Brick: An Urban Paranormal

“He doesn’t have a little cousin named, Tae-Tae?” she asked, and I rolled my eyes.

“I don’t know yet. We can hang out tonight for sure. I need to get away from him,” I said.

We talked for a few minutes until we hung up. I cooked Brick a big breakfast. I prepared fried ham, scrambled eggs, French toast, fried potatoes, grits, and bacon. It actually felt good cooking for a man. A man with a big appetite. It was a long time since I cooked for someone other than myself.

“Breakfast is ready!” I called out.

“Bring it to my office!” he yelled back.

“We eat at the table!” I replied.

He came into the kitchen and sat down at the table.

“This reminds me of the feasts we have on my planet,” he said.

“Dig in and tell me what you think,” I said. His food was gone before I could blink.

  “WHOA!” I said.

He reached for more and I smacked his hand with a spatula.

  “Table manners please,” I said.

“I’m in the military with a bunch of men like myself. We don’t have manners when we eat, and I thought I proved that to you in the shower yesterday,” he said. I didn’t want to blush, but I did anyway. I sat across from him and fixed him another plate before I fixed mine. I cooked a lot of food, and he ate all of it. I gave him the rest of my food because I was stuffed.

“You eat like twenty men,” I said.

“I don’t get full,” he replied.

“How old are you in immortal life?” I asked Brick.

“Eleven,” he replied. My apple juice went down the wrong pipe, and I choked. I let him do things to me with his tongue that could've put me in jail for rape.

  “Come again?” I asked.

“I’m one-hundred and thirteen years old. I get a year older every eleven years,” he said.

“So, you should look younger?” I asked.

“Naw, we grow fast after we are born. I was a man before I turned one,” he replied.

“How old are supposed to be on Earth?” I asked.

“Twenty-two according to my dental records,” he said.

“You have legal documents?” I asked.

“It’s a long story, but it’s all in what you know,” he said. He didn’t like to talk much about his personal life, but he was always butting into mine.

“Do you any have kids?” I asked.

“As in impregnating a female?” he asked.

“Yes. I thought maybe you reproduce every week or so like insects,” I said.

“I like that one, but no critters from me,” he said.

“It’s time for me to go. I’m going out with, Risha, tonight,” I said.

“I have a Tahoe in the back of my house. You can take it if you want to. It’s the least I can do since I totaled your already totaled car,” he said with a sly smirk.

“Are you giving me a truck?” I asked.

“I’m not a vehicle person. I rather fly, but to fit in with the humans, I drive sometimes. Follow me,” he said. I followed him out of the back door, and behind the house was a new Tahoe truck. It was all white with tan leather seats.

“Are you serious? I haven’t had a new vehicle in…hell, I never had a new vehicle,” I said.

“Glad I could help,” he said. He gave me the keys, and I was ready to go. I couldn’t wait to get home to get my thoughts together. It was impossible to think with Brick around.

“I will see you tomorrow,” he said.

  “Okay thanks again,” I replied.

Brick wasn’t exaggerating when he said the truck was brand new. It only had eighteen miles on it. I couldn’t wait to push the bad boy on the road. It was fully loaded and had a navigation system which I wasn’t familiar with. My old car barely had a radio, so I didn’t know how to operate the system. I looked in my rearview mirror as I pulled off, but Brick was already inside of his house. I thought about him as I drove home. No man has ever given me nothing, but heartache. Although he ruined my car, it was still a gesture that I wasn’t expecting from him. He wasn't so bad after all.

  Later on that night…

Risha and I strutted through the club which was a better scenery than the last club she took me to. The men were sophisticated and approachable. A few tried to get my attention, but I wasn’t checking for anyone. I caught the hair salon before they closed and had my weave taken out. I had a style called, “Goddess braids.” They almost pulled my scalp out, but the style was cute, and it was worth it. My checks weren’t big enough to keep up with the expensive but bad quality weave I was getting. I ordered a Patron margarita from the bar, and Risha had a glass of Henny on the rocks.

“Oh my God, he’s fine,” Risha whispered in my ear. A tall, caramel guy was heading in our direction. He was around six-foot-two and was on the lean side. His haircut and goatee were nicely shaped-up. He wore a Ralph Lauren shirt, dark denim jeans, and he wore a pair of tan loafers on his feet. His cologne reached me before he did. The scent wasn’t overbearing, and it had a nice, clean and masculine smell to it.

“How are you lovely ladies doing tonight?” the stranger asked. I was somewhat disappointed because he had the looks and the height, but his voice was a slight turn off for me. His voice was too soft, but because his approach was decent, I decided to give him a little conversation.

“Oops, I have to use the ladies room,” Risha said and stormed off. I knew what she was doing, and it never failed with her.

“My name is Shawn. What is your name?” he asked.

“Nabila and it’s nice to meet you, Shawn. I think I ran into you before, now that I know your name,” I replied.

“Yes, that’s why I came over here. I saw you at Epstein’s office a while back. I tried to speak to you, but you were in a rush,” he said.

“Were you trying to sue someone?” I asked, and he chuckled.

“No, my parents are good friends of his, and he wanted my advice on something. I’m a lawyer too,” he said.

Ugh, you are soooo boring. Do you fly or something? Wait a minute, what? I asked myself.

I was thinking about Brick while I tried to hold a conversation with Shawn. I couldn’t get him off my mind, especially after the way he pleased me the day before. My clit throbbed as I thought about the devilish things Brick did to my center with his tongue.

“What are your plans for tomorrow?” Shawn asked. I almost forgot I was talking to him until he pulled me out of my thoughts.

  “Nothing, I’m free,” I replied.

Maybe he can get me off, Brick, I thought.

“Do you want to dance?” Shawn asked.

  “Sure,” I replied.

I finished the rest of my drink before I joined him on the dance floor. He wrapped his arms around me, and we swayed side-to-side. Miguel’s song, Adorn, played throughout the club.

“I called the office for you a few times, but Mr. Epstein always said you were busy. I thought he was playa hatin’ for a second,” Shawn said, and I chuckled.

“Mr. Epstein gets jealous whenever he thinks someone is going to pull me away from the work he gives me,” I said.

“I’m glad I ran into you again, and I like your hair by the way. I don’t know much about you yet, but this suits your personality more,” he said.

  “Thank you,” I replied.

We danced to two more songs before we headed back to the bar area. Risha was talking to Shawn’s brother at the bar. The four of us grabbed a table at the upper-level of the club to talk without a lot of loud music. Shawn’s brother, Derrick, was handsome too. He was shorter than Shawn and darker, but he had more of a wild edge to him. Derrick had the bad boy image that Risha liked. We talked and laughed at Derrick who was more social than his brother. Shawn was uptight, and Derrick was into the gritty city life. Derrick wasn’t afraid to let us know about the freaky things he wanted to do to Risha. I exchanged numbers with Shawn at the end of the night.

“Derrick is soooo damn fine!” Risha shouted out. We w
ere on our way back home from the club.

“And he’s around your age with his nasty behind. Derrick is a freak,” I said, and she agreed.

“So, what’s up with you and Shawn’s prude ass?” Risha asked.

“He’s a prude because his criminal record is clean?” I asked.

“No, he just doesn't seem like your type. You have a smart-ass mouth at times. You are bitchy and boring. You don’t need a boring man. You need someone who can add some excitement to your life. I want to meet, Brick,” she said.

“No, you don’t. Brick is an asshole,” I said.

“You are too, Nabila. You are a big asshole. Two assholes together make a complete ass,” she said.

“I like to have coffee dates at Starbucks. That’s where me and Shawn are going tomorrow,” I said, and Risha yawned.

“Please stop! You are killing me. You are only twenty-three. Live it up a little bit. You don’t have to marry, Brick. Just fuck him a few times,” Risha replied.

I do have to marry him, and I don’t have a choice, I thought.

I dropped, Risha off at her apartment. I thought about Brick again as I drove home. I had an uncontrollable throb between my legs again. I pulled over on the side of the road and lifted up my dress. I slid my panties down and grabbed the small bullet I kept in my purse. I reclined my seat far back and propped my legs up on the dash board. I pulled my breast out of my bra. I massaged my breast as the small toy vibrated against my clit. I had flashbacks of Brick’s tongue and when he wrapped his beautiful black wings around me. I squealed and breathed heavily as my essence poured onto my seat. I threw the bullet across the seat because I was still aroused.

“DAMN YOU, BRICK!” I screamed. I sped on my way home with a tingling sensation between my legs. I was convinced that he put something inside of me. I ran my bath water as soon as I got home. I dumped ice-cubes into the tub and sat down in the cold water with my clothes still on. The feeling was so unbearable that it hurt.

“OHHHHHH SHIT!” I screamed out. My body experienced another orgasm without stimulation or penetration. Brick put some type of voodoo spell on me. I took a warm shower after my body cooled. I laid in bed thinking about my connection to Brick. He wasn’t just a creature that fell out of the sky. It was something else, but I couldn’t put my finger on it.

  Brick

  On planet Vada…

I swam across the river to cool off. I had to come in for training. I went to Vada after Nabila left my home. The king was preparing us for another unnecessary battle. I climbed out of the water, and Casha was sitting in the grass with my garments in her hands. I snatched my things from her and proceeded to walk away from her. She followed behind me whenever I was in Vada. I didn’t understand what she wanted from me. She was married to a king from another kingdom, and I was just a soldier.

“We can’t go on like this, Midas!” she yelled after me, but I kept walking. She flew over my head and landed in front of me.

“Why are you doing this to me?” she asked.

  “Doing what?” I replied.

“Ignoring me as if I’m nothing! You are always on Earth when this is your home!” she yelled at me.

“This is not my home. I don’t belong here, and you fucking know it,” I said.

She wrapped her arms around me and kissed me. I thought about Nabila’s wet center exploding on the same tongue that Casha tried to get to. I pushed Casha away from me.

“I don't know who she is, but I will kill her. I can sense when you are with someone else,” Casha said. I breathed a sigh of relief when she flew away. I laid on top of a tree in the forest and stared at the flickering stars. I thought it was a hidden message in the sky for me.

“What are you trying to tell me?” I asked out loud. The flickering stars disappeared into the sky. I grew agitated with trying to connect the dots, but it was a clueless puzzle to my life. I flew off the tree and snatched it out of the ground. I angrily tossed the tree across the forest.

I was ready to throw another one, but I saw a vision of Nabila. She was on a date with a lame human name, Shawn. They were at Starbucks talking about golf. A sport which she knew nothing about, but she didn’t want to tell him. I got comfortable in the grass as I watched the visual of her date. She excused herself to go to the bathroom because of the passion she had for me between her soft thighs. She was thinking about me while I was thinking about her.

I stood up and spread my wings. I took off to the sky like a bolt of lightning. I was going back to my home on Earth.

I left a cannon size hole on the ground in front of my house when I landed. I used my wings to block the soil from flying in my eyes. Nabila was still on her date, but she was extremely bored. She couldn’t stay awake while Shawn talked about the different cities he traveled to…

“Is everything okay with you? Are you sick?” Shawn asked Nabila.

“No, I’m just tired because my neighbor’s dog barked all night,” Nabila lied.

“Do you still want to catch a movie?” Shawn asked.

“I have a lot of work to do that I almost forgot about. I have to work from home with the office being closed. Can I call you later on?” Nabila asked Shawn.

“Okay. Get some well needed rest, beautiful,” Shawn replied…

I took a shower, and got dressed. I snatched my car keys off the wall by the door before I left the house.

  Two hours later…

I pulled up Nabila’s apartment complex which wasn’t in a good area. A gang of guys was sitting in front of the building, smoking and drinking when I walked up the sidewalk.

“What set you repping nigga?” someone asked me.

“None, but can y’all muthafuckas move out my way? Y’all are blocking the door,” I said. The one guarding the door to the building lifted up his shirt to show me his gun. Humans thought their weapons were intimidating.

“Yo, who are you and who you came to see?” another one asked me. His clothes were oversized, and half of his hair was cornrowed.

“So, none of y'all muthafucka’s are going to move?” I asked them.

“Naw, muthafucka we ain’t moving!” the one guarding the door yelled. I picked him up and tossed him in the air like a Frisbee. He landed on top of a car, and it triggered the alarm.

“My arm is broke!” he cried when he rolled off the car.

“Is there still a problem?” I asked the humans. I walked into the building after they scurried away. Sounds of a crying baby echoed throughout the building, and a roach ran across the staircase. I put a dent in Nabila’s door when I knocked.

  “Who is it?” she asked.

  “Brick,” I called out.

I stepped inside her apartment when she opened the door. It was clean and cozy despite the conditions of her building.

“What are you doing here?” she asked.

“I wanted to check up on you,” I said looking around.

  “No family pictures?” I asked.

  “I don’t have a family,” she said.

“All humans have families,” I replied.

“My parents died in a bank robbery. My grand parents died when I was ten-years-old. I lived with my aunt until she got locked up for killing her boyfriend, and I haven't heard from since. I was put into a foster home at eleven-years-old and was raised there. I have other family members who tried to reach out to me because they heard I was a lawyer. I don’t need those type of people in my life. They weren’t there for me when I needed them. I thought you knew everything,” she said.

“My visions are like a cell phone without good service. Sometimes I get it, and sometimes I don’t,” I said. She crossed her arms and sat on the couch.

“Why are you here?” she replied.

Tell her you enjoyed her company and the food she cooked for you, I thought.

“You want my company again? After all that rude shit, you said to me?” she said while blushing.

“Okay, you win. I don’t have anybody to argue with,” I replied, and she laughe
d.

  “And what else?” she asked.

  “That’s it,” I lied.

“So, you mysteriously come over after I get home from my date? I have a feeling you were watching me,” Nabila said.
