Morning's Light (Cavaldi Birthright Book 2) Page 15

by Brea Viragh

“My parents raised me to know my own mind. To acknowledge my feelings and emotions. I don’t play when I don’t think my heart is in the game.” He glanced over at her, resting his forearms on the countertop and setting his eyes on her mouth. “I want to be with you. More, I want to be the kind of man you think can be with you. A man who is confident enough and open enough to tell you what’s on his mind without feeling intimidated.”

She liked the way he spoke. She liked the way he looked even more, his grin quick and careless despite the severity of his words.

“I’m not going to stop trying. I know you feel the same, or you wouldn’t have let me kiss you. Twice.” He chuckled. “You would have bitten my head off for getting within ten feet of you. I want my hands on you. I want you wet and naked— Well, fuck it, I just want you.”

He never had a chance to say more before she was on him. She placed her lips on his in a kiss designed to quiet and soothe the raging swell of emotions inside her. Elon stood still under her ministrations, shock causing his body to stiffen.

She teased him, nibbling lightly with her teeth before soothing the little aches with her tongue. Tilting her head, Aisanna kept her eyes open to watch his reaction. She hadn’t expected the heat to rise in an instant. To engulf her as surely as it fanned to life in him.

It took half a second for Elon to relax and trail his fingers along her spine, draw her closer inch by inch. A groan rose in his throat. He didn’t need magic to make her world spin.

  It was a heady thought.

She coaxed a response and stopped, leaning back to survey the stupefied look on Elon’s face. Riding the tide of emotion, she felt the stirrings deep within her. She was hornier than a teenager on prom night, fumbling to get her shirt off.

“What do you think?” She let the pajama top drop to the floor. Israel had thrown away her bra with the rest of her ruined clothes and now her breasts hung full and heavy and exposed for Elon’s approval. “Suddenly I’m full of energy. Must have been the soup.”

Elon devoured her with his gaze. It felt like a dream come true. He rubbed his face; surely he’d fallen asleep on the couch and was now in the middle of a most delicious dream. She couldn’t be real, leaning against his counter and peering at him with those hooded eyes. Her pink tongue did not just dart from between perfect lips to moisten and beckon him forward.

  “Elon?”

He jumped to attention at the sound of her voice. The melodious tone was music to his ears, lyrical in a way no other woman managed. His nipples hardened painfully and he let himself look at her. She was wearing his pajama pants—ridiculously big—her feet dwarfed by his slippers and a faint smile on her lips. He’d never seen her look more beautiful.

Her hair wasn’t perfect. She wasn’t wearing makeup. Still the shimmer of desire took him. He drew in her scent a moment before she reached to touch him. His breath caught on a sigh. Her body leaned into his, arching maddeningly as she reached around to trail her fingers along his arm.

“I threw the beer out,” he murmured, turning his head toward her. “But I think I’m still feeling the effects.”

The mischief in her eyes shifted to razor-sharp intensity. “This isn’t magic.”

“No, I know. My brain turned off. I’m not thinking clearly.”

His knees felt a bit wobbly and his eyes tracked the minutiae of her movements, the way her throat convulsed when she swallowed. The sight of her, the touch of sweetness she added to the air, was a seduction in its own right. Already he ached to hold her, his hands trembling.

Then he yanked her toward him to ravish her mouth and forgot about his knees. Or any thought that she might regret this in the morning.

Using his slight hesitation for her own gain, Aisanna leaned forward and kissed him. Colors exploded behind his eyes. Then she did her best to climb him.

“You deserve more.” He whipped her around to set her rear on the counter. “You deserve seduction and candlelight—”

He cut off at her nervous giggle.

“If I fall apart,” she told him in a whisper, “will you be there to catch me?”

She nipped his ear and Elon lost the capacity for logical thought. “Aisanna, what are you doing to me?” He managed, barely, to keep his touch light, his hands cupping her hips.

“Say you want me.” Her mouth moved against his before trailing down his throat, paying close attention to the stubble around his Adam’s apple. “Say it.”

Every touch of her lips drew an answering rush through him. “You know I do.” He moaned, his pants suddenly way too tight. “Oh God, I want you more than anything else.”

Aisanna wound a leg around his waist and pressed herself closer. He felt her heat against his core. “Good.”

With every ounce of restraint he possessed, and drawing on some that he didn’t have, Elon eased back. “Are you sure you want to do this now?” he asked, his mouth inches from hers. He clasped his hands on her chin and angled his forehead to rest against her own. “Are you sure?”

The question was weighted. If she said no, he doubted his ability to stop. If she said yes…holy hell, if she said yes…

“I’ve never been more sure of anything.”

Elon took her at her word and drew her close. His lips pressed down, kneading and tempting while yet anther question played there.

How could this be true? And what would be the consequences?

  “Bed,” she whispered.

He grabbed her hand and they stumbled down the hallway, each eager to get the other’s clothes off. Her laughter rang in his ears.

She looped her arms around his neck, allowing him to pick her up and carry her the last few steps. The man had skills. Already she gave in to him, opened her mouth to him and felt the sweep of his tongue against hers. He knew how to move, where to touch to please her, how to angle his head until she shot to the moon.

“Take off those pants.” She demanded it. Her laugh grew louder when he lost his balance and tumbled them both down just outside the door to the bedroom. They landed in a heap on the floor.

“Hold on, hold on,” he chanted while her fingers worked busily to push his pants the rest of the way down. “Give me a second—”

Elon managed to scoot and roll until he kicked the offending pajama bottoms off.

“Better. You feel so good.” Her admission was a gusty sigh.

The room was filled with soft light from the streetlamps outside. The floor was hard, but neither one of them noticed. Elon tore at her bottoms, rolling and tugging until he drew them below her hips. He didn’t care when his favorite pair of PJs fluttered to the floor, stretched and torn.

The delicious sight of creamy skin rewarded him. He caught glimpses of bruises and vowed to gentle his touch. To woo her the way she deserved instead of a reckless coupling on the floor. She was smooth, soft curves. Delicate lines. He saw a small mole on her hip and it was enough to send his heart into a flutter. He couldn’t wait to explore it in depth.

His fingertips danced along her skin. “And now you look better. Jesus, can a man die just from the sight of your breasts?” Drawn to the view, he moved his lips to the cleavage before taking a nipple into his mouth.

Aisanna swallowed a gasp and her fingers dug into his shoulders, colors dancing before her eyes. “Elon!”

He had to have her. She shuddered beneath him and he stifled her cry with a kiss.

White-hot heat curled around his nerve endings until they were raw and electric. The longing pushed him toward a place where he knew he would never recover from her.

Aisanna arched underneath him. Her nails bit lines into his back and his skin felt over-sensitized, each touch setting off a tidal wave of sensation.

He swallowed when she effortlessly reversed their roles to use her mouth on him. Plump lips explored as she nuzzled her way across his skin. His need for her grew until he thought of nothing else except the desire to feel her. Feel her so close he would be forever imprinted with the feeling of her, the line
s of her body and the curves of her face. His erection, already rigid to the point of pain, twanged and felt ready to burst.

Not yet, he berated himself, not now after waiting this long to have her. She rose to her feet and stood in front of him with a delightful blush coloring her body, and Elon fought hard not to fall on his knees and thank God.

Whatever had made her come around, he would not question it.

He’d never had that sort of immediate reaction to someone.

“Do you want me?” she asked again, knowing the answer.

He stood, pulling her to him, and was driven mad when she began to roll her hips against his. “Yes. Oh, yes.”

Elon led her to the bed and reverently bade her lie down, positioned so he could look his fill. She opened her mouth to say something, but he had his lips on her again. Elon took the time to sample her and commit her taste to memory. Slightly sweet with a hint of salt and musk, Aisanna was a gift. A gift he’d taken great pains to convince himself he would never receive. She knew her power, her worth, and most likely had a bevy of eligible men lined up, vying for her attention.

He shook his head. She was here with him. This was their moment. Those other nameless men, if they existed, had no business standing between them now. He gripped her breast in one hand and rolled the nipple between his fingers, savoring her moans.

Elon leaned his head down to take the peak into his mouth. Aisanna growled her approval and grasped his erection in her delicate hand, giving it a firm squeeze. For a moment, he saw stars. His eyes crossed.

“I want you. Now,” she demanded. “I want to feel you.”

His lips moved once more to the vulnerable column of her throat and down further to the frantic beating of her heart. He felt the pulse through her satiny skin. His arms tightened possessively, pinning her between him and the bed in an unbreakable hold. “Are you sure—”

“Elon, I swear if you ask me that one more time, I’m going to leave!”

A wolfish grin and beckoning finger drew him forward again. Where she touched him, he burned. Her legs wrapped around his waist and pressed his cock against her waiting heat.

She placed one arm around his neck, pulling him down so she could kiss him again. Elon considered himself quite adept at multitasking. One hand worked her breasts while the other traveled south, rubbing lightly against her.

“Are you ready for me?” he asked, his breathing ragged.

He felt her nod against him as he maneuvered to plunge a finger into her moist heat. Aisanna cried out again at the sudden intrusion, her lady parts clenching and her gasp transitioning to aroused pants. Her wetness drew him on, fingers sliding in and out with ease. She moved in time with the motion.

His hands became rougher on her, the monster inside him impatient to have her. Her hands were still on him and driving him mad. He kissed her almost savagely while his tongue thrust into her mouth.

She broke away from him for a moment; her skin was red, chafed from the harsh ministrations of his lips and facial hair. Her eyes were wild and her hair mussed around her beautiful face like an auburn cloud. She grinned again, biting her lower lip with her teeth. She took his throbbing penis in hand, guiding it against her.

“Now,” she repeated. Her breathing came in ragged gasps. “Please, please.”

Elon spread her legs apart. With a snarl, he cupped her rear to raise her up. She offered him no resistance, pressing her half-naked breasts into his chest and begging him to touch her. All coherent thought left his head. He held back a moment to appreciate the masterpiece he beheld. His head spun like he’d gotten on a lunatic’s carousel ride.

Aisanna opened for him and he plunged. He let his body take over, his mind fly free, and then there was nothing but the relentless need to become one with her.

She could have been made of marble, the way her unblemished porcelain skin glowed in the moonlight. Aisanna was a woman who should always be seen in moonlight, the silvery incandescence shining against her until she appeared to glow.

Then he took her in his arms and pulled her up. She had no choice but to wrap her legs around him and hold on. She was hot, tighter than he’d expected. Her sheath squeezed around him and slowly expanded to accommodate his girth. Her back arched and she cried out at the unexpected size of him, stretching like a bow beneath his hands.

Elon used his strength to his advantage, holding her in his arms for leverage as he plunged. His hips thrust forward until he hit her limit.

She whimpered against him, her mouth close to his ear, and cried out in triumph at the climax ripping through her unexpectedly. It made the moment sweeter.

He couldn’t think, couldn’t form words to describe his lust, his desire for her. Or how deliciously wicked she was. He gave himself over to the primitive beast within men. She was his mate, his lover.

  His.

Their bodies moved together in a primal dance as old as time. If she pulled back a little, if her eyes held the hint of tears, he did not notice. They made love until sweat slicked their skin and breathing became labored. Until Elon felt something tightening inside of him.

Aisanna squirmed against him and met him thrust for thrust. He fisted one hand in her hair, tugging so he had access to her neck.

“Yes, yes, yes…” she ground out, timed to each thrust.

Elon couldn’t contain himself a moment longer. The feel of her was too much. He took them both higher, close to the edge, bending his head to lap at her nipple. His hands touched her possessively.

She clung to him, unwilling to stop, throwing her head back. Her hair flowed around them. The silken strands brushed at his bare skin, sensations already heightened.

“Just do it,” she told him.

  “Are you sure?”

“I said do it! I’m a witch and can hex you, remember? Are you really going to argue?”

So Elon allowed himself to go over the edge, bucking wildly. His body spasmed.

She held him while he orgasmed. His fingers bit into her thighs, her hips, scoring her to the bone and leaving tender circles in their wake. They both breathed heavily, leaning against each other until their sweat mingled, their hearts slowed to tick in unison.

Then they fell back onto the bed, exhausted. Replete.

  CHAPTER 12

  The windowpanes had fogged.

That was his first coherent thought when he looked up. The scent of her, of them together, perfumed the air and had him ready to go again. And again.

Aisanna let out an exhausted laugh and he added his deep chuckle to it, leaning his forehead against hers. “Wow.” It wasn’t the most eloquent statement but it was all he could muster in the moment.

He couldn’t take his eyes from her, tightening his grip, still hard inside of her. Every time she chuckled he felt the echo of it down below. His ears were ringing and he couldn’t get his mind clear.

Should he be worried about temporary paralysis?

Her chest rose and fell in time with his. He leaned in to nuzzle her throat. “That was amazing. Not to emasculate myself,” he said.

Aisanna said nothing, wiggling to extract herself from his embrace. “I’m cold.”

Chill bumps rose on her skin and caused the pale strands of hair to stand on end. Elon felt instantly contrite at his handling of her. Someone like Aisanna deserved love and affection. Not fervent hands and rough sex.

“Let me help.” Elon mustered enough energy to roll over, pulling her with him until she was cushioned against his chest. He used his right hand to drag the blanket closer and flicked his wrist until it covered her lower half.

“Thanks. I know it’s stupid to complain, but I can’t find the energy to move.” She lifted her head and shook her hair away from her face. “You’ve got style, Fayer. Every time I think I have a handle on you, every time I think I know how to handle you, you throw me off my game. You’re everything I told myself to stay away from.”

“In what way?” He stroked his hands down her shoulders and arms.

&nb
sp; “You’re my employee, for one.” She ticked off the reasons on her fingers, punctuating each with a smoldering kiss. “You’re younger than me.” Another smooch.

“What’s age got to do with anything?” he protested.

  “And you’re a human.” Smooch.

“I might not have literal magic running through my veins, but I’m not unaware of it. I’m not like every other person, moving blindly through an empty world. At least, not anymore. What you have is a great gift and I’m lucky to know you.” His fingers squeezed gently before continuing to trace patterns along her skin.

“I don’t want anything to happen to you.” She leaned down and kissed him again, then scrambled to her feet.

Elon threw his arms behind his head. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you actually care.”

She tossed a look over her shoulder. “You question me? You shouldn’t.”

He watched her saunter out of the room. If anyone saw her walking around like that, they’d haul her in for indecent exposure. Still, he couldn’t tear his eyes off of the sweet sway of her rear. Catching up, he tossed the blanket over his shoulders and grinned at her bed head.

“I don’t know about you, but soup isn’t cutting it right now. With the scent of curry in the air, I gotta tell you, I may be in the mood for some chicken tikka masala.”

His stomach growled in answer. “It happens to me all the time. I probably account for half of their business on my own.” He scrambled after her.

She stopped in the kitchen, moonlight still filtering through the large picture window over the sink. Elon leaned his hip against the table and watched her. She was unbearably tempting, the red tones of her hair turning to fire in the light, her milky pale skin shimmering. Then she turned her gaze to him and their eyes met. The intensity was so concentrated it took his breath. And for a moment, he could have sworn she sparkled.
