“I’ll tell you as soon as Mike and Lane join,” Clay said.
The computer chimed again, and Lane joined, followed closely by Mike. “Dudes, what’s up?” Lane asked.
“Hey, it’s good to see you all,” Mike said.
“We’re going up to Virginia next week to bring my stuff here,” Clay said.
Thomas liked the smiles the guys were showing. They were happy for him and Clay.
“You decide to move in permanently?” Jake asked.
“Yeah. So about that. A couple of guys from the department where I worked tried to kill me and Thomas the other day,” Clay said.
A collective “What?” mixed in with a good deal of “no fucking way” went out from the group.”
Clay leaned in close and kissed Thomas’ cheek. “Thomas saved me.”
“What happened?” Mike asked.
Thomas listened as Clay told their story, realizing how lucky they were to have survived. He turned and kissed the side of Clay’s head. They had the best group of friends, and he had his life partner. Life really was good.
After Clay finished his story, and the guys voiced their concern and relief they had survived, Mike cleared his throat.
“Um, I’m moving to Jersey.”
“Wait, doesn’t Lane live close?” Jake asked.
“Yeah, he does,” Mike said.
“Cool,” Brent said. “By the way, we’re looking at houses in Florida.”
“You’re coming back? That’s awesome,” Thomas said. He would love having the guys nearby. Now all they needed was Lane and Mike to move here. He was happy Mike and Lane would be living close to each other, even if they weren’t in Daytona.
They talked about Mike’s move, though he wasn’t very forthcoming. Brent and Jake shared a little about their house hunting. Life was looking better. They mentioned planning a vacation, but he wasn’t sure when or where they would go.
After an hour, they ended the connection, and he led Clay out to the hot tub. It was fast becoming their favorite pre-sex make out location. When he built out his back yard, he’d had no clue it would be shared by such an awesome man. Now that Clay was living with him, he had exactly the life he wanted.
Clay stopped before they got into the hot tub and held Thomas’ face in his hands, his gaze steady. “You make my life better. I’m glad I took a chance and kissed you.”
“I thought I was the one who kissed you first.”
He smoothed his hand over Thomas’ chest. “Doesn’t matter, as long as you’re the one who kisses me every night.”
Thomas chuckled and leaned in, brushing his lips over Clay’s. “No problem there. I’ll gladly kiss you every morning and every night.”
They came together, their bodies heating in the Florida warmth. He had everything he’d ever wanted. A great job, a nice home, and a wonderful man to share his life with. Clay had brought so much happiness to his life, and now, he would make sure Clay found happiness too.
The End
About the Author
I don’t know what I’m doing writing a book, but this is the second one. I hope you enjoyed Falling In. It’s been fun.
What about me? I’m boring. I read a lot, but I don’t really do much else. I do like to people watch. People are funny. They do silly things. I once watched a guy walk from a store to a kiosk in the mall then back to the store and back to the kiosk. He did it four times before he finally left the area. Why? These are the things I wonder about.
