Derrick fell in love with Emma, that commitment scared him at first, but she was worth the risk. He also, pushed away the riskier parts of his life. He turned his attention on the surf shop. They decided together to make an honest business of it. Emma over time joined him at the shop and together built a business they both enjoyed and could be proud of together. He imagined a family one day but was in no hurry. Life was good for both them and they each realized that love wasn’t a mirage after all.

If you are curious about Simone and Brody, you can read their second chance romance, Forge in the Heart. It is available at Amazon, https://amzn.to/2pMG2zq
Here is a sneak peek from Forge in the Heart:
The meeting lasted for over ninety minutes. Brody had to admit, with Freestone’s lap dog watching over them, they got a lot accomplished. The fact that Harris added nothing, barely said two words, only confirmed that he had been there to monitor Simone’s activities with him. He did wonder how far Harris would go in monitoring them.
When the meeting ended, he lingered waiting for Harris to leave. He didn’t. Brody stood there waiting for Simone to make a move or say something. Simone gave him a pleading look. He wasn’t sure what she was asking, but figured she wanted to leave. Brody glanced at his watch and looked back at Simone.
“I have another appointment I need to get to; I will catch up with you later, Simone.” He looked at Harris and nodded, “Pleasure meeting you.”
Simone graciously thanked him and Harris barely acknowledged him. When the door closed behind him, he paused to listen if there was anything being said. He could pick up Simone’s voice and she wasn’t happy, she said something about him not following her everywhere. Harris said something about doing what her father told him to do.
That was it. The old man didn’t approve. How he caught on was immaterial, the fact is, he would try to block him or them from getting entangled. He turned and started to walk down the hall to leave. He gazed up and saw the sign for the bathrooms. Brody’s lips curled into a mischievous grin. It was bold and dangerous.
He pulled out his cell and found Simone’s number and tapped out a text. “Woman’s bathroom, last stall, now.”
Before darting into the bathroom. He checked for cameras, none. No one else was in the hall as he slipped in.
Brody listened carefully as the bathroom door opened. The stuttering of clicking heels told him it was her. When the door opened. He didn’t wait. His hand snapped out and grabbed her arm. Simone yelped and Brody had only one way to quiet her.
His hand reeled her in. He looked at her and before any words could be exchanged, he kissed her ravenously. He didn’t care if they were seen or not. When she whimpered and pressed her body into him. He knew then, all was right with the world.
Simone was his.
