“Don’t you let go of that rail!” Bianca yelled in a shrill voice. “I can’t get a grip. I’m slipping! Help ... please hurry!”
Bianca tried to climb up Raegan’s body, causing Raegan grip to loosen. “Stop it ... stop.”
Raegan twisted her body, causing Bianca to completely lose her grip and go plummeting to the floor below.
The sickening sound as Bianca’s body completed the fifty-foot drop made Raegan close her eyes as Brelin and the guards finally approached her. Brelin rushed past the guards and reached his arm down to pull Raegan up.
“Grab my hand!” he shouted. Raegan reached up and when their hands connected she knew that he wouldn’t let her go. He pulled her up onto the tier and she collapsed into him, sobbing hysterically.
“Raegan, on the ground!” one of the COs yelled.
“What?” she asked as she was snatched out of Brelin’s arms. Like a deer in headlights Raegan protested. “No! Wait! Brelin! Help me! Please ... it was a mistake,” she said. She looked over the edge and saw a pool of blood circling around Bianca’s body. “Please don’t let them do this!” she yelled at Brelin, who was stressfully yelling at the head correctional officer.
He turned to Raegan and yelled, “Stop resisting, Raegan! I’ll get you out of here! I promise! I’ll take care of it.
Within the blink of an eye she had caught a body and contributed to a murder that would stop her from tasting the freedom she so desperately yearned for. It seemed no matter how hard Raegan searched for redemption, it eluded her. Now she was certain that her life was over and she could forget about ever reuniting with the loves of her life. They were going to hit her with more charges and lock her away for the rest of her life. She was about to lose everything for a second time. Just when Nahvid and her son would forget about her for good... .
