A musical version of “Pentatina for Five Vowels,” by jazz composer Dan Peter Sundland, can be found on his 2013 album, Elevenette, while recorded versions of several of these poems can be found online, at the Poetry Foundation website, among others.
The inscription for Part Four, here, is from “Infinite Needs,” the rest of which can be found in Pax Atomica.
Among many such obligations, “Birds and Trees” is indebted to Pablo Neruda’s rhetorical verve, “Sleepwork” owes its form to Terrance Hayes’s dexterous imagination, and “Reading Emily Dickinson at Jiffy Lube” tips its cap to the titling strategy of Ariel Francisco.
