Roar (Phoenix in Flames Book 1)
Page 6
He replaced his tongue with his finger, but moved his tongue to her clit and worried it unceasingly. Adding another finger, he stroked into her hard and fast. When he added a third finger she was so close that she rode the edge ready to be thrown over. That came when he sucked her clit into his mouth and lightly raked his teeth over it.
Treva arched toward him, grabbed him by his hair, and screamed his name loud and long. Her body convulsed as her orgasm rocked her from her toes to the top of her head. Roar gave her no time to complete her climax, he slid up and impaled her on his large cock, filling her completely. Her legs parted more and she wrapped them around his hips hooking her ankles together.
“Fuck me!” She screamed and he did. Roar rocked into her and rolled around, learning which spots she loved the most. He was finding them all.
Her release rolled through her unexpectedly and he followed her screaming her name. They lay there shivering wrapped in each other arms waiting until they could catch their breath. It was amazing when they joined and it was better every time. She could see them together in fifty years, still pleasing each other. Was that what Roar was talking about? The feeling that their relationship was timeless?
Roar rolled them over so she was stretched out across his chest. He felt warm and comforting. She looked up at him and he seemed to be relaxed and sated too. He cuddled her close and after a while they both drifted off to sleep. It was Roar’s stomach growling like a monster that woke them both.
“Hey, I think there’s a creature in there wanting out.” Treva said.
“No, I’m just hungry and I bet you are too.”
“I have to admit I am.”
“Why don’t we jump in the shower and then go get something to eat.”
“Okay. I’ll go first.”
Treva hopped up and rushed into the bathroom. Setting the water just right, she got under the spray and wet her hair. She was just starting to massage the shampoo in when she felt someone in the shower behind her. Turning, she saw Roar had slipped up on her and he was carrying around a hard on. The male was insatiable. She couldn’t say much because looking at him made her want him just as much. Finishing her hair, she rinsed it off before Roar grabbed her lifting her up against the wall and pressing against her.
He looked even better wet with streams of water running down his muscles. Why had she wanted to take a shower alone anyway? Oh, yeah. Otherwise they might never get done. She could live with that. Her legs wrapped around his waist as her arms clung to his neck. Roar positioned himself and drove inside of her.
Now he began to hammer into her. This joining was so primitive and excitement ran through her. His strokes were hard and firm, but there was only joy and no pain. Roar went deep and her body accepted every inch as he drove her to another orgasm. She was so close and he nipped at her shoulder making her explode all around him. Later she would figure out why that had sent her over the edge. Right now she just wanted to enjoy it as he joined her and bucked into her sending all his seed deep inside.
“You are amazing, Female.”
“You’re not bad yourself. Let’s finish cleaning up and get some food.” Roar immediately began soaping her up and while she rinsed off, he soaped himself up. “Not fair. I wanted to lather you up.”
“I thought you wanted to eat? If you’d rubbed on me, regardless of why, we’d have been in here for a long time.”
Treva had to admit that was true. She loved to touch him and he was insatiable. Once they finished cleaning up, they got out and dried off. They moved to the bedroom to dress. In a few minutes they were ready to go to the cafeteria. When they entered, Blaze was nowhere to be seen. It was a surprise since he seemed to be in there all the time.
The cafeteria was open all the time because the crew worked all the time. They grabbed trays and moved through the line getting a plateful of food and other things like utensils and a drink. Sitting down, they ate first and it was only when they were nearly done, that they spoke.
“We’ll be at Oison in a few days.”
“Isn’t that faster than you said?” Treva asked.
“When the Mazlans found out about you, they wanted you home as quickly as possible.”
“I guess I’m still trying to understand why they care so much about me.”
“Every type of creature has certain things that dictate their ways of life. Some are loners, others are clannish. There are some that only care about their immediate families and others that only care about themselves. Mazlans are loyal to their people above all else. Family is the most important, but all Mazlans value life. They would care no matter who you were. They help all those from the lab that need their help. Other Mazlans are special to them, but family is the most special. How do you feel about them?”
“I’m not sure yet. I guess I’m curious about them and where I come from. Books can get me started, but I must learn more from my people.”
“They are your people, but Phoenix are your people too.”
“I’ve not forgotten.”
“I hope I’m special to you, too.”
‘You are. I find I care more for you with each passing day.” Treva admitted.
“Don’t sound so upset about it. I feel the same way about you.”
“Is this your attempt to talk about our feelings?”
Roar smiled. “I guess it is. Our people don’t discuss feelings much. You find the right one and just know. You take the next step by binding them to you. That’s what I want to do. It’s stronger than the human marriage and it lasts for life. You would never have to worry about me being anything but completely devoted to you.”
“I never thought about it that way. I guess the devotion runs both way. What if I have no Phoenix abilities? What if my lifespan is shorter than yours?”
“That’s a good question and it makes me happy that you thought of it.”
“Why?”
“Because it shows you’ve been thinking about us joining.”
“You’re right. I have been and entirely too much.”
“If we join, your lifespan unless acted on by violence, will be the same as mine. Even if you have no powers of your own, you’ll gain some protection from the mating. You will be immune to burning or freezing. You won’t be given fire or a fiery form, but if I blow fire on you, instead of burning, you will rejuvenate.”
“We’ll be young together forever?”
“Pretty much.”
“I know most people would jump on this, it’s not about you, it’s about this being right for both of us. I’ve never made a decision and now I’m making one of the most important ones of my life.”
“You’re right. This is an important decision, but you have everything you need to make a good decision and I have faith in you.”
“No pressure, huh?”
“You just need to use your heart. It will see you through. Meanwhile, let’s put up our trays and go back to our room.”
Treva appreciated that he was giving her room to decide. He’d made his case and now she would decide for or against. She was leaning toward jumping in and every time she had a concern, he had an answer for it. There was no doubt in her heart that they were right for each other.
When they made it back to the room, they made love. This time it was slow and steady. His devotion and the way he worshipped her body made her heart ache. He’d truly found the secret to her heart. They fell asleep wrapped around each other and she slept peacefully and woke feeling rested. The only problem she had was her skin itched over her heart and down her right shoulder. It was weird, especially for someone who had perfect skin even in the disaster area that was the lab’s prison.
“What’s the matter?” Roar asked.
“The skin over my heart and on my right arm is itching.”
“Mine too, but I thought I knew why.”
“What did you think it was?”
“When a Phoenix meets his mate, he itches over his heart. When he mates, he and his mate have matching Phoenix over the
ir hearts. Hers is smaller, but they match. I thought my arm was itching because I was nervous that you would reject me.”
“You’re nervous? Don’t you know I love you?“ She shut up. Treva hadn’t planned on telling him so soon.
“You love me?” Roar smiled. “Why are you waiting if you know how you feel?”
“I’m scared of making a mistake.”
“It will always be a big decision. If you love me that should be enough because you know I love you.”
Why was she putting off this decision? She knew how she felt and she saw her uncertainty was hurting her mate. Her mate! Yes, Roar was her mate and it hurt to think about being away from him. If she didn’t commit, he would be sent away on patrol and she wouldn’t see him again for months. If they mated, he would either stay with her or she could go with him.
Staying together was what mattered the most to her. That made her decision easy. “I’m ready.”
He knew exactly what she meant. “You want to do it right now?” She only nodded too excited to talk.
Roar rolled over on top of her caging her in with his body. A sweet kiss and he positioned himself so he would slide into her waiting channel. It began slow, but built up to a rough taking. She loved every second and the friction built the tension and the tension threatened to explode. He licked her throat so she did the same. When the bite came, she exploded all around him, but bit him back. His blood was hot like lava, but it didn’t hurt her. He erupted filling her with his seed until he was completely dry.
They collapsed together on the bed, panting heavily. Both of them lay still until their heart beats and breathing slowed. “What’s this?” Treva asked.
“The Phoenix is our sign that we mated. I don’t know what the deep purple tribal marks indicate. I’ve seen similar marks on Mazlans, but I’d heard females didn’t leave marks on their mates. It’s something to discuss with Razar and his father.”
“You always call them Razar’s parents. Don’t they have names?”
“Yes, he is Davar and she is Gildra. I don’t know them well and only through Razar.”
“Okay. I just wanted to know their names since they are family.”
“You’ll see them soon.”
Epilogue
Razar and his whole family had gone to the space station to greet Treva. She was younger than he and his brothers and her mother had been older. His father and mother stood up front with him, an expectant look on their faces. Due to the bad situation with those that ran the labs and the pirates it seemed they had hired, they had only the barest of information on Treva.
That didn’t stop them from being excited about enlarging their family. They would welcome her with open arms and extend her every protection and give her many options to become fully part of their world. Nothing would be hidden or kept back from her.
Lista was excited too because she was squeezing his arm so tight it cut off the blood flow. His brothers and he had been lucky in their choice of mates and all of them were caring and wonderful females. It was his hope that Treva would fit right in once she realized she was welcome.
The door opened and Roar came out first looking around for any possible danger. It was just what a good guard should do. He stepped back in and Treva came out, they were walking hand in hand. That might be a little more than a guard should be doing. He would counsel Roar later, when they were alone. It was sending a proprietary message that wasn’t in keeping with the protector/protected relationship.
The two of them moved up until they were within arm’s length. “Treva, it is great to see you.” Razar said as he introduced each member of the family. He turned to Roar. “You’ve dropped her off safely. We give you our thanks. You can get back to your duties now.”
Roar looked at Treva and she nodded. “Treva and I are mated. I hope that you will all be happy for us.”
A dark look passed over Razar’s face and he thought about railing at Roar. It wasn’t that he didn’t like him, it was that Treva had been through a lot and should have been able to adjust without being pursued. The problem was that when he thought clearly about the mates in his brother’s and his own lives, they had all been mated during difficult times.
“So how did that come to pass?” He asked holding back his anger.
“I knew the second I saw her. She knew she was attracted to me, but she didn’t believe in fated mates. Her opinion changed and now I’m the luckiest male alive.”
“Congratulations on your mating. We’ll throw you a party in a few days. Any excuse to dance and get crazy, right?” Lista said as she bumped Razar’s shoulder.
“Yes, of course.” Razar agreed.
“We have to ask you about the mating marks of Mazlans.” Treva blurted out.
“Why?” Razar asked. “Has something happened?”
“Yes, when we mated my mark appeared. It is a Phoenix and I expected that. We also both had deep purple tribal marks. That was a surprise and is unknown among Phoenixes.”
“As the races mix, I suspect we will see more such oddities. Perhaps it is a sign that you are stronger because you joined? It might show both of you have qualities from both our races.” Davar said.
“I hope so. Right now we are unsure what qualities Treva will have. I believe she was drugged to prevent her from using her powers. Ouch! What did you do that for?” Roar asked.
“That’s the first I’ve heard of your theory. Don’t you think you should have told me first?”
“I’m sorry. It was just a thought and the more I thought it, the more likely it seemed.” Roar admitted.
“I agree with you. You two mating may turn out to be a good thing for more than one reason. You can help her with any Phoenix traits. Any of us will be happy to help with Mazlan abilities once they manifest,” Razar offered. “Meanwhile, my parents have a party set up at their house. We are pleased and excited to add both of you to our family.”
“Thank you. I am pleased to have family,” Treva said.
“Thank you for the warm welcome,” Roar added.
They got on a personal transport that the leaders of Oison used. It was nice, but not excessively luxurious. These people, now her family, led by example. She had read that all the people of Oison lived good lives. They had free medical care, free higher education, and free housing. Most houses were new and Treva knew she and Roar would be assigned one.
They landed in the yard of Davar’s home. Gildra came to her and took her arm leading her inside and fussing as Treva had heard mothers did. She directed her and Roar to seats while Gildra took charge of the meal like a general assigning tasks to all. In less than twenty minutes, the table was overflowing with delicious smelling foods and a wide variety of drinks.
It was a family atmosphere and she felt like she belonged. That was something unusual for her. Everyone sat down at the table now that it was filled with all the food and surprisingly it was Gildra that had a few words to say.
“Thank all the gods and goddesses for bringing us Treva and then giving her Roar. Today is a day about family, love, and togetherness. May Treva be happy with us and safe when she’s away from us. We welcome both of you into our family, community, and world with everything we have. To family!”
That’s when Treva noticed a fluted glass in front of her. She picked hers up like everyone else had and repeated the toast, “To family!” She really felt like she was finally home, but it wasn’t a place. It was the people that accepted her and made her part of their lives and Roar, more than anyone.
Phoenix in Flames
Book 2
Blaze
He’d always considered Roar his best friend and they’d hung out together a lot. That was now in the past because Roar had fallen and it hit hard. He was mated and it was hard to tear him from his mate’s side. Only the new priority of aiding in the lab raids had managed it, but his mate came with him. Blaze hoped he never lost himself that completely even while he was a little jealous of their obvious happiness.
Lab born and
raised, Felicity never expected to be freed. She would live and die in misery just as her mother had. When these people came and whispered they would soon be free, she didn’t believe them. When the man came and told her he planned to free her, she wanted to believe everything he said.
Could fate finally be working in their favor to give two jaded people the chance of a lifetime?
