The Other End of the Leash Page 24

“Oh, you’re gonna get it now!” I said laughing.

“KADE!” she screamed, while laughing, when I grabbed her wrist, making her drop it and the water cut off. I twisted her around so that her back was to me. I was about to keep tickling her when I noticed we weren’t alone. Both Seth and Kennedy were standing in the kitchen, their jaws on the floor.

“We uh, we were just getting the food ready.”

Kennedy’s eyes left my face and moved slowly to the floor where half a dozen slices of potatoes lay. “I can see that. Interesting method.” She spoke in a deadpan voice, but she couldn’t hold back the smile.

“Well, shit. Guess we’ve gotta cut up a few more, Babygirl.” I gave Raven a squeeze.

“I’ll do that and clean these up.”

  “I can help,” I said.

“I really can do it. I’ll meet you out back when I’m done, okay?”

“Sure,” I said giving her a kiss on the cheek and a slap on the ass that made her yelp.

  “Going soft?” Seth asked.

“May I show them?” I asked. It was a bit silly to ask since both of them had seen her ass countless times, but she didn’t have her tail in, and I didn’t want to treat her like a submissive when she had her walls down.

  “Yes,” she answered softly.

I lifted the back of her dress exposing her ass.

  Seth and Kennedy inhaled sharply.

“Okay, we’re going to be on the deck. Don’t be more than a few minutes.”

We left her in the kitchen and headed outside. I gave each of them a beer and we sat on my patio furniture overlooking my backyard. All three of us were silent for a few minutes sipping our beers. I knew their heads were filled with questions. I was just waiting for them to come out.

Seth spoke first, “So she can talk. How...when?”

“She talks when her tail is out. We’d started communicating using sign language when she got here.”

“She knows sign language?” Seth interrupted.

“No… I mean, she knows a little bit of it now. I’ve been teaching her, and it was working. She would sign please, bath and tired, hungry, and a few other things. It was going well, but then she got hurt. Even then, we used sign language, but the injury seemed to make us closer. I’d asked her if she wanted to go to dinner and she agreed. It was a surprise that she’d removed her tail and an even bigger one when she spoke.”

“She just started talking?” Kennedy asked.

“Yep, I told her she looked beautiful and she said thank you. I nearly drove off of the road.”

  Kennedy laughed.

“Took her to this little restaurant, had what felt like a first date.”

“Little seafood place a few minutes from here?”

I furrowed my brow. “Yeah, how did you know?”

“Went to take her there the day I picked you up,” Seth replied. “I was starving. I asked if she wanted to stop to eat there and she burst into tears. At least it makes sense now.”

Well, if that didn’t make me feel more like shit. Then again, I wasn’t going to dwell on the past. She and I communicated well now.

“So you talked all the time after that?” Kennedy asked, bringing us back on topic.

“Well, in a way, yeah. She still wears her tail sometimes. She likes it.”

“And her ass. Tell me that wasn’t a punishment for something.”

“No fucking way. You know me better than that. That was her reward. That was me claiming her as mine. She loves the marks.”

Seth smiled. “I bet she does. She seems really happy here.”

“I think she is. I know I am.”

Raven came out right after that and sat on my lap. The three of us talked, though Raven didn’t say much.

I made steaks and the potatoes. We ate and went to the river to swim, though Kennedy insisted it was too cold. I told her that it was just that she didn’t want everyone to see her nude.

Raven and I swam though while Seth and Kennedy sat on shore and talked. When Raven and I got out of the water, Seth asked for a minute with her. The two of them went off a bit to talk. I sat down next to Kennedy.

  “You look good,” she said.

“Thank you,” I replied flexing my muscles.

“Not that, you idiot,” she said laughing and swatting at my arm. “I meant that you look happy, finally at peace.”

I glanced over at Raven who was sitting next to Seth. They were talking and she seemed happy and interested. I wasn’t jealous. I knew she’d stay with me now. It was good to know that she could still get along with Seth. That had been important to me. “I never knew it could be like this. I never knew I could want someone this much and still be okay with sharing her. I can’t imagine ever being without her.”

“So you’re in love with her,” Kennedy half stated, half asked.

“No, well, yeah, I guess I am.” I looked over at Raven. I was in love with her. The impossible had happened, I’d found a woman to love. I thought she loved me back too, though I wasn’t sure. There was plenty of time for that though. I was in no rush. The two of us would explore together, taking our time, savoring our developing relationship.

She looked up at me just then, the light catching her hair making it glow copper. She was the one. She’d turned my world upside down and righted it again.

I knew then that there would be twists and turns, though I didn’t realize how big of twists and turns they’d be or how much I should have tried to hold onto that moment, but that’s for another story.˛
