Jacen nodded in agreement and Kayne found them both so adorable. Before he could ask any more questions, the buzzer on the oven sounded. Jacen and Macen packed up their notes and set the table for dinner.
"Can you grab the casserole out of the oven and sit it on the board?" Jacen asked him in passing.
"Sure thing, love." By the time he'd done his bit, the table was set and his family was waiting. Carefully he removed the lid and placed it out of harm's way then he used the spoon provided to ladle out beef casserole onto everyone's plates. His stomach rumbled loudly in appreciation, which sent Macen into a fit of the giggles.
Every night now he and Jacen spent time with Macen talking, or more so letting Macen ramble on. The time was both relaxing and informational. It was during these talks Jacen would coax Macen's feelings out about whatever had been going on in the kid's day. He'd always thought his son was quiet, but being here was proving otherwise.
After Mace went to bed, he and Jacen spent quality time sharing what had happened in their days. Tonight was more on Jacen's store.
"I've got the lawyer looking at the paperwork on premises in Toowoomba. The shopfront is on the bottom floor of the Grand Central shopping mall. The numbers are showing it to be the best spot to open and the rent isn't too bad." Jacen rubbed the side of his neck and Kayne was fast coming to learn this was a sign of stress for Jacen.
"Is the location good for you?" he asked. Kayne needed to find out what was running through Jacen's mind. He reached out and grabbed a hold of Jacen's hand, giving it a squeeze of support. "Any more thoughts on the storage situation?"
Jacen nodded. "Yeah, I think you might be right. If I build a shed in the yard, then it will cut time if I need to restock the shop of a morning. Sammy said he'd take me around the car lots so I can buy a commercial van to carry loads when needed." Jacen exhaled loudly. "It's all freaking me out a tad. In Melbourne, this was just a dream. Here it's becoming a reality. What happens if I totally suck at this sort of thing?"
"I honestly don't think you'll suck." Again he gave Jacen's hand a slight squeeze. "You know what you're doing. You told me you've been researching this opportunity for nearly a year. You have all the facts and the knowhow to make this shop a screaming success."
"You always know exactly what to say to make me feel better."
A glow of warmth filled Kayne. He loved he could affect Jacen so much, and the feeling was absolutely mutual. Jacen was the only person, beside his son, who made Kayne believe he mattered.
Taking a deep breath, Jacen continued. "Dad said he's willing to look over shed designs with me. I know I really only need you, but I didn't know how to explain it to Dad so he didn't get his feelings hurt."
"I think your dad's just happy you're back home in Queensland. He might never have said so out loud, but I knew how much he missed you while you were gone. We all did. I just wish I…"
"Shh." Jacen leant forward and placed a kiss on Kayne's lips. "Don't dwell on what ifs. We need to stay focused in the right now so our future is built on a rock steady foundation."
Jacen placed more kisses on his mouth and Kayne willingly opened for each and every one. Without even thinking about it too much, Kayne tugged until Jacen was all but sitting in his lap. He knew they couldn't go much further out here in case Macen woke up, but right now he needed more…of everything.
"Kayne," Jacen murmured huskily into his mouth.
Carefully getting to his feet Kayne lifted Jacen up until his lover's legs were wrapped around his waist to keep him in place. Kayne's dick was so hard that he was sure he'd be left with bruises from the pressure of it being confined in his jeans. The sooner he was out of them, the better. Actually the sooner they were both naked, the better Kayne would feel.
When Jacen nibbled on his neck, Kayne started to recite his multiplications just to stop himself from creaming his jeans and ending the fun before it had even started. It wasn't helping as Jacen was whispering dirty words into his ear about blowjobs, rimming, and fucking till they saw stars. Kayne could only say, "Yes, please." He loved it when Jacen took his body on a journey of sensory overload.
His hole throbbed with the need to be filled, and Jacen excelled at doing exactly what he needed. Somehow his lover always dragged every little emotion possible from Kayne's body and showed him pleasure that he never even knew existed.
"Gonna fuck you good, sexy." Jacen bit his earlobe. "Is that what you want?"
The second they were through the bedroom door and it was closed, Jacen slid down his body, rubbing deliciously in all the right places. Kayne stripped faster than the speed of sound. His whole body ached with the need to be fucked senseless. In a matter of seconds he was kneeling on the bed with his arse hiked in Jacen's general direction. A whimper fell from his lips when Jacen palmed the cheeks of his arse and a moist heat covered his puckered opening. What Jacen was doing right now had Kayne vibrating with need. He was absolutely addicted to Jacen rimming him, and Jacen seemed to love doing it.
"Feels so good." Kayne grunted as Jacen cupped, then rolled, his balls. Even though he hated thinking of Jacen doing this with anyone else, he was grateful at least one of them knew what they were doing when it came to sex. And boy did Jacen know how to make Kayne's body sing with desire.
"Gonna fill you up. Gonna make you heat up from the inside out."
The way Jacen was talking scrambled Kayne's brain. His body already was at the point where Kayne was sure it was about to burst into flame. Jacen's touch rolled over Kayne in endless waves of pleasure. If Jacen kept going, Kayne was going to be finished before Jacen even had the chance to shove his cock into Kayne's arse. Kayne wanted to yell at Jacen to hurry the fuck up and get on with it, but he knew Jacen needed this sense of being in control; something he believed Jacen didn't get with George. George didn't seem to be the type of person to give too much thought to the wants of others. Mentally bitch-slapping himself, Kayne shoved all thoughts of George out of his head. That fucker had no place in his mind at all. As Jace said, the wanker wasn't worth it.
He pushed back into Jacen's touch as he felt his body being breached when Jacen began stretching him. This was something else Jacen proved he was very good at. Right now, Kayne's body was zinging all over the place. It felt like every hair on his body was standing on end. Kayne didn't want to speak and break the spell, yet he couldn't help but whimper at the loss of Jacen's fingers moving inside him. The only thing stopping him from demanding Jacen put them back was knowing what was going to replace them.
"You look so sexy kneeling there all flushed before me." Jacen's voice sounded as strained as Kayne himself was feeling.
He bit his lip to keep from thrusting back as Jacen entered his body once more. Hell, he hadn't even realised Jacen had put the condom on until Jacen was pushing inside of him. Time was acting like a strobe light where only bits and pieces were displayed.
"Harder." Kayne's balls drew up tight against his body as Jace began the brutal pace to get them both off. His lover must be as close to the edge as he was. The sound of skin slapping skin filled the room and Kayne revelled in the noise. His panting moans kept time with Jacen's rhythm. By the time Jacen reached around and grabbed Kayne's cock, Kayne didn't know how much longer he was going to last. Pushing back toward Jacen and thrusting into his lover's tight grip felt so fucking good. His insides screamed in a frenzy with the need to come. The way his orgasm raced through his body, Kayne knew it wasn't going to take long.
"Jacen." Kayne shouted into the room as his cum splattered onto the bed below him.
Jacen let go of his cock as he gripped tight to Kayne's hips and rode him to completion. Kayne's whole body quivered as Jacen cock pulsed inside of him. Kayne squeezed his muscles as hard as he could, smiling inside as he dragged Jacen into his own orgasm.
God he loved this man—his man.
CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Jacen knew having a barbie so close to the wedding probably wasn't his smartest move. He'd just wanted to say thank you t
o everyone for what they had done to help after his house had been vandalised, and he also wanted to give Sammy and Nancy a day to rest, seeing how busy they'd both been with the wedding preparations. He had to hand it to the pair. Things were coming together nicely and, fingers crossed, the day would go off without a hitch.
All morning he and Macen had made salads, as well as getting everything looking perfect. Kayne's job was to prep the barbeque and make sure they had enough drinks in stock. Outside, Kayne was singing along to the songs on the stereo as he cleaned off the back veranda and made sure the outdoor setting was wiped down and ready to use. Every now and again he would stop and talk to Squirt. The whole day was starting to feel so domesticated.
"Honey." Kayne stuck his head in through the open back door and asked, "Do you want me to set up the drink tubs on the veranda or in the laundry?"
"The veranda, just make sure it's out of the way. We don't want anyone tripping over it."
"And up off the ground or Squirt will try and eat all the ice again." Macen laughed out loud. "Remember when she knocked over the one at Mum's party and she got so mad at us because we let Squirt off the chain."
Jacen loved seeing Macen happy. "What happened?"
"After she stopped yelling at us in front of everyone, one of her friends told her he was the one who'd freed Squirt." Kayne rolled his eyes as he continued. "It didn't matter to Teag. Macen and I should have stood guard in case anything ruined her day. To tell the truth I can't even remember what the party was for."
"Uncle Chris's birthday."
Jacen knew he wore a look of surprise on his face. "You threw Chris a birthday party?"
"No, Teag threw the party." He shook his head a little. "I guess we know why now."
"Okay, time to change the subject. I won't let the past ruin what we have going today. Today is a time to celebrate the here and now and the future we are aiming for," Jacen stated. Lifting his glass, he raised it into the air. "To our family, to Kayne, to Jacen, to Macen, and to Squirt. May all our days ahead get better and better and all our troubles stay behind us in the past where they belong."
Okay, so they only had juice in their cups but it was still nice to have this special moment with his family. No sooner had they all started working again when Jacen heard Squirt barking up a storm and the sound of Micah telling her to shut up. He grinned when he then heard Sammy telling Micah to keep quiet, as this wasn't his house and Micah wasn't king of the castle.
"You tell him, hon." Nancy chimed in as she walked through the door, which meant Jacen's dad wasn't far behind. Jacen had been so happy the day Nancy had walked into their dad's life six years ago. She had accepted him and Micah with open arms and a heart to match. His dad had been lonely for a very long time and he deserved any happiness coming his way. Jacen wished for exactly the same thing.
Things were starting to calm down, but in the last two weeks Teagan had been ringing up, demanding equal time with Macen. Then, when Kayne had agreed, she hadn't even bothered turning up. Macen had never said anything, but Jacen knew it had to have hurt. The next time she'd rung, she'd wanted Macen back then in the next breath had changed her mind. Jacen knew Kayne had already contacted his lawyers and was playing nice until he knew exactly where he stood in the matter. The last time she had rung had been earlier this morning when she'd demanded that Kayne and Macen move out as she didn't want Macen being subjected to Jacen's deviant behaviour. Kayne had calmly and politely told her to go to hell, and had then turned off his cell phone and put it into his sock drawer.
Nancy walked in carrying a huge pavlova and got Macen to make room on the counter for her to place it. She had to scold the boy as he stuck his finger in the cream and licked it clean. "I'll have to make room in the fridge or the pav's going to be a pile of goo by the time we get around to eating it."
Nancy wasn't a person he'd ever pictured his dad with. His dad was kind of set in his ways. It'd been the same way since Jacen was young. His dad worked, then puttered around the house, slept and then went back to work. His regimen kept food on their table and clothes on their backs, even if their dad didn't have a lot of time to spend with them as they'd grown up. Jacen had never minded because he'd always had Micah to look after him. He knew his dad loved him. He never doubted his father's love for a minute. There had been more than one woman in his father's life who had made a quick exit once they voiced their opinions on his son's lifestyle. Nancy, on the other hand, had walked into his father's life six years ago and seemed to be his total opposite. She was of Islander descent and her skin was the colour of a rich dark chocolate. Her hair was tightly curled and her brown eyes were almost black. And the thing most different from his father was Nancy was so carefree that she would have been considered by most to be a hippy. The best part was Nancy loved his father and didn't mind showing it to everyone she could. It didn't matter to her that he and Micah were gay—though she did still say she was waiting for grandbabies to spoil. Macen was soaking up all of her attention like a sponge.
She treated all of their homes like her own and made herself useful in every way possible. Each time she came to visit she brought another little knick-knack for the house. Most were for Macen's room, which made the boy as happy as all get-go. Today she'd given him the next book in the series he was reading. The squeal of delight was almost deafening. Turning his begging gaze toward Jacen, all he could do was nod as Macen took off toward the lounge room to settle in and get a couple of chapters read before they had to eat.
"You're gonna spoil him rotten," Jacen gently chastised.
Nancy in return just shrugged. "He's my grandbaby and he deserves to be spoilt every now and again. Between me and Kaye, I think we have everything under control. No need for you to worry your pretty little head about it, okay? Glad we have the problem sorted." She flashed him a brilliant smile.
He knew that since Teagan was out of the picture, Kaye Henderson had become more hands-on in the grandmother department. She'd explained that once upon a time Teagan wouldn't allow Kaye and Frank into her house. Teagan had also discouraged Kayne from socialising with his parents. Kayne hadn't listened to her, of course. Kayne had told Jacen that Macen couldn't receive gifts from his grandparents. Somehow they all disappeared, never to be seen again, all of which made Jacen believe that Teagan was an even bigger bitch than he had first assumed. Actually he was glad he'd never really had anything to do with the woman. Whenever he'd been home for a visit, she'd never been around, and he hadn't minded at all. It just meant he could ogle Kayne to his heart's content—as long as George didn't see him or then there would be hell to pay.
They were interrupted when Kaye walked in, her hands full of food. Jacen shook his head. He'd told everyone not to bring anything and did they listen? No. He'd wait until after the parents left then force half the leftovers onto Sammy and Micah.
"Kayne has just lit the grill, so he'll be in to get the meat."
"Oh good, then I can pull it out of the fridge to make room for the pav," Nancy said as she starting getting things organised. Instead of placing the tray piled high with meat down, she carried it right out to Kayne. Seconds later Micah came in grumbling about having to get the oil and cooking utensils. "Stop complaining," Nancy said as she followed him in. "If you want to eat, you have to help. You know the rules."
Micah frowned. "Then why doesn't Sammy have to help?"
Even Jacen knew the answer to his brother's idiotic question.
"Because Sammy's busted his arse getting this wedding organised. This party was to give him and Nancy a break and time to relax for a moment."
"Yeah, okay, it makes sense now," Micah said sheepishly as he got the things he was sent in for.
"You better treat your man right, or he'll walk away from you for greener pastures," Kaye said.
Micah chuckled. "Sammy loves me. He'd never leave. It took me too long to get him into my life to lose him now."
"Best thing to ever happen to you," Nancy added.
"Micah, you ge
t lost in there?" Kayne yelled from the veranda.
Micah rolled his eyes. "Is he always this bossy?"
"Kayne isn't bossy. He's perfect," Jacen countered. "Well, he's perfect for me."
"Yes he is, little brother." Micah patted his shoulder in passing.
By the time Jacen and the ladies made it outside, Macen was giving Frank and Desmond a tour of the spots he'd picked out for the veggie patch. Even though he couldn't hear what was being said, he knew Macen was giving both grandfathers an in-depth lecture on what was and wasn't needed. He couldn't help but smile as Frank and Desmond asked questions as they went.
"Down, beast," Kayne said as Squirt sat beside him at the grill.
"You've been feeding her again, haven't you?" Jacen asked and even as Kayne tried to deny it, the pink flush covering his skin gave him away.
Micah nodded. "It's a wonder Squirt isn't as fat as a house."
"She's my good girl."
"Dad, stop feeding Squirt. Remember the vet said you'll make her fat," Macen said as he led Frank and Desmond back towards the veranda where the rest of them sat.
Jacen began to softly laugh as Kayne glared at his son. Soon everyone was laughing right along with him when Kayne said, "It was only a little bit."
* * * *
The day wore on, and as their guests were leaving, Jacen realised he was happy—happier than he'd ever been in his life. He still wasn't sure how he was lucky enough to have his childhood dreams become a reality. As much as he'd always wanted Kayne, he'd never in a million years ever acted on the fact. Jacen had always set Kayne upon the pedestal he judged all other men by, not once believing Kayne Henderson was within his reach.
His gaze drifted over the room and settled on Sammy, who was currently snuggled up against his brother's side. Sammy and Micah were perfect together, like two puzzle pieces that fit together perfectly. Since leaving George, Jacen had wanted what he brother had. He wanted to belong so perfectly to someone that there was no telling where one ended and the other began.
