Love Again Page 23

by Christina Marie

I looked at the small piece of paper I had written the message on. Dad stepped up beside me, “Ready baby girl?”

  I smiled, “Absolutely!”

“I’m proud of you Lennie, you’re truly an amazing woman.” Dad kissed my cheek.

The violinist started playing the Wedding March, Jadra and Corrina walked barefoot through the sand to the front. Dad and I each smiled as we slowly walked up to where Dominique and Trevor were standing. Our wedding was very small and simple, but Dominique insisted we get married in Cancun. One look at him dressed in a pair of kaki cargo shorts that hung low on his hips and a pale blue V-neck t-shirt made my mouth water.

Dad kissed me before placing my hand in Dominique’s, the slip of paper now rested in the palm of his hand. I smiled at him then turned to face the pastor that was ready to bless us in marriage.

Lennie looked exactly the way she had in my dream years back. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her as she walked toward me. Her dark red hair in thick curls down her back, the sun casting a glow over her skin and her green eyes sparkled with happiness.

With her hand in mine we turned to face the pastor, I felt something tickle my palm. The pastor was reading a verse from the bible; I slipped my hand from Lennie’s to see what she had put in my hand. There was a slip of paper folded in half, I looked at her and she smiled but didn’t look directly at me. As the pastor continued to talk, I opened the small paper and squinted to read the beautiful handwriting of Lennie’s.

Surprise, I’m pregnant! I love you!

I looked at Lennie, she was looking at me out the corner of her eye with a growing smile on her face. I slipped the note into my pocket and stepped in front of her, I cupped her face in my hands and slammed my lips against hers so hard our teeth tapped against each other’s.

“Sir…” the pastor said with a chuckle and tapped me on the shoulder. “If you can wait just a few more minutes I’ll let you share the wonderful news.”

I pulled away from Lennie, “I love you.” I wiped a smudge of lipstick from under her bottom lip.

“Carry on.” I said to the pastor. I moved to stand beside Lennie, my hand wrapped tightly around hers.

I couldn’t stop kissing my wife, as we swayed to Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking out Loud’. My hands cupping her face caressing her beautiful face and her hands fisting my shirt. No amount of money or fame could ever make me as happy as I was this very second.

Lennie smiling broke our kiss, “Thank you for loving me again.”

I brushed the tear away, “I never stopped and I never will stop loving you.”

  The End
