Reconstruct Me (Breakneck Book 5) Page 16

  “Oh my god!”

  I whirl around.

  “Pyro…”

“I did good, yeah?” I ask walking up to her.

Shortcakes blue eyes water and she chokes back a sob. “I love you.”

I tilt her chin up. “I love you, too. So. Fuckin’. Much.”

  And it’s true.

  This is what love is.

When you want to make your person happy, no matter what.

When their every breath is your own.

“I’m taken the romance out of this. I gotta pee so bad.”

I shake my head, she’s so fucking cute. “C’mon darlin’, follow me.” It’s a good thing I studied the photos of this place online, Jinx would probably piss herself if not.

When she’s in the bathroom I carry our bags in.

We didn’t have to worry about stopping for groceries, with Jinx’s leg, I paid more for a fully stocked kitchen.

I’m fucking drained by the time I get the bags in the master suite, and unpack her pills, but I have something I want to do before we go to bed. We’ve already ate on the road, and I know once she takes her meds, she’ll be ready for bed too. I shrug out of my cut and hang it on the back of a chair in the corner of the room.

I go to the kitchen, open the fridge, grab two bottles of water, head back to the room and set them on the bedside table next to her pills.

“Pyro,” she calls from the hallway.

“Second door on your right,” I call back.

It’s hard not to help her, but she insists on getting around on her own.

When she inches her way inside the room and gets a look at the plush bed, the exhaustion on her face shows. I rub my sweaty palms on my pants, nervous as fuck.

  “Sit down babe.”

She crutches her way over to the bed and plops down, tossing her crutches to the floor. “I freaking hate those things.”

I can’t even laugh because I’m nervous as shit.

  “Pyro, you’re pale.”

  Damnit!

“I’m nervous.” I admit to her as I crouch down in front of her.

  “Why?”

  Gut up, Pyro!

“Jinx, you’ve been through hell, baby.”

She runs her fingers through my hair and I almost close my eyes because I fucking love when she does that. “It was worth it.”

She rips my guts out when she says shit like that.

I look up into her eyes, my own eyes clouding over. “I love you.”

Her fingers stop moving in my hair. “I love you, too, where’s your cut?”

“I wanted to ask you somethin’ as a man and not a brother,” I say with a gulp. “Shit. I’m fuckin’ this all up,” I say with a shake of my head. “We haven’t gone to bed together and I’m not sayin’ we will on this trip, but just in case…” I reach into my pocket and grab the ring without taking my eyes off her, and when it’s out, her fingers drop from my hair. “I want you to know, I know how precious you are, and I care about what happened to you, your strength and survival are one of the many things I love about you.” I choke out.

  “Pyro,” she sobs.

“You make me feel as if I matter, like I’m in actual person. You’re my soulmate” I take a breath through my tears. “I will erase everything that was done to you; every time I touch you, every time I kiss you, every time we make love, I’ll cherish you like you deserve. I will love you forever, marry me?”

Jinx’s left hand shakes as she puts it in front of me. “Yes.”

I put the ring on her finger, tears dripping down my face as I lean up and kiss her.

“Take me to bed, Ice,” she murmurs against my lips and I pull back. “That’s not why I proposed.” I laugh through my happiness.

Jinx scoots back on the bed and I help get her splinted leg up. “I’m gonna be your wife, I’ve gotta know what I’m buying.”

  The little shit!

I smirk, pull her sandals off, and motion for her to lift her dress. “My devotion.”

I kick off my boots and undress while never taking my eyes off my beautiful soon-to-be wife.

She tosses her dress to the floor and shimmies out of her bra. “No panties?” I growl.

  “Nope.”

“Shortcake,” I sigh climbing onto the bed, mindful of her leg, and I drop a kiss to the scar on her stomach.

“I’m okay,” she whispers, running her nails down my back. “I’m still here.”

  “I know,” I say with a shiver.

  I’m fucking crying again!

  “Come here.”

I lift my head from her stomach and crawl up, not caring if she sees my tears or not. I hiss when one of her hands wrap around my hard cock. “It’s okay,” she whispers as she guides me into her sweet heat. “Give me your hand,” she instructs and laces one of my hands with one of hers and puts them on the pillow beside her head. “Eyes on mine.”

I gulp with a nod when her freehand moves to my hip and she squeezes for me to move. I groan with the first pump. “Fuck.” It’s better than I ever imagined, her trusting blue eyes devouring my soul as I move in and out, her fingernails digging into my hip, its all too much. I bring my lips to hers. “Fire,” I breathe into her mouth. “I love you.” She gasps against my lips, her walls tightening around my cock. “I love you, Ice.”

I pull back, wanting to see her face as we come together. “Now,” I growl, and she nods releasing a shaky breath. “Oh, god,” she moans through her tears and that’s all I can handle, I come so hard, my knees shake, and I squeeze her hand.

I don’t pull out, I collapse on her gently, her fingernails still digging into my hip.

I lick one of her tits and she giggles. “I didn’t wear a condom,” I whisper, blowing on her nipple.

“I’m gonna be your wife,” she whispers the simplest response.

I tear myself away from her beautiful titties and lean up on an elbow. “You’re gonna be my wife.”

I’m gonna be a husband and I might have put a baby in my woman’s belly.

I never thought I’d have this.

  This contentment.

I’m not just a brother anymore.

I finally have a fucking purpose.

I dare someone to try and fucking take this away from me.
