Distracting her, Seth rolled over yet another time. He had tossed and turned and mumbled in his restless state ever since she’d arrived here. She wanted to touch him, wanted to smooth his furrowed brow, wanted to kiss him and so much more.
Disgusted with herself for taking so long to get his attention, she sucked in a steely breath and waved a hand to turn on every light in the room. Overkill, yes, but so what.
As light filled the room, Seth’s eyes fluttered open. He shot up in bed, looking around warily and every bit the dangerous male he could be.
His gaze landed on her where she’d settled onto the dresser across the room. She wore a gossamer gown, having decided to give him some of her faery effect. While she waited for some kind of judgment, her stomach knotted and her heart raced. Her voice echoed with strain as she asked, “So, just how mad are you at me?”
He blinked, frowned, confused. “Teri?”
She considered jumping down and running to the bed. Instead she watched him cautiously. “Yes.” That’s the best you can do? Really?
Longing warmed his eyes and she sensed him fighting the urge to come to her. He wanted answers, needed them. She slid off the dresser, fully aware that her gown was see-through and he could see her naked body without any trouble. What he couldn’t see were her wings, which she so seldom used. With a small sigh of resignation, she thought them into appearing.
He blinked again, his eyes appearing to double in size. “Wings?” he croaked.
Her face heated. “They’re stupid, I know. I don’t usually bring them out.”
“Wings?” He appeared focused on that issue, unable to move his gaze from the delicate, feathery wings that spanned a good six feet.
She fluttered them and stepped toward him. “Faery. Get it now? I’m a faery. Faery princess, actually.”
Seth gaped at her, knew she must think him an idiot. She was a faery? And he was a wolf shifter. How would that work? Then he thought about how they’d made love…okay had sort of rough sex. Evidently it could work between them. But a wolf and a gentle being like her?
“Well, are you going to say anything? Or did I make a huge mistake coming here?” She looked worried, appeared ready to disappear on him again.
“Don’t you dare leave!” he snapped and climbed off the bed. He didn’t care if he was naked. Hell, with that sheer gown, she practically was too. Which was fine with him.
Her chin shot up. She had never liked being told what to do, but he planned on ticking her off for the rest of their lives. If she would have him. But then she’d come back here, so maybe…
“Why are you here?” He stopped in front of her, drew in her scent, felt her heat. The beast in him wanted out to play, but that part of him would never touch her, never take her.
She heaved a sigh and her breasts captured his attention. “Because this is where I belong. If you want me here, that is.”
He couldn’t resist any longer and pulled her against him. His hard cock rubbed between them and he heard her quiet sigh. She threw her arms around him and her wings fluttered, drawing his attention again. He found them fascinating.
“Can I touch them?” he asked and then felt foolish.
Her cheeks turned pink, as if embarrassed. He gave her a gentle smile. “They’re beautiful, like you.”
She preened at that. “Yes, you may touch them.”
When he gently fingered one of the wings, she purred as if he were caressing her. Then she slowly made them disappear. After that she made her gown disappear.
She looked up at him, her eyes dark with desire. “So after you burn my bottom, as I know you want to do, will you…” She moved her lower body against him, which made him even harder.
He scooped her up and tossed her on the bed. “Let’s reverse that. I need to have you right now.”
Seth followed her down, stretched over her trembling body, shuddering in need, too. She’d come back to him. He wanted to know all about her, including what had happened with her mother. Later. None of that mattered now.
“We’ll get to that butt burning later.” He leaned down to kiss her chin. “Maybe tomorrow.” He kissed her mouth, that too tempting mouth. “Or the next day.” He tugged on her lower lip with his teeth. “After I’ve had my fill of you…or you of me.”
Teri curled her legs around him and gently cupped his beard-roughened face. “I’ll never have my fill of you. I’m here for as long as you want me.”
“Forever,” he growled. He let his shaft ease between her legs, savored the moisture he found there. She wanted him, too. “You’re mine forever.”
