The Fake Mind (Time Alchemist) Page 14

by Allice Revelle

Things haven’t been so well between us, not after what I did to Leon. She had remained distant, but polite, and I refused to push her, lucky enough to still have her in my life, you know? I wasn’t surprised, honestly, the morning after I had given Leon Guinevere’s journal that they came to my door, said goodbye, and left.

I hadn’t seen them sense, but this was the second letter I had gotten from her. I was glad she was still trying to keep in touch. I missed her so much. Dove was my best friend, almost like a sister to me, and I hoped I would be able to mend our broken relationship again soon.

I folded the note when another small scrap of paper fell out, landing at my feet.

It was a note from Leon.

  To Emery,

It’s strange to give this note to you…when I don’t’ even remember you. But your words continue to inspire me every day. Whatever I did for you, I

want to live up to it and become a better person.

I hope this doesn’t sound weird (and believe me it will) but lately I’ve been seeing you a lot in my dreams. I don’t know what sort of bond we shared before my amnesia happened, but I think you came into my life for a reason.

I think maybe you’re my guardian angel.

Best of luck in life. And thank you.

  -Leon

I let out a small laugh, feeling a tear leak down my cheek. I didn’t’

bother to wipe it away, even after it landed on Leon’s written note.

That’s right. Even though he and Dove…and Chrys and Ru, Oliver and Rick…they were away, in my heart, they would always remain close.

I would never regret any of the decisions I’ve made. But I won’t live in fear anymore. I’ll become a better, stronger person. For them.

  And for me.

  AUTHOR NOTES and

  ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

It feels as if there is so much to say. Where do I even begin? How many people will even get this far? That’s a mystery! But if you have made it this far: thank you. Really, you don’t know how much it means to a budding author…or any writer! I truly appreciate all comments, all likes, all stars, and all the encouragements.

Writing this book—this series—has been really tough. But when I started writing, when I first completed “The Fake Heart”, it really opened my eyes. Even if it’s only a glimpse, I can really feel how much heart goes into a book. I felt as if I’ve gained a whole new respect for authors, and every time I pick up a book now I can only be grateful to be able to read their stories and their souls.

Emery’s journey has come to an end. Five years later and four books, its over. I’m very sad, but at the same time I’m proud. Proud, because I took the guts and the heartache to force myself to finish, even when there were so many moments I wanted to give up. Sad, because, like any book or series, everything must come to an end.

Emery and her friends are so special to me. If she were a real person I’d want to hug her to death and shake her hand, and tell her,

“Thank you”, and “Good luck”. Emery may not have gotten the perfect ending she wished for, but she’s moving on with her head and heart held high.

Thank you, Emery. For all these wonderful memories.

And also huge, huge thanks to all my family. Especially my mother, Michelle, who has constantly encouraged and pushed me to continue writing, who always listens to me rattle on about books and helps with my stories and ideas.

A huge thanks to my awesome girl friends: Rebekah and Brittany.

Just for being my friends, even after all these years.

A special thanks to Ashley from NZ (see, I got it right this time!) who I’ve messaged constantly and we just gossip about all the books and all the sweets to eat! Thanks for your awesome encouragement!

And lastly, to you, the reader, who has walked along side Emery and her adventures. Thank you.
