“Riley, you are the son of my heart and I will never leave you. Do you hear me? I’m as healthy as one of those Beefmaster steers on Tebow Ranch that you love to show me when we go visit your grandmother. Just you wait and see.”
Gavin had seen the motion from outside of the room and was no longer willing to wait outside. “What’s wrong? What happened?”
Nodding at Riley, she looked over at Gavin. “Nothing’s wrong. Me and Riley were just having a little talk about what color the room should be. He said yellow, but I think it should be neon green. It was a moment of insanity, but I’m fine now. I think we settled on yellow and green. Isn’t that right, Riley?”
“Yup. Come on, Dad, let’s go. Mom’s been on her feet all day and she needs to rest.”
Gavin looked between the two of them. She shook her head, mouthing “Later” as he picked up her bag.
“When did my son get to be so bossy?” he asked, walking behind her out of the room.
“He gets it naturally. You’re one of the bossiest, most stubborn men I know. And now it seems I’m raising another one,” she replied with a laugh.
“You love me in spite of my flaws, Mrs. Carpenter.” Wrapping his arm around her shoulder, he pulled her in tight. Kissing her on the temple, he walked his family out the door of the school and Regina couldn’t be happier.
“Yes, I sure do, Mr. Carpenter.”
She’d bet on the long shot and taken a chance.
In return, she found her future.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
The characters I write will not be perfect. None of us are. They will make mistakes. All my heroes will have redeeming qualities, but on the outset, you may not be their biggest fan. My heroine's will be the kind of women you want to hang out with. They're the women next door, down the street and around the corner. They are the ladies you would want to spend time with on a Saturday night drinking a martini.
I have been an avid reader of romance novels since the age of fourteen and know what appeals to me as reader. My goal is, and will always be, to provide that same experience for the women and men who read my novellas and short stories.
I’m a former Marine and served for eight years, so strong military men will always be a favorite topic of mine. I will continue to write stories with military heroes’ front and center. I’m also a fan of Alpha-males and strong women who love with everything they have.
Love and Hugs,
Reana Malori ♥
