Her climax built, then exploded over her in wave after wave. Her cries were quickly matched by Gabe’s groans as his thrusts matched her grinding. She rode him with the lights of New York blinking all around, and the sound of taxi horns floating up from the street below.
When they had quieted, she collapsed on him, burrowing her face in his neck. His arm wrapped around her and he made long strokes of her hair.
She pulled back to look at him. “That was amazing.”
“You’re not kidding. I think we should do it again.”
“I think that can be arranged.” She smiled.
Later that week, back at home, Jewel snapped her laptop shut as she finished her as-yet-unnamed story about professor/student indulgences. Gabe had been right—his publisher had loved her concept. He’d devoured the first chapter of her book and had told her to send the rest, ASAP. Her newfound confidence had set off an endless storm of stories that she couldn’t write fast enough.
How freaking amazing was that?
She walked over to her dresser and dug into the back of the bottom drawer for that fistful of denim fabric she’d not seen in quite awhile. She shook out her goal jeans and slipped a foot into the first leg.
But truth be told, it didn’t matter if Gabe, the publisher, or anyone else believed in her, and it didn’t matter whether the goal jeans fit.
She’d finally learned to believe in herself. And that was the most perfect fit of all.
