“I want to feel you inside me,” whispered Nikki.

“Not yet,” whispered Anna as she ran her hands over Nikki's buttocks. She began to kiss her once more as she let her hands roam freely over Nikki's entire body. She reached down with her left hand and pulled Nikki's thigh up toward her. Nikki placed her leg around Anna when prompted while Anna pushed her body into her feeling her wetness against her own. They both groaned.

Anna reached down with her right hand to feel how wet Nikki was for her, then teased her clit with two fingers in a circular motion. Nikki's clit was fully erect, and she was bursting with excitement. “Please,” she begged. “I want you.” She was nearly breathless.

Anna wanted to tease her; she wanted her to need her, to want her, to beg for it. But she was also wanting more than anything to slide her fingers inside of her, to feel her hips moving to the rhythm of her hand. It was all she had been able to think about since she first heard the shower running. She wanted to pleasure Nikki as much as Nikki wanted her right now. There was nothing more beautiful or more sexy than wanting someone as much as they wanted you.

Anna kissed her once more, deeply and passionately, then slid her fingers inside of her massaging her gently as she moaned in ecstasy. She moved her hips to Anna's gentle rhythmic motion, then slowly increased in speed as Anna began to slide in and out of her faster and harder. She moaned loudly, “Oh, Anna, I'm gonna cum.” Then all at once, the sensation of orgasm filled her entire body like thousands of exploding fireworks within her soul. She continued to groan and push her body into Anna until the feeling subsided. They continued to pleasure one another, and it felt as if time suddenly stood still. They were lost in one another kissing, caressing, touching, and making love for several hours before they decided to continue their love making in bed where they spent the remainder of the night until dawn.

  Chapter Thirty-Nine

By morning, Nikki awoke to the aroma of coffee, pancakes, sausage links, and something that smelled cheesy.

“Mmmm, something smells delicious. What is that?” she asked trying to unravel herself from the bed covers. She sat up sleepily, holding the sheet and comforter up to her chest to cover her breasts.

“I wasn't sure what you wanted for breakfast today, so I thought I'd surprise you. I ordered coffee, pancakes, toast, sausage, a ham and cheese omelet, and French toast.”

Nikki smirked. “What are you going to eat?”

“I'm not picky. I thought I'd eat what you didn't, so if you want the pancakes today, I'll take the French toast.”

“I don't know if I want to choose. I want it all. How about we split everything in half?”

Anna grinned. “Sure,” she said as she sipped on her morning coffee. “After breakfast I have something amazing planned.”

“I thought I dreamt you were on the phone,” said Nikki sleepily.

“No, it wasn't a dream. It was me calling to make some reservations. I was hoping to get some reservations in the afternoon, but they were all booked. I was lucky that someone canceled, so we have to be there by nine.”

Nikki stood up fully nude, then walked over to the closet to retrieve the white terry-cloth hotel bathrobe. She placed it on, then tied the robe shut before sitting down on the edge of the bed to eat breakfast. The food was still steaming and the warmth of the rising steam tickled her senses making her stomach grumble.

Anna sat in a chair near the hotel room desk fully dressed and reading the newspaper. Her hair was neatly combed but still wet from the morning's fresh shower.

“Where did you get that paper?” asked Nikki as she poured Maple syrup over her pancakes, then cut a big piece with her fork.

“It was on the breakfast tray when they brought it in. It's complimentary with every stay.”

Nikki was still chewing on her food, when she partially covered her mouth to speak. “Did they find the winner yet?” she asked, trying to get a glimpse of the front page.

“What winner?” Anna had no clue of what she was talking about.

“Every single day for the past few months they've been talking about how there is unclaimed lottery money. Didn't you hear? There was a big state lottery and there were two winners. One of the winners was a waitress in some tiny town I've never heard of in Georgia or Florida or some place.” She swallowed her food, then took a sip of her coffee. “They said the other winner was someone here in Texas, but they didn't know who because they never came forward.”

“That's weird. Why wouldn't they come forward?” Anna searched for any articles relating to the lottery, but couldn't find any. Maybe they had finally stopped writing about it.

Nikki took another bite of her pancakes, then washed it down with coffee once more. “I don't know. I thought it was suspicious. Like what if it's someone that has a warrant out for their arrest and is scared to come out in public to make themselves known. They're just sitting around with that lottery ticket burning a hole in their pocket wishing they could claim it, but they're too chicken to come forward.”

Anna laughed. “You sure do have an active imagination, you know that?” She put her newspaper down on the desk, then wheeled her office chair close to the tray of food. She cut the omelet in half with her fork, then placed her portion beside the order of French toast. It smelled of cinnamon and powdered sugar. She poured some syrup on the French toast, then pushed a wedge onto Nikki's plate. “Here, you said you wanted to share.”

“Do you want some of this?” asked Nikki motioning down to her half eaten plate of pancakes. She'd already forgotten that she was supposed to share them.

Anna laughed again. “No, that's okay. You go ahead and eat those. I can tell you woke up hungry.”

Nikki smirked. “I guess someone gave me quite the workout last night, so I worked up an appetite.” She winked at Anna who grinned.

“I plead the fifth,” she said still beaming.

“Let me jump in the shower, so we can head out. I'm excited to get out in the sunshine today.” Nikki drank down the rest of her coffee, then grabbed some clean clothes out of her bag and headed into the bathroom to take a shower.

Anna shook her head and smiled as she looked at all the breakfast food that still remained. She knew she had ordered too much. She ate half of the omelet and a piece of French toast while Nikki showered, then waited patiently for Nikki to emerge from the bathroom.

Once ready, both women headed out the door in search of a new adventure.

As they walked down the hallway and toward the elevator, Anna began to giggle, “So did you try to count all the stars in the meteor shower last night?”

Nikki shook her head. “No, smart butt because they weren't stars; they were meteors.”

Anna was still laughing. “Oh okay, well, were you counting all the meteors?”

Nikki wrapped her arms around Anna when they entered the elevator as soon as she noticed there was no one else in there. “Why are you giving me a hard time this morning?”

Anna breathed in the scent of Nikki's shampoo as they stood face to face. She held a naughty, lopsided smirk. “Because I already gave you a hard time last night.”

Nikki smirked. “I'm not sure I appreciate the innuendo.”

“Why not?” asked Anna as the elevator opened to the first floor. She pulled away from their embrace, to make their way out of the elevator just as a young couple was waiting to enter.

“Because that's more of a male reference, and I have no interest in men,” said Nikki as they walked out into the sunshine and toward the Jeep.

“Well, that's good to know. I don't either. I was rather hoping that you were interested in me,” said Anna grinning.

“I am, silly.” Nikki waited by the passenger door like she had so many other times since they had begun dating. Anna opened the door for her, but not before giving her a kiss on the lips.

“I'm sorry,” said Anna. “I promise not to say that anymore, and I promise not to give you a har....a difficult time.”

  Nikki sat down in th
e passenger seat. “Thank you,” she said.

Anna shut the door softly, then ran around to the driver's side. Within seconds, they were on their way down the shore once more. Nikki wondered what it could be that they were about to do, and prayed it wasn't anything like snorkeling, diving, swimming. She'd always wanted to swim with dolphins, but not if it meant swimming in the ocean. Too much of a risk. She would only do it someday if it was in a swimming pool like the one at Ocean Life.

As they drove down the length of the beach, Nikki watched all the people in the water swimming, all the families at the nearby parks barbecuing, and watched several kids flying kites. One looked like a dragon with brightly colored, shiny scales that glittered and shimmered in the sunlight. Another was a small girl who was flying a ladybug kite. Nikki smiled warmly because she appeared to be a toddler with short blonde curls. She held the string to her kite in one hand, but pointed up at it with the other hand. It's what made Nikki smile. She loved that kids saw things in a different light because, to them, it was often seeing things in life for the first time. She loved the wonderment in their eyes. Even though she was an adult, it's often how Anna made her feel every single time they went out to do something new and exciting. She felt that same sense of newness, anticipation, and excitement.

“I wish we could fly a kite,” she said under her breath. When Anna didn't respond, Nikki thought that Anna was too busy looking at the signs on the road trying to find their destination to notice that she'd said anything at all.

The last kite she saw in the air was a multi-layer kite. It made her think of the Wright Brother's airplane when they took their first flight only it was several stackable layers instead of just appearing as if it was two. She stared out her window for some time as they drove closer to it, then turned her attention back to the sea when Anna veered off the street and into a parking lot.

“Are we going to the beach again?” asked Nikki.

Anna shook her head. “Nope. We're about to do that,” she said pointing at a speed boat with two people in the high above the ocean seemingly floating in the air attached to a long rope with two harnesses and a parachute. They were about to go parasailing! “You did say you wanted to fly a kite, didn't you?” she asked grinning.

“I said I wanted to fly a kite! I didn't say I wanted to be the kite! I don't think I want to do that. I had rules, remember? We weren't supposed to do any sort of water activities that involved sharks.”

“Oh, right. See, that's where I found the loophole. You had said that fishing was okay because it was technically a water activity, but that it wasn't in the water with the sharks or jellyfish so it was okay. This is parasailing, so it's also not in the water, and it's also a safe distance from jellyfish and sharks. We might get to see them from an aerial view, but we won't be swimming in the water with them. At least, I don't think we're likely to crash in the water or anything like that.”

“What?! You mean, I might have to crash land in the ocean with sharks?”

Anna giggled. “No, I'm just messing with you. I assure you that it's perfectly safe.”

“Safe, huh? You've done it before?”

Anna nodded, then held Nikki's hand in hers. “Yes, I have. As a matter of fact, I was just out here last summer. Twice.”

“What if I can just sit on the speed boat and watch you parasail?”

Anna grinned. “Okay, I won't force you to do anything you don't want to do. But I promise it's fun and it's safe. It's just like the zipline only different.”

Nikki laughed. “That doesn't sound very convincing. Just like it? But different?”

“Well, we'll be up in the air in a harness viewing the world below us much like we were in the air when we were ziplining.”

Nikki nodded. “Well, when we ziplined at least I knew there was a ten-thousand pound line holding us up. There's nothing holding us up above sharks, jellyfish, killer whales, and the possibility of drowning but a rope and a kite.”

Anna corrected her. “It's not a kite. It's more like a parachute.”

  “You know what I meant.”

“And now we're adding Orcas to the list, I see.” Anna grinned.

“I don't think it's funny.” Nikki felt the same hesitation that she did when they went ziplining, but then again, she knew that after she put her trust in Anna that she was able to relax and enjoy the exhilarating journey down the hill across ten ziplines to the ground level.

“Baby, it's perfectly safe. I swear. I still want to do it. You don't have to make a decision right now, but when you see how fun it is and how simple, you'll want to join me. I know you will. It's already paid for, and you'll be right there on the boat. All you'll have to do is put the harness on, and you'll be lifted up by the wind and let out into the sky with a rope that's safely attached to the boat below.”

It didn't seem like Nikki was going to be convinced. She was still too focused on what dangers might be lurking below the surface of the ocean.

  Chapter Forty

Once Anna was high above the rippling ocean, she could see schools of fish, stingrays, and several dolphins swimming. It wasn't the first time that she had ever been parasailing, but she found that every single time she had been that she couldn't wipe the smile off her face. “You don't know what you're missing!” she shouted to Nikki who was firmly planted in a seat on the speed boat.

Nikki felt as though she wanted to sink into her seat further like the times when she went out for a drive with her older brother in his muscle car, a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro in midnight blue. He'd worked hard to restore it to its former glory days, and throngs of people would always stare at the shiny car or want to take photographs of it whenever they went somewhere. Nikki despised when the high school girls would try to talk to her brother when they went to the local Dairy Cone for a burger and ice cream. She didn't like feeling as if she was the center of attention with kids swarming all around her looking in and around the car. She wanted to spend quality time with her brother, but being eighteen and a Senior at Alcott High, he loved the attention and wouldn't ever dream of telling them to shove off and leave him and his little sister alone. Nikki often found that girls were usually so busy falling over themselves to talk to him that they rarely were paying any mind that she was there in the passenger seat at all. That part didn't faze her. She didn't want them to talk to her. But she didn't want them there sharing in the time that she should've been spending with her brother before he went off to college the following year. If they were going to be there monopolizing his time and fawning over him, she'd just as soon not be there at all. That's why she always felt like she wanted to sink down into her bucket seat and become invisible. That's exactly how she felt now. She didn't want to get on the parasail kite thing. She was scared. She didn't feel pressured by the two men operating the boat and parasail, but she felt as if they sat judging her. They knew she was afraid just like Anna did.

Nikki was tired of living in fear. Anna was right. This was just like the zipline. She had been afraid to try it at first. She knew she was physically able to do it, especially after seeing so many others young and old going across. This wasn't much different, and after watching Anna soar through the air above the ocean for a good amount of time as they sped up and down the Gulf, she finally decided she would try it before it was time to bring Anna down. If she was going to go up into the air at all, she wanted it to be with Anna by her side so that she could share in her experience.

“I want to go up,” she told the man that was helping Anna with her parasail.

  “Yeah?” he asked. “You sure?”

Nikki nodded. “If I don't do it now while I have the courage, I never will.”

Without giving Anna notice, the man at the back of the boat began to pull Anna back onto the boat.

“What's going on?” questioned Anna, looking at her watch. “I still have at least another half hour or so.”

“I want to go up with you,” said Nikki as she began to put her harness on.

You do?” Anna's smile seemed to stretch clear across the Gulf Coast. “Great! I knew you'd change your mind. You won't regret it.”

With both women strapped to their harnesses and attached to the parasail canopy with a sturdy rope, they now gripped hands just like the last scene of the movie Thelma and Louise except this wasn't quite a dive off a cliff. That had already happened to one of them, Nikki thought to herself recalling poor Anna's tragic car wreck, so this was going to be a piece of cake, a walk in the park, a....Her thoughts were interrupted as they were suddenly airborne and climbing higher into the air headed straight for the clouds it seemed.

“Woohoo!” shouted Anna, feeling as though she was on top of the world. “Look over there!” she'd say excitedly as she pointed at a school of fish or at the sight of a stingray or a dolphin. She absolutely loved sharing in her adventures with Nikki. It was especially touching for her when they could actually share in a moment when it seemed like it was just the two of them. It wasn't a crowd of people on a roller coaster or at a concert. It was just the two of them soaring high above the ocean holding hands, feeling the breeze in their hair, and the rest of the world was all together separate from them. Somehow she liked it better that way. It felt as if it was Anna and Nikki against the weight of the world. But together, she thought. Together they could conquer anything.

  Chapter Forty-One

By the time they were done with their parasailing, it was nearly time for hotel check out, so they headed back to the hotel room to pack their belongings to begin their drive home to San Antonio.

“You never cleaned my fish,” stated Nikki as she looked down into the icy cooler before putting the lid back on it and placing it in the back of the Jeep.

“I will. We can cook those babies when we get back to my place,” said Anna as she tossed their bags in beside the cooler.
