True cut her father off with a glare. “I’m fully healed. The doctors gave me the okay button. But right now, this is between me and Lawrence. If you have a problem with him, you don’t have to walk me down the aisle; I’m sure grandpa would.”
Her mother reached over and took her hand. “How about a Christmas wedding? We can decorate with poinsettias, candles...” her mother stopped as he father rose and moved around the table to where she sat.
He gently took her hand and pulled her up into his arms, hugging her. “No one will give my baby away but me. I’m sorry I disappointed you. I should have protected you better. I’ll never forgive myself for that one as long as I shall live.” He pulled back and stared down at her. “I got caught up with the pack, and I shouldn’t have. They haven’t been a part of our lives for a long time, and I remember why now.” He glanced at her mom. “Your mother reminded me a few days ago what happened to us when we first got married. It won’t happen again, I promise all of you.” Her father turned his attention on Lawrence once more.
She held her breath as her father held out his hand to Lawrence. “Welcome to the family, and I know you will take great care of my daughter where I failed to.”
Lawrence nodded and shook her father’s hand. “I know what protecting her means, and she will have a life filled with love.” He turned his cat eyes on her. “And many, many children if I can help it.”
True shook her head and smiled. “Fine, but I hope they’re all girls just like me with your eyes, so they give their daddy a good scare a day.”
Lion man growled as her parents laughed. “Any child with you would be perfect, but we will have some boys in there. After all, I will not be the only male in the house. I need someone else to help take care of all those little girls.”
She laughed as a serving tray filled with sandwiches and fruit was placed on a table next to them as her boss moved up the stairs. Both men rose as she approached.
“Sit.” She waved her hand and turned to her father. “I have a gift for my friend here. My sisters and I have always been ones to hide, not enjoy life until your daughter came into our office. She has shown us how to live, even with the responsibilities we have. For our gift to her for their joining, the four of you are now immortal as will your children be.” Moirai turned to her and smiled. “We can’t lose the one who showed us the way to live. Even our parents have agreed. Enjoy and Happy Halloween to you all,” her boss said before vanishing into thin air.
True looked over at Lawrence, who was obviously just as shocked as she was. “Now, that was really scary,” her lion man said, which, of course, her boss retaliated by dumping a pile of pumpkin guts over his head before disappearing again.
True laughed so hard tears were falling down her face. “Oh, we are going to have a wonderful life with such good friends.” She giggled.
He turned his golden cat eyes and mouthed “spanking” to her, and at once, the hormones in her body came to life as if Lawrence had called them, owning them as he did her, body and soul, her lion man. After all, the Blue Moon had fulfilled its prophecy, a new child and couple had danced under its spell.
