Delilah is the cute and curvy college student who is set to be the surrogate for the football star's designer baby. As soon as Cameron sets his eyes on her, he knows she is the perfect woman for this.
The arrangement is simple, $500k and she will hand the baby over after birth with no further contact. No phone calls, no emails, no contact whatsoever.

Chapter One
He took a deep breath and looked down the field. It had been a tight game, and now his team was behind by a field goal. He had to make this pass a touchdown or they’d lose the game and the chance to go to the playoffs. No pressure.
His heart pounded heavily against his chest and drops of sweat fell from his forehead as he looked down at the grass one last time. The calls were made, the ball was thrust into his hands and he ran backward while his massive offensive line plowed the field for him.
He looked left and saw his receiver flying down the field toward the end zone. He pulled his arm back and, in his peripheral vision, saw a blur in the other team’s colors coming at him from the side.
Cameron let the ball go and a fraction of a second later the blur that was headed right for him was tackled to the ground. He stepped back out of the way, narrowly missing being steamrolled.
He looked down the field, as did most of his teammates. He saw his receiver, Aaron, leap into the air mid-run and wrap himself around the football. He landed firmly on his feet and bolted the last few yards for the end zone.
The crowd in the stadium exploded with screams and cheers as Aaron made good on the touchdown, and the game was won. The extra point that cleared was frosting on top of the cupcake.
He and his team hugged, shouted, and slammed high fives in response. Cameron was hoisted up onto their shoulders and carried a good distance before they let him back down on the ground. Cameras flashed and reporters jostled around him, trying to talk to him and steal his attention.
The touchdown he’d thrown, and the yards he’d acquired, put him in the company of some of the finest names in football history. He was already one of the best ball players in the NFL, but that game had lifted him up into the celebrity ranks of players like Joe Montana, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Dan Marino, Steve Young, Roger Staubach, Johnny Unitas and Terry Bradshaw. Impressive indeed.
He was taking his team to the playoffs again for the fourth straight year, and the Super Bowl after that. Everyone’s bet was that he’d be the MVP of the big game again. Cameron was right at the top of his game, and he just kept getting better each year.
They sang his praises calling him the Midas touch, affectionately, and Cameron, the can-do kid. No one could catch him, he was so fast. No one could tell what he’d do next. He had begun designing plays that no one had ever seen on the field before. The material focused on capitalizing on pass plays, because no one had an arm like him. He was a rocket launcher, at least that was what reporters called him in the magazines.
He was lucky to have a team that supported him and made his winning game possible. No one gets anywhere without having a good team, and he knew it. The really crazy thing was that he was so young. He had just turned twenty-five.
The locker room was loud and sweaty and smelled like men. They smiled for the cameras, gave uplifting and humble statements, and then Cameron and his crew went out for dinner to celebrate their victory.
Their fans were everywhere and even in a private room at their favorite restaurant, their servers couldn’t stop grinning at them. They were very good to their fans, and were happy to take photos with them and sign autographs. They knew they’d never be where they were if it wasn’t for the fans as well.
Cameron sat there, surrounded by four of his best friends on the team. Mikey, Cody, Josh and Aaron, his receiver, toasted each other and talked over the game for a while, enjoying their dinner and relaxing after a hard day’s work.
“Hey Mikey, I think that TV reporter likes you, bro,” Cody said with a wink.
Mikey blushed a little and laughed, shaking his head,
“Nah. She’s tiny… like a buck o’five. I’d crush her,” he said.
It was an honest statement, Mikey was one of the biggest linebackers in the NFL. He was a solid wall of impenetrable muscle.
“What about you, Cam? You could have any woman you want. Good looking guy like you… one of the best players in the league. You got your eye on anyone?” Josh asked with a grin.
Cameron looked up from his drink, smiled, and pointed at Aaron
“I never take my eyes off of Aaron. That’s why I’m doing so well. That, and I’ve got all of you! I can’t be distracted by some girl. No way. You think we’d be heading to the playoffs and the Super Bowl if I was looking for women? No chance. My mind is on the field and in the game, right where it’s supposed to be.
“I’m at the top of my game, I’m breaking records, I’m going to be the best football player there ever was. I’ve been working for that since I was a kid. Nothing’s going to get in the way of me reaching that dream, especially not some woman.
“I don’t mind them. I just don’t have any time for them. My time is dedicated to my future, to my team, and to the game.”
“We do have the off season coming up soon. You could get your head out of the game for a spring fling,” Josh said with raised eyebrows.
Aaron just watched him silently as Cameron laughed it off. He shook his head and refocused back on his drink yet again.
Cam’s got his mind on something, but it’s not women, he thought.
Cameron supportively looked up at him and smiled at his friend.
Mikey and Josh looked on caringly as well. Josh held his hand out toward Cameron, as if he awaited the answer falling into his palm.
“Well? What’s he talking about? What’s on your mind, brother?” Josh asked curiously.
Cameron was quiet for a minute, and then he looked up into the faces of his friends. Aaron already knew, but Josh and Mikey couldn’t have been more surprised by Cameron’s answer.
“I’ve just really been thinking lately that I want a kid. I lo
ok at all the success I have, the money I make, the amazing life I’m living, and I want someone to share it all with. Someone to enjoy it with me, someone to give all of it to when I’m an old man, you know?”
The guys were silent while he spoke, until Mikey said quietly,
“Cam, buddy, you’re going to have to find a girl to have a family. You’re thinking too far ahead man.”
Cameron shook his head and looked over at Aaron. He was still watching him in silence.
“Well, not really. I don’t want the hassle and expense of a relationship. I don’t want to take the time to find a girl and go through all the dating and engagement and all that. I’ve got a career to focus on. I just don’t want to do it the traditional way, but I am definitely getting serious about bringing a kid into my life.”
Josh shook his head in amazement. Mikey leaned in toward Cameron, resting his elbows on the table.
“So what are you thinking? Are you going to adopt a kid or something? Adoption is cool, man. Give some poor kid a good home.”
Cameron shook his head.
“No, I want one of my own. I want a son. I want someone with my bloodline, hopefully some of my talent, you know…. so he can follow in my footsteps and take after his old man someday. Carry on the tradition and the name I make. Father and son hall-of-famers. Something like that. You know… I could teach him how to play football. Raise a mini-me. I just really want a son.”
Mikey rubbed his hand over his chin for a moment and then looked back at Cameron.
“You going to get a surrogate mother or something like that? How are you going to do that without a girl?” he asked.
Cameron looked at his friends again and leaned in close to them.
“Well, there’s this place… this clinic, and they can make designer babies. You can choose the gender of your kid, they examine the embryos to make sure there’s no chance of a genetic disorder or any health problems. You pretty much make the kid to order, and it’s genetically yours.”
Josh’s eyes were wide.
“You can choose the gender of your kid?”
Cameron nodded slowly.
“Yeah, it’s pretty amazing. You can pretty much make your kid any way you want them to be.”
“Wow.” Mikey sat back against the seat and looked at him.
“That’s huge, dude. That’s… how are you going to raise a kid? You’re a busy guy,” he added.
“My mom and my sister will be around to help me. I’ve talked with them about it and they’re all for it. Especially my mom. She’s really excited about it.”
Josh sat looking at him and his skepticism began to shift to craftiness.
“You know what you need to do,” he said,
leaning forward and lowering his voice conspiratorially,
“you need to find a woman who is African American to have this kid for you.”
Aaron, Cameron, and Mikey, all three, looked at him in surprise. Cameron was a blue-eyed, white boy with golden blonde hair.
“Say what?” Aaron’s face twisted in amazement.
“No, seriously, hear me out.” Josh said.
They hovered in closer to him.
“Most of the best players in physical sports are African American. Think about it… all the football players, the baseball players, the basketball players, Shaquille O’Neal, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar? Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, me …even Tiger Woods,” He chuckled to himself.
“Most of the best players out there are not white, and it’s not by coincidence. That’s genetics, my brother, it’s all natural. If you have an African American woman carry your kid, coupled with your genes, your talent, and then raise that kid to play football…it would be like making a sports god. Think of it! It would be perfect!”
Aaron, Cameron and Mikey looked like an epiphany had hit them squarely on the head. Mikey nodded and smiled.
“You know what, I think you’re on to something, Josh… think of Mohammed Ali. Magic Johnson. Jackie Robinson. Michael Jordan.”
Aaron nodded his head. Getting interested in the idea he said,
“You’re right! Jesse Owens, LeBron James, Hank Aaron, Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry Rice, Deion Sanders, Emmitt Smith, Barry Bonds, Venus and Serena Williams.”
Mikey elbowed Aaron.
“Venus and Serena are girls!”
Aaron leaned back and lowered his brow at Mikey.
“So what? They’re African American and they are two of the best sports players out there. The point isn’t gender, the point is race.”
Josh grinned and nodded at Cameron.
“Your talent mixed with the natural genetics of an African American woman, shear excellence. Not to mention the fact that that boy would grow up in the NFL.
“That boy would grow up on the sidelines and the football field around some of the greatest players in the game. Can you imagine it? Learning to toss a football with the Mannings or any of the guys we know? The coaches?
“Growing up around all of that, all the time… man, that kid would have it made. The colleges would be waiting for him to get out of high school, then the NFL would be ready to pounce on him, too. Brother, you’d have a little star on your hands, right from the first day.”
Aaron made a solid point.
“She’s got to be really smart, though, the woman that you wind up finding for this. A college woman. Big brains. You want her giving that high IQ to your son.”
“She should be beautiful, too, Cam” Josh added.
“Really smart, really beautiful, and completely healthy.”
Mikey chipped in,
“She can’t be crazy either. Some of the women out there are just nuts. Make sure she’s sane, Cam.”
Josh smiled with a dreamy look in his eye.
“The perfect woman. One who’s got it all.”
All four of them were considering the idea of Cameron having a genetically enhanced baby boy, and all three of Cameron’s friends were growing keen on the concept. Mikey leaned back with a grin.
“I’d be Uncle Mikey! I like this idea.”
Aaron took a drink and set his glass back down.
“So you’d be doing this at the beginning of the off season?”
The side of Cameron’s mouth tilted up slightly.
“Well, actually, I was hoping to have my agent, Jim, screen some women open to surrogacy for me, to kind of get it narrowed down so we can find the right one.
“We find the one best suited biologically for me, and make sure she’s healthy and that her family has a clear health history, then we have to work out contracts and pay her, and we keep it hushed up and away from the press as long as we can.
“I don’t need opinions from the peanut gallery about the personal choices I make in my life.”
He rolled his eyes and sighed, but then a smile spread across his face and his eyes lit up.
“Then I have my son, and she’s out of the picture, paid off, and I can raise him. That’s the plan.”
The men around him smiled in agreement.
“That’s a good plan, brother,” Aaron said.
He lifted his glass and toasted Cameron. The others followed suit accordingly.
“Amen to that,” Josh said and Mikey agreed with him.
In the days that followed, Cameron focused all of his time and energy on the games ahead. He was strict with his diet, his workout routines, his sleeping schedule, his training and practices with his team.
The one single thing he did apart from all of that, was to ask his agent, Jim, to help him by screening women to get his choices narrowed down so that he could choose one to carry his child for him. His agent did not like the idea, and his coach liked it even less, but Jim got to work on it, and Cameron turned his focus to the team and the field.
Cameron and his teammates blazed through the playoffs with flying colors, fans screaming and cheering, cameras rolling and flashing like fireworks. Cameron continued his record-breaking streak, racking up huge numbers in every category from yards
to touchdowns, shining brighter all the time.
They headed to the Super Bowl, and when Cameron asked Jim for an update on screening women, Jim only told him he was working on it and that he didn’t need to worry about it. Jim and the team’s coach, John, wanted to help Cameron keep his focus where it should be at that time.
The Super Bowl turned into one of the best games that Cameron and his team ever played, and it went down as one of the most significant games in the history of the sport. When the confetti finally fell over the field, raining red and gold on the can-do kid with the rocket launcher arm and his teammates, Cameron was becoming a legend.
