisely until the incident.”

“You can say the words, Donovan. It was a shooting. Due to my previous career, I became involved in a shootout with the perpetrator, and he shot me. While I understand he’s in jail for his crimes, I’m still not free of him yet. There will be more interviews, statements, and a trial before I believe he’ll never leave that prison.” Rhia noted he didn’t question her when she said “previous career.” Nobody, not even she, had made the absolute final decision about her future. Deep down she knew she wouldn’t go back to her old job, but this was the first time she’d actually acknowledged it herself or to anyone else.

“I promise you, Rhia, he’ll never leave the prison. Yes, you’ll have to deal with the paperwork and the trial, but it will be put behind you.”

“How could you know?” She kept his gaze, watching his eyes, feeling how his body language changed with her questions. It was all too easy to let herself be carried into the sexual haze he was creating within her as they danced.

“I have a sixth sense about some things.” He’d smiled and pulled her a step closer, leaning his chin against her forehead.

“Donovan, I’m the one with the sixth sense. I’m the profiler. You, my dear man, are something totally different. While you project this relaxed appearance, your mind never stops. You know as much about a person as I do with just a look. In addition, my innate feelings are that you’re just not mortal. Somehow or somewhere, you’ve made a pact with the devil for your riches in this lifetime. I wonder what you’ll do when payment comes due.”

“We all make our pacts with whatever devil enters our life.”

“So you’re prepared to render your soul at the appointed time.”

“Maybe I already have. Maybe I’ve already paid my dues to the devil, and this life is my reward.” He grasped her tighter and dipped her low over his arm before pulling her up to his chest.

“I’d like to know what you did to receive this life as a reward.”

“Time will tell, Rhia.” He danced her toward the front railing and held her close. “What do you want from this vacation?”

“I’m not sure any more. In the beginning, it was just a vacation. Now I’ve come to realize I’m here because you arranged it. I’m not sure how yet or why, but I’m on this boat because you were interested in me.” He didn’t blush, but he did turn away, walking the rest of the way to the railing with her. “Am I wrong?”

“No. I saw the news coverage about your case. When I saw a photo of you, I decided I wanted to meet you. But, I knew you needed time to recover from the gunshot and surgery. So I waited for the right time.”

So he waited for the right time. Rhia wondered just who this man was. It was a bit frustrating that she didn’t have the luxury of knowing anything about him in advance. Later, she’d see what she could find on the Internet. For now, she’d do an in-depth, in-person interview. “What if I didn’t come?”

“I’d have figured out a new way to meet you, although you have to admit this is a lovely way to relax.”

“Lovely, yes. Predetermined by you, apparently. Why me, Donovan?”

“Beyond your beauty, you’re a strong woman with talents of your own. I know you were trained as a profiler. But the bureau never appreciated your talent beyond its own needs. You’re an intuitive woman. You can look at a person and know exactly what they’re thinking. Sometimes it helps you, and other times it hinders you.”

“How do you see it hindering me?” She was staring out at the dark seas, Donovan standing behind her, his arms resting on the railing, encircling her. He was warm and strong behind her. “I can tell when you’re in a place with too many people. It’s hard for you to close out their thoughts. You prefer smaller groups that you can arrange within your mind.” He leaned down and lightly kissed her cheek. “And I know scents give you migraines. Some perfumes and aftershave lotions send you reeling with pain.”

“That part is correct. I’m sensitive to smells and scents. And I’ve never liked big crowds.”

“Too much chatter in your mind. But over time, you’ve learned to control those external thoughts.”

“What else do you know about me?”

“I know I’m infatuated with you, mind and body.”

“For how long?” She’d glanced back to look at him for just a moment.

“For the week. I don’t make commitments beyond a week. Life gets messy and boring beyond that time frame for me.”

  “You bore easily,” she teased.

“Usually. You aren’t the normal woman I come in contact with.”

“Then let’s be blunt. You arranged all this. For me to come on this cruise, to meet you. To possibly be your object of desire for the week.” She paused and continued before she lost her nerve. “What if I wasn’t what you thought in person?” She glanced around at the other diners. “Isn’t there another woman or two you somehow convinced to take this trip, in case I turned out to be a dud?”

Donovan threw back his head and enjoyed a hearty laugh before answering. “You would have been right on previous trips. This time I only wanted you on board.”

“You were that sure of me?”

“Rhia, I was sure of you the first time I saw a film of you on the television. You were being lifted into an ambulance after the incident. You were hurt and bleeding, and yet you were joking with the EMTs. After that, I made it my mission to find out more about you. The more I learned, the more I wanted you.”

“What if I’m not interested in you?”

Again, he laughed, and his smile became a bit sly. “We’re already past that, aren’t we? You’re intrigued with me. You’re the first to be able to see through my façade, and you haven’t run away. I wasn’t sure just how powerful you were, but now I see you have an insightful powe
r.”

“That doesn’t answer my question. If I turned you down, would you use your male powers to keep me involved?”

“No, never. If a woman isn’t interested, I can walk away without a second thought. There are too many women out there who want my kind of attention.”

  “What exactly are you offering?”

“A week that you’ll never forget. Seven days and nights of all-out sex. Fucking and sucking until we’re exhausted.”

Rhia let her hand drop down and slid it behind her. She grasped his cock, felt the length and width in her hand, and knew he was right. A week of unabashed sex might just be the thing she needed before making final decisions about her future. She squeezed her fingers around him, and he surged larger. “I’ve never been good with affairs. Usually I know my partners before sleeping with them.”

“Then this will be a different experience for you. Why not see what happens? If you realize you’re not having a good time, you can always go back to your own cabin.”

“What if I like it too much?”

“Then we’ll both be tired when this cruise is over.” His laugh made her smile, just as it was meant to, relaxing her into the idea of being with him while not committing past his predetermined time frame.

“And as soon as we reach port, this is over, right? No entanglements or relationships, just sex for a week and we walk away.”

“That’s always been my way. Anything past a week and I get bored.”

“Time will tell.” She turned around and reached her arms up behind his head. “This is a small ship, Donovan. What do I need to know about the help?”
