Nathan appeared above her and looked up at him, “My mother?” she asked him.

“She’s safe…” he had told her, but she did not hear him as she cried from the pain.

Nathan touched her head, “What do you want me to do Evie?” She saw him mouth.

“Kill me!” she screamed aloud through clenched teeth. Her eyes pleaded with his as her body writhed in pain and then jerked as bones snapped and shifted inside. She rolled to her back and screamed again as she felt a rippling shift in her spine, which sent a pain so excruciating, no technology of this world could measure its intensity.

“I can’t!” she saw him mouth, when her eyes opened again.

Her body jerked again with such force and bent her in an incomprehensible way, all she could do was scream “Nathan…please… kill me!”

She saw Michael stand over her and her eyes darted to him, “Please!” she yelled to him. He nodded and knelt down, but her father growled and the man paused. Nathan reached out and touched the wolf’s head and it looked to him, his eyes communicated his objection.

“She doesn’t want to become one of them!” Michael yelled to him and the wolf turned his head back and growled at him again. He then looked back to Nathan and communicated his wishes.

“He wants me to change her.” Nathan spoke for him.

“But the girl does not want that either…” Michael argued.

Nathan looked at him, “He’s her father and her legal guardian; he has the right to decide for her.” he told him.

“By man’s law… not Gods!” Michael yelled at him.

Another wave of pain shot through Evie’s body and her bones shifted again. She screamed in her mind, but only a howl departed from her mouth.

The wolf nudged Michael’s arm and the vampire looked at him. They stared into each other eyes for a quick moment, but it had been enough. Michael turned and looked to Nathan, “You have my agreement.” He granted him.

As another wave of pain took over her and Evie writhed into her oblivion, Nathan’s hands reached down and tilted her head to the side. With his other hand, he pulled the collar of her jacket away from her neck and exposed the skin. She did not feel the small prick, but instantly felt the fiery burn as it entered her body. It flowed down the veins of her neck and then down the length of her left arm, then shot out across her torso and filled the remainder of her limbs. The incredible pain that plagued her suddenly stopped as did the bones that were breaking and bending. The fiery burn took over its work and ravaged her. Slowly the burning subsided and dissipated as her body became cold and lifeless; her eyes vacant. Evie Patterson was no more.

  The other Vampire…

Evie has now become a vampire, but learns as she goes; she has also become something else. Retaining the traits of her attacker Jonas, Evie not only has the advantages of what comes with the Vampire breed, she now has the advantages of what comes from the werewolf as well; but with a twist. With genetics, no two things form equally and through genetic history passed down from one generation to another; Evie has picked up her father’s traits and when she shifts, instead of becoming the creature the werewolf encompasses, she shifts into a wolf like him, better known as the shape-shifter.

With both characteristics, Evie has created a new species and a greater kind at that. Bending time is no longer a Bender quality, Evie has picked that up too and even more, she can also see as one “bends” which no other Bender can do. When Michael had told Nathan he was the last of their breed, he was right. A new breed has been brought forth, a new and stronger force that would only consist of one and would come in the form of Evangeline.

New trouble comes to Bigfork and to Evie and the others who stand with her. This trouble comes in a form too and he is ready for the challenge and ready for the hunt.

  He is the other vampire…
