Skor the Winged Stallion Page 4

by Adam Blade

He sailed up, his feet striding through the air, and whooped in delight as the wind rushed past. The abyss opened up beneath them, but Tom wasn’t afraid.

“I feel like a bird!” shouted Elenna.

The ground on the other side was approaching fast.

“Brace yourself!” Tom yelled over his shoulder. He hit the land hard, sprawling into the dirt. His shield skittered away and came to rest against a nearby bush.

Elenna was laughing. “I don’t think I’ll ever be afraid of heights again!” she said.

Storm galloped over and nudged at Tom with his nose. Silver licked Elenna’s face excitedly. Tom brushed the earth off his knees and climbed to his feet. It was good to be back together again.

He walked over to retrieve his shield. But as he turned it over, he saw that the sea serpent’s tooth in its surface was glowing and vibrating. Tom turned to his companion.

“Elenna, we have to go!” he said.

“Why?” she said, worry creasing her brow.

Tom held out the shield for her to see. “It’s Sepron the Sea Serpent.”

Another of Avantia’s good Beasts was in danger.

“While there’s blood in my veins,” Tom swore, thrusting his sword to the sky, “I’ll finish this Quest!”
