Jeramaya now had to find Adameus.
Chapter fifteen
The captive
Ever since Carl and Jan had boarded Jeramaya’s spacecraft, they had to undergo the same decontamination process as Maya did, breathing in the decontamination mist, cleansing the lungs and the outside of their bodies. They were also provided with uniforms and standard living quarters, which reminded Carl what it used to be like living onboard their 35-foot boat, meaning space was limited, since there were now six people on board. In addition, there life support systems could only cater for one more persons, which Jeramaya hoped would be Adameus, the very person he had to find. However, the task would not be a simple one, since Sonard had cast him into the past, tracing Adameus would not be easy.
That’s were Carl’s theory came in, he explained to Jeramaya how he thought Adameus might have been influencing someone to write prophesies of the future, with his research in the library, Carl had quite a good idea in which year they needed to travel too in order to find Adameus. Maya also had some knowledge on how to detect Adameus, since she had discovered that he could still be wearing his teleportation tag, allowing them to locate his exact position.
However, Gale had just informed the captain, that since they had traveled to and throw from their planet to earth several times, the ships power cells were desperately in need of recharging, meaning for the time being they were going nowhere.
Jeff, their ship’s technician, tried desperately to preserve whatever energy he could, only it would not be sufficient for them to travel the speeds needed to achieve time travel. Maya had overheard Jeff, explaining about their dwindling power supplies, and she recalled something she once heard Sonard say, since at one time he had also went through the same problem as they were. ‘Excuse me Jeramaya! I think I could be of some help,” she said
“And how do you think you’re going to replace our power source?” asked Jeff.
“Well I am not quite sure how it’s done! However, I once heard Sonard say how the earthlings were confused when they landed on the planet, in a corn field to recharge their power source,” replied Maya.
Carl realized what Sonard meant by this, he recalled several news reports of strange shapes being created in several deserted corn fields, and most of these shapes materialized just after a storm had taken place in that area.
“Lightening, That’s it if you found an approaching storm, and landed in a vast corn field where there are no buildings, since your craft will be the only metal object with in that area, lightning would surely strike the ship,” Said Carl.
Jeff was stunned, lost for words realizing that humans were not dumb at all, and were able to adapt to their new surroundings quite easily. Jeramaya thought it over calculating if this would be possible, he even ran a computer simulation with gale, seeing what alterations would have to be made.” well Jeff what do you thing?” asked Jeramaya.
“This could be achieved, and it might just as well work, although the ships power intact would need some slight modifications,” said Jeff.
Finally, they had hope; all they needed now was a storm and a deserted field where no one would know what they were up too.
Jeff began work at once, altering the ships power intake, which supplied their power cells. While Jeramaya tracked down a developing storm over the continents, which was now trouble at all, since hundreds of thunderstorms take place almost simultaneously.
There they waited for the storm to materialize, while the rain slowly pattered on their ships, glass shields. Jeramaya took this moment to recall his younger days, and how the massive corn field where they had landed, somehow resembled his home land, before their planet became a frozen waste land, were the fields now lay tens of feet below the ice and snow. A flash of lightning lit up the sky bringing Jeramaya back to his senses, while Jeff franticly raced to alter the ships power intake. He would have to isolate the energy as it traveled towards the ships power cells, forever hoping to contain the intense voltage carried in one single bolt of lightning.
A farmer gazed into the sunset as the storm grew nearer; hoping the lightning would not ignite his cornfield. The rains intensified, as thunder roared all around his isolated farmhouse, a bolt of lightning raced towards the earth. The farmer looked on hoping his fields would remain intact, a fire at this stage just before harvest, could destroy his entire crop.
As the heavens roared, a second lightning bolt crackled through the sky, striking virtually in the same place as the first, temporarily exposing Jeremy’s ship as its cloaking screen, slightly shimmered for a split second. The old farmer rubbed his eyes not believing what he had just seen, while Curiosity led him to gather his dogs that forever howled as if for some reason they sensed, something was out there.
Armed with his old double-barreled shotgun, the farmer went to investigate as to what it was he had just seen. His old pickup truck splashed across the muddy, dirt track leading to the same place that Jeramaya and his crew had landed, hoping to discover the unknown. However, to his surprise the only thing the farmer found was a large patch of his wheat field had been flattened by Jeremy’s ship, leaving a precise imprint of its underbelly.
The farmer would later on report this to the authorities, as they batter their brains hoping to find an answer, as to what had made this strange shape, knowing it was not the first to be discovered, or even the last.
Carl’s theory had been successful, the lighting had recharged the ships power cells to the max, which Jeff could feel as he pushed their cruiser to its limits, blasting out of earth’s orbit in just a matter of seconds.
Jeramaya was in his quarters with Jade, the ship’s physician, analyzing the data storage device that Carl had stolen back from Sonard’s head quarters. The sights they were seeing showed exactly how Sonard and his crew had succeeded in transforming a primitive Ape like creature, into an intellectually being.
Maya accompanied them explaining the procedures that had taken place, only Jeramaya needed no explanation at all, the images being screen showed what Sonard had achieved by inducing, cross breading with a primitive species, he had created the very being that dominated the earth.
Jan curiously walk around their space ship exploring her new home it all seemed like some kind of a bad dream, although she knew this dream was real.
Carl had taken time to absorb all that had happened, his mind raced while he tried desperately to answer the hundreds of questions that taunted his mind. Although the most important question he needed answering was, what would happen to them once Jeramaya succeeds in erasing the past, eliminating humans from the face of the earth, would Carl, Jan, and Maya also mysteriously disappear? This was something Carl needed answering now.
Jeramaya had finished discussing the contents of the data, storage device with the rest of his crew when Carl rudely barged into his quarters; Jeramaya turned to face Carl he could see he was stressed, then again why he should not be. Carl had been taken from his planet and was now aboard an alien space ship, even though they were not hostile and the rest of the crew had accepted them, still Carl’s behavior was something that Jeramaya knew, and had expected.
Carl sat down besides Jeramaya, and began to push him for answers; Jeramaya calmed him down explaining how time travel worked.
” Whoever traveled with in the time capsule being our ship, would not be affected by time, but would remain the same as before they had departed into a different time zone. “
Carl was somewhat relieved by this, and thanked Jeramaya for his comforting words. As Carl stood up to leave, he slightly lost his balance, Jeramaya held out his hand to steady him, “What’s happening”, asked Carl.
“Gale, the ships computer is adjusting the ships angle before we activate our warp drive, which will allow us to travel through time,” said Jeramaya.
Carl regained balance and left almost at once, he found Jan in the control room clinging to the doorway talking to Maya, this seemed odd since Carl once had the feeling that these two would definitely not
get on together. However, their surroundings were different from what they were before; being the only humans onboard somehow brought the women closer together
Jan turned to face Carl as he approached, being pleased to see him. Maya smiled at Carl, who made him slightly blush, however Maya’s attention was soon drawn towards Jeramaya as he steadily approached the ships control room. Jan noticed Maya had her eye on the captain, and why shouldn’t she they were both very attractive, and Jan thought they would make the perfect couple. Carl noticed how Maya reacted once Jeramaya was close by her side; in some way, it reminded him of Jessie, and how she used to tease him forever trying to get his attention, Which also reminded him of the gruesome methods that Sonard’s man had used, stringing her to the wall, taking the very life from her?
“Activating warp drive, in 9-8 seconds and counting,” said gale
Jeramaya instructed Carl and his friends to take a seat, and to strap themselves in tightly, once the ship reached a certain point, traveling at the vast speeds needed to achieve time travel. Gale would need to sharply, bank the ship hard, once they reached the 90-deg point. At this precise moment, she would also switch polarity on their warp drive, enabling them to travel through time and space, in to the unknown bringing them to the closest year as possible so maybe they could trace Adameus. Jeramaya and his crew would now be traveling deep into the past, a time were everything stood different to what it is today, they would be traveling to the year 1530, the same year of the great plague hoping to find Adameus. Who was thought to have inspired Nostradamus to write cryptic verses, hoping to warn humankind of the events that were to take place throughout our future? Although, none of these prophesies would have been taken seriously, only until after the event had taken place, being too late for anyone to react, try and prevent these catastrophes from ever happening.
Chapter sixteen
Adameus
When Adameus was cast out into the past by Sonard, for not agreeing with his plans to infect man hoping to erase him from the planet forever, Adameus found himself in a distant world primitive from his kind. He survived on shrubs, and any form of fruit the forest could provide, until one day a group of monks came across his deselect soul taking him it to their care. Foods, clean clothing were provided for him, however simple they might have seemed they had helped Adameus to survive.
They took him with them across the pastures of France, until they arrived at a place called Mote San Michael, built in 709 by Saint Albert. The monastery within offered them sanctuary, and Adameus had adapted quickly to his new surroundings were he soon developed their native tongue, being able to communicate between the other monks.
Everyone soon recognized his intelligence and knowledge, as Adameus began to lecture them on primitive scientific, methods to help this small society contained within their magnificent fortress. He would offer them medical advice, to help deal with the plague that had encrusted this beautiful country, and teach mathematics to the other monks, forever hoping to push them technically forward. However, he still kept in mind that this type of primitive people were not yet ready to deal with the advanced knowledge that Adameus was capable of providing, although, he did created a laboratory which he conducted simple experiments, delivering herbal solutions for the people of these times.
As the years went by, Adameus knew his fate lay within the monastery walls, he was content with the primitive life which he had adapted too, and would spent endless hours inside his laboratory mixing herbs and chemicals to deal with the infectious diseases that invaded the lands. Adameus had found his place within this new society not ever imagining how important he would become in the future of our planet, until a blinding light entered his very own laboratory. Adameus knew at once that this could only mean one thing, and turned towards the light expecting to see Sonard, only instead he saw a tall figure of a man wearing a distinctive uniform that he had once worn. His course curly hair stood out from the time zone which they were in, Adameus stared at the man frightened by his appearance until he spoke,” Adameus is this you?” asked Carl.
“Who seeks Adameus?” he asked, only he spoke in French.
Carl under stood what Adameus had asked, since he had studied French at school, his lips stumbled for the words and replied, “My name his Carlos, Sent here by Jeramaya.”
Adameus was silent, the name Jeramaya rang a bell bringing back memories of his own planet, however, Adameus was coerces in responding, he knew this could be some sort of a trick which could lead him to be accused of sorcery, leading him to be burnt at the stake.
“I know of no one by that name! Be gone with you,” he replied.
Carl knew Adameus feared him and began to describe the world, as he knew it, over 500 hundred years into the future. He explained what Sonard had created, how the probe was activated infected his own race, and why Jeramaya was sent on a mission to stop Sonard. Adameus listened realizing that Carl spoke the truth, although, he was still not convinced if Sonard had put him up to this or not.
Carl continued to explain how he found the pendent device, and how he had managed to activate it, “that’s a lie!” Shouted Adameus, “Only one of our kind can activate such a device.” Carl took out the pendent from his pocket and held it in his hand, Adameus looked on, waiting to see if what Carl was claiming to be a half bread was true or not. The needle like prong pierced Carl’s skin, and began to analyze his blood, while the top half of the pendent began to open. Adameus stared shocked by all of this, “oh my god what has Sonard done, these were never our intentions.”
“It’s ok Adameus, Jeramaya came back in time to put things straight, and restored balance to this planet”, said Carl. “But that is impossible! You would have to travel to the very beginning of time,” said Adameus. “That is why we came back to this time period to find you, so you can help us track down Sonard in the past.”
“ Look here young man the only reason you found me is because I stayed inside the same time zone, not like Sonard did, we traveled across a variety of times, dates ranging from the very beginning of mankind,” said Adameus. “That’s where you’re wrong! We knew the exact year in which to find you, since you left your mark in our history,” replied Carl.
“What on earth are you on about,” said Adameus.
Carl was a bit confused by his words, and began to explain how he discovered that Adameus must have influenced Nostradamus using telepathy, to inspire him to write events, which were to happen hundreds of years ahead of his time. Leading Jeramaya and his crew to return to the very some time period that Nostradamus had lived, in order to find him.
” That is ridiculous young man! I have not, and have no intentions of influencing no one,” replied Adameus. “That’s impossible, if it was not for Nostradamus, we would have never have found you,” said Carl.
Adameus was silent, as his superior knowledge of time travel began to kick in, bringing theories into facts; he knew that in some way that what Carl was implying could be true. However, this could only mean one thing. That for some unforeseen reason Sonard must have developed a time lapse that would continue repeating itself until someone broke the chain. However, to break it now could have serious consequence, meaning Adameus knew he must have influenced Nostradamus somewhere in a different time zone, meaning he would have to do the same thing again in order to keep the chain moving.
Adameus continued thinking about the man that Carl had mention, he had once spoken with him and knew he was a physician, and treated the people who were suffering from the plague, that swept through their lands. He had also provided Nostradamus with herbal remedies and chemical compounds, which he used to wash the abscess caused by the plague. Although, he knew Nostradamus was not a philosopher, like Carl had described him as being, which meant it was up to Adameus to teach him the very science he would need to carry the messages through to our own times, in the future.
Carl however, sat their waiting for Adameus to answer his question, whether he would return to their ship and help them find Son
ard, “no I am afraid I cannot come with you”, replied Adameus
“What do mean you can’t and why not?”
“ Because you see Carl if what you say is true, then that means somewhere in the near future I must have done what you said, and influenced this man you call Nostradamus, and since this has not yet happened, leaving now could break the time loop?”
“What time loop!” said Carl?
“Never mind Carl, you must go back to Jeramaya and tell him to travel to the very beginning of mankind. Once he reaches this stage, he is to activate the ships scanner, and continue traveling into the past at a very slow pace. Once he picks up Sonards reception, he could then travel to the precise date where he will find me and Sonard, before we created man as he is today.”
Carl knew Jeramaya would not be pleased if he returned empty handed, and tried hard to convince Adameus to come with him, although Adameus knew he did not have much of a choice. Leaving now could upset the time loop leaving his own race helpless in overcoming the virus that was destroying his very own people.
Finally, Carl agreed to what Adameus proclaimed, although, there still was one slight problem, and that was convincing Adameus to stop experiments all over again in a different time zone. Carl knew it was hard enough convincing him now, let alone when Adameus still trusted Sonard over in another time period. Only Adameus had already thought of that, and handed Carl his ring telling him that once Jeramaya finds him again to show him the ring, and he would know that whatever he says would be the truth.
” Yea right, and what makes you so sure that you would believe us just by showing you this ring?” asked Carl.
“Because no body or mass can occupy the same space, unless it is of the same body?” answer Adameus. “And what the hell is that suppose to mean? “ Said Carl
