The Dragonsitter Page 3

by Josh Lacey

However, I chose some years ago to come and live on a small island, just off the coast of Scotland, and I have many duties here. I am also, I must confess, a nervous public speaker, and your students would probably be bored by my ramblings.

Instead of myself, may I offer a copy of my book? It will be published by a small press later this year—the title is: The Winged Serpents of Zavkhan: In Search of the Dragons of Outer Mongolia.

I shall send a couple of copies to Eddie and ask him to bring one to school. You might like to read a few pages to your class. Obviously, I wouldn’t want to encourage schoolchildren to hunt for dragons—they are quiet creatures and prefer to be left alone—but I should like to inspire in the younger generation a respect for wildlife and a longing for adventure.

  With all best wishes,

  Morton
