“I’m glad they made their appearance because now I have another excuse to caress those lips.” He laughed and drew her closer. “I’ll always protect you from them,” he said in a low voice. She snuggled in his arms. His body tingled. He took a deep breath before forcing himself away from her. “I suppose we should go, shouldn’t we? Besides, we’re taking a chance even behind these trees that someone could see us.”
“Oh pooh, I don’t want to stop.”
“You little tease.” He lifted her up in his arms a second before gracefully setting her back to earth. “We’re going to live happy ever after and have lots of children roaming around us if we don’t stop.” He chuckled. Her eyelids flickered.
“I hope so,” she murmured.
“Me, too.” His lips curved up into a smile. He gave her a quick kiss on her brow then took her warm and tender hand and led her to his buckboard.
