I laughed at the others rolling their eyes but realised that those women shared a history and were best friends. They had invited me into their circle and I was grateful for that.
The band started to play; Susie and Taylor pulled me to the dance floor. I wasn’t sure how my heels would stand up but dancing was something I loved, I could keep up with the best of them. As the music slowed, I noticed Robert at the edge of the dance floor looking at me, a smile on his lips when he strode over.
“Excuse me ladies, my turn,” he said, as he pulled me into his arms.
“I could watch you all night,” he added as he placed his arm around my waist and took my hand, holding it to his chest.
“You can dance.” I said as he swayed with the music.
“I don’t know about dance, I can move about,” he said, laughing.
I snuggled into him. It had been a great day, very different from only a short while ago when I thought I’d lost him and my heart swelled with love.
“I don’t want to go home, Robert,” I said. He looked at me.
“I mean, I don’t want to go back to the UK, ever. What do I have to do to stay here, to stay here with you?” I asked.
“Are you sure, Brooke? Remember, don’t ever say things to me you don’t mean.”
“I mean it, I know I said three months and it’s only been three weeks but I’m sure. No matter what happens to us, I can’t be thousands of miles away from you.”
He pulled me close, his head rested on mine, “I’ll sort it,” he said.
I know I was going to wait, I know I was going to speak with Sam about residency in the US. But seeing how far Robert had come in just a short space of time, how willing he was to show the world we were a couple and how much I loved him, I couldn’t. I wanted to stay, even if we didn’t make it and as painful as it would be, I meant what I’d said. I couldn’t be thousand of miles from him. At that moment, I remembered what Travis had said. If I took him on, I took him on for life, and I had to forgive him anything, I believed I was totally ready for that.
We danced a couple of songs before Mack cut in; Taylor pulled a laughing Robert into her arms.
“You’ve done a good job, Brooke,” Mack said, twirling me around the dance floor.
“He’s the one doing the good job but he still has a long way to go yet,” I laughed.
“You know, we were mighty surprised to learn about you, but we think the world of him. Don’t you hurt him now,” he said with a warm smile and I realised it was a small threat but I accepted it, he was important to these people.
Not only did I have to gain the full trust of Robert, Evelyn and Travis but those people as well, they were his confidents, his closest allies.
“How long have you known him, Mack?” I asked.
“Well, it must be 25 years or so I guess,” he replied. “We have a lot to thank him for. He’s made us all successful.”
“I think you’ve taken enough of my girl’s time and I can’t keep up with yours,” Robert said, cutting in.
I laughed as he led me off the dance floor and hand in hand we walked back to the table. We said our goodbyes and with promises to meet soon, I picked up my clutch and we headed to the door, both of us ready to leave.
Travis was waiting, the car door already open and I slid across the seat with Robert beside me. I played with the necklace thinking how lucky I was to have met this man and how I’d also changed in such a short time. I remembered back to when I was scared of him, I had no doubt he would do that to me again, but I was learning. Learning how to handle him, how to read him and know the danger signs when I pushed him too quickly. I shuffled over and leant into him with my arm around his waist.
As we puled away from the curb I noticed a man, about the same age, flick his cigar to the curb and push himself off the wall. He stared at me with a strange smile then pulled out a mobile and made a call. I thought nothing of it.
“Thank you for a great night and thank you for my necklace, I love it,” I said looking into Robert’s eyes.
“I want a new car,” I heard Travis say. “One with that window I can put up, stop me having to look at you two, it’s sickening,” he said, with a smile.
I laughed as Robert pulled me to him, kissing me deeply.
“Oh man,” Travis said, tutting.
We drove home with me snuggled into him, and my head resting on his shoulder. I must have dozed off as the cold air woke me when the door was opened; we had arrived home. Robert carried me into the house and straight to the bedroom. Sitting me on the bed, he bent to take off my shoes and kissed my toes.
“Do you know how many men were looking at you dance?” he said.
“No and I don’t care, I’m only interested in you,” I replied, running my hands through his hair.
“Gave me a buzz. I thought I would be jealous and I guess I was a little but I know whose bed you will be in tonight, who’s going to make you come and beg for more,” he said. His voice was raspy and his eyes darkened.
I stood and unzipped my dress, letting it fall to the floor and stepped out of it. I walked towards him.
“Stay exactly where you are,” he said, and I shivered at his command.
He walked to the closet and came out with a black silk scarf I owned, something I had brought from home to compliment an outfit. It seemed to have taken on a very different, sinister meaning. He placed the scarf over my eyes, tying it at the back of my head and picked me up. He laid me on top of the bed.
“Don’t move,” he whispered.
I could hear him moving around the room, removing his clothes and the sound of a bottle being opened. I moved my head, following the sound.
“I said, don’t move,” he whispered in my ear.
His voice startled me, I hadn’t realised he was so close. I was already wet, aroused and my stomach quivered in anticipation.
I felt a drip of something onto my stomach, warm oil, and it took me by surprise. Another drip landed on each nipple and ran over my breasts, yet another at my throat, and then he used his hands to smooth it over me. Slick, wet, and warm, yet my body shivered at his touch. A small moan escaped my mouth as his hands rubbed the oil into my breasts and down my stomach, back up, and around my throat, his thumbs worked the oil into my skin.
I felt him move away. His hands started at my knees and worked their way up my thighs. His thumbs just brushed my clitoris and then moved out over my hips, I raised them to him.
“Did I just tell you not to move?” he growled.
My body, slick with oil and warm from his massaging, felt on fire, ready to burst and I reached out for him without thinking. He grabbed both my wrists, forcing them above my head; his face was close to mine.
“So, you won’t do as you’re told, we’ll have to rectify that won’t we,” he said, as he moved away.
He pulled my wrists above my head and tied them to the headboard with his leather belt. I whimpered but knew he wouldn’t hurt me. His hands sent shock waves through my body. I heard the buzz of my favourite toy and he ran the cold metal over my skin, resting the tip on each nipple, bringing a gasp to my throat.
“Do you trust me?” he asked quietly and I nodded.
He let the vibrator run down my stomach resting the tip on my clitoris, sending waves of desire through me. He positioned himself between my legs and held the vibrator just inside me; his tongue flicked at my clitoris as he slowly pushed it further in. I moaned out louder that time as he twisted it around, and as his mouth sucked on me. I felt that familiar sensation flow over me, and the fact that I couldn’t see and I couldn’t move my arms intensified it. He could do whatever he wanted and whether I could move or not, I was powerless to stop him.
I rolled my head back, a cry erupted from me as my body gave in to him. He pulled the vibrator out and replaced it with his tongue, lapping at my orgasm and forcing my legs further apart. He totally exposed me to him as I came.
He moved up over me, his mouth forcing down on mine and I tasted mys
elf on his tongue, his lips.
“Turn over,” he commanded.
I moved onto my stomach, my forehead was propped on the pillow and I felt that drip of oil again at the base of my neck. It dribbled down my spine. His hands smoothed the liquid over my shoulders and down to my backside, massaging each cheek. I could feel his hot breath on my back as his lips brushed against my skin. I felt kisses in the small of my back and then that buzz at the top of my spine, very slowly following it down.
“Kneel up, Brooke,” he said. I did as I was told, immediately.
One hand kneaded my backside; the other ran the vibrator down between my cheeks to that very private place. My heart pounded and my breath quickened. Instead of the vibrator, I felt his finger insert inside. The vibrator moved down, and was being pushed inside me.
Oh my God. His finger was very gently pushing down against the vibrations. The combination sent me over the top and I struggled to stay where I was, to stay on my knees. My legs shook so violently that I wanted to collapse. My hands gripped the headboard and I lost control. I struggled to get my breath and cried out his name, over and over.
The feeling was divine; I pushed myself back against him, forcing his finger and the vibrator deeper inside me. Just as I was about to come, he stopped and removed his finger. He threw the vibrator to the floor and gripped my hips. He pushed into me, taking my breath away. One hand gripped my hair and he forced my head up and back, riding me, his other hand circling under me teasing at the same time.
Every time I got close to coming, he stilled until my breathing became a little more under control and then he started again, denying me my orgasm. It was torture, a delicious torture. It was pain and pleasure at the same time, and it went on and on. I lost track of time.
I cried out, begged him, and pleaded with him. I wanted him, harder and faster. A pressure built up inside me and I needed him to release it. His teeth ran over my back, biting, leaving his mark, branding me until we both came at the same time, both cried out, With shaking legs, I collapsed down onto the bed. He was on his knees with his hands supporting himself either side of me. His forehead rested on my back as he got himself under control.
He untied the scarf around my eyes, released my wrists, and moved to lie beside me. He was on his back, and I was on my stomach trying to settle the ache from such an intense orgasm. My eyes were closed.
“You okay?” he whispered.
I turned my face to him and smiled, “Oh, God, that was amazing,” I said, my throat sore.
He rolled off the bed and held out a hand, he led me to the shower. Putting gel on a sponge, he washed the oil from my body, shampooed my hair and when he was done, he wrapped me in a towel and carried me back. My legs were too weak to support me. Still damp, we climbed under the covers and within seconds I was asleep, exhausted; all the while he stroked my hair.
Chapter Ten
I woke before him and left him sleeping. I picked up our discarded clothes and tidied up. I cleaned the vibrator and with a little kiss to my new best friend, stored it away for another day. Wearing joggers and a t-shirt, I made my way upstairs. It was early and with a cup of tea I sat and watched the October sun rise. In just a few short weeks the landscape had changed. The leaves had turned a golden brown and the grass had lost its vibrant green. I watched squirrels scamper across the lawn, collecting those last fallen nuts to store for winter. Just for a fleeting moment I felt a sense of dread, something was going to burst the bubble I was in, it had to. No one could be that happy, that content and there not be a big crash bringing me back down to earth.
It was Sunday, a chill out day, and I had a plan. Finding my phone, I called Travis with a request and I watched him a little later take the car down the drive. I smiled to myself; I made Robert a coffee and took it downstairs to him. He was sprawled on his back, one arm thrown over his head, and still asleep. For a moment I just looked at him. His black hair was messy, already a little stubble showed around his jaw. He seemed so peaceful, the covers were pushed low down on his waist and I let my fingers trace the scar that ran along his side.
Whatever happened to have caused that had not been mended professionally, I’d thought. The scar was not neat; it zigzagged down. He stirred and I sat on the edge of the bed.
“Hey,” I said. “Coffee?”
“I’d rather have you,” he mumbled with eyes not completely open.
“After last night, I need a couple of hours still to recover,” I said.
He smiled, turned onto his side to face me with his eyes open.
“It was good, Brooke. You have a fantastic body and you taste fucking amazing,” he said.
Blushing, I handed him his coffee.
“I have a plan for today. First I’m going to make you bacon sandwiches, a Sunday tradition back home, and then you can teach me to shoot again. After lunch it’s movies, popcorn, crisps and sweats until we feel sick.”
“I like the first half of the day,” he said, taking a sip of his coffee.
“And, Mr. Stone, you will enjoy the second half too. Now, breakfast will be in twenty minutes, when Travis gets back with my shopping.”
“You sent Travis out for shopping? Boy, he’ll be pissed,” he laughed.
I made my way back upstairs and raided the fridge. You couldn’t get decent bacon in America but what I found would have to do. I put it under the grill as Travis opened the front door and made his way up the stairs.
Grumbling, he said, “Any idea how hard some of this was to find.”
“Thank you, why don’t you stay? Bacon sandwiches?” I said as I unpacking the grocery bag.
I put my arms around his neck and kissed his cheek. “Oh Travis, you found it,” I said, hugging the HP Fruity Sauce to my chest.
“Yeah, well, don’t make a habit of it. Had to wake up someone I knew, got him to open his store for you. Might as well hang around and see what all the fuss is about,” he said, plonking his grumpy arse on a stool.
“What about Evelyn, would she want some?” I asked.
“Doubt it, she’ll be at church now,” he said, checking his watch.
I cut some fresh white bread, something neither of them ate, smothered it with butter and with a shout down to Robert, I placed the bacon that had been grilling on the slices, watching the butter melt.
“Man, get rid of her,” Travis gestured towards me as Robert made his way over. “This looks too good, we’re gonna get fat, and she sent me shopping. Fucking food shopping. Not just food shopping but to a DVD store as well,” he said in outrage.
I laughed, I knew he was just kidding and pushed a plate towards him.
“Stop moaning. Now boys, HP Fruity Sauce, pour it all over and eat,” I said.
They watched me pour the sauce on my bacon, squash down the bread and lick my fingers where the sauce had oozed out the sides.
“Mmm,” I said taking a bite. “Perfect.”
For two guys who wouldn’t normally eat that, they woofed it down, so I made another round.
“Okay, I change my mind, keep her bro, this is good,” Travis said and Robert laughed.
“Oh she’s staying all right, for good,” he said, winking at me.
We cleared away the dishes and with a sweatshirt and trainers on, we headed out to the shooting range. Robert took a set of keys from the cabinet near the front door on the way. I was amazed to see the range of weapons they had in the gun store, it would have done a small army. Travis handed me a small handgun, a little easier to handle than the shotgun I’d tried before. After I’d been shown what to do, we stood side by side and emptied the guns into the targets. It felt like a cop show, lining up for target practice.
For someone who had never handled a gun before, never known anyone who even owned one, I was enjoying the feel of the heavy metal in my hands. A couple of hours later, and finally managing to hit the target, we were done. I was cold, my nose was red, and my hands were wrapped in the sleeves of my sweatshirt for warmth.
“Well done, baby,
Robert said, kissing the tip of my nose, warming it. “You hit the target, once, but at least you hit it,” he joked.
I followed the guys back into the building, while they locked away the guns and Robert alarmed the room. We headed back through the woods to the warmth of the house.
“Do you want to join us for movies?” I asked Travis.
“No way, I had to pick up the shit you’ve chosen, good luck, Rob,” he said, slapping his back and heading off to his apartment.
Hand in hand we walked back into the house.
“If you want to practice and I’m not here, those are the keys,” he said, showing me them.
“Not on your own though, you make sure you have Travis with you. I don’t want you shooting yourself,” he added.
“That was fun, now let’s skip lunch, I’m still full and start with movies,” I said excitedly.
Leaving him to settle in the TV room, I poured popcorn and crisps into bowls, uncorked a bottle of wine and carried the lot on a tray. I hadn’t let him see the films I had chosen and the first one I put on was Shawshank Redemption.
We sat snuggled on the sofa, munching on popcorn, and watched the film. His arm was around me and when the credits rolled he smiled at me.
“Brilliant film, Brooke. Now do we get to make out?” he said.
“That’s what teenagers do here, they don’t actually watch the movie,” he laughed.
“No way, it’s a British movie night and we do watch the films,” I said as I pushed him away.
“Now, next choice, The Godfather, Gladiator or Twilight?” I waved the cases in front of him.
“I’m not watching Twilight so you choose.”
As the sun began to lower, we watched Gladiator, one of my favourite films and every time I sighed at Russell Crowe’s body I earned a slap across the thighs.
Once it had finished, I let him off the hook. Two films back to back were enough, I thought. I cleared the room, washed the dishes, and heard Travis’ heavy footsteps come up the stairs.
“Rob,” he called out and gestured with his head towards the office.
I watched them walk towards the door, quietly talking. Just as Robert opened the door he turned and saw me watching them.
