Honey wiped away the last of her tears. “Your bad past is over, Gideon. And in case you hadn’t noticed, mister, your small farm takes up better than half the county. Most of those grange members are your tenants, and they’re going to be worrying about your opinion of them.”
He tipped her chin up, grinning as he gazed into her eyes. “Hell, bright eyes. You mean I wasted all those years robbing banks and trains when all I had to do was marry a rich girl?”
“Well, if you get bored with farming, Gideon, we can always raise our own outlaw gang. Do you think half a dozen would be enough?”
“That might take a while, Ed, honey,” he said, his brow furrowing in mock solemnity. “Take a lot of loving, too.”
Honey grinned as she snuggled close. “In that case, I say the hell with the farm. Let’s just have us a whole dozen little desperadoes.”
